  • Sloppy Joe v Peanut Relays

8 PAX posted on Saturday morning at the mothership the Peanut v. Sloppy Joe Team Challenge. T-Claps to Fracsac who humiliated all other TM competitors by posting this morning and for the TM later today. And welcome back to OSHA from IR.

    Here’s…

    The Thang

Pax moseyed to the museum for warm-ups.

    IC
    SSH x 25
    IW x 15;
    Peter Parker x 15
    Mt Climber x 15
    Jump Squats x 10
    Parker Peter x 12
    Mt Climber x 12
Arm Circle x 20 one-way and then 20 the other way.

YHC explained that today is National Sloppy Joe Day and National Biofuel Day (original biofuel made out of peanut oil). So, our two teams for this competition on the day of the TM would be appropriately named.

    Museum Madness Relay

Split group in half into Team Sloppy Joe and Team Peanut. Each group assigns each person a number. Odd numbered at stairs. Even opposite side. Odds do irkins. Evens people’s chair. 1 v 1 starts at steps and runs with baton to 2. So on and so forth for two rounds. Douille and Justice got lost somehow in the relay… nobody was really sure how. Anyway, big surprise… Awesome’s team (Sloppy Joe) won. Moseyed to Roosevelt Mall.

    Route 66 Throwdown

Teams went to either side of Roosevelt Mall and a person went to bench 1, 4, 7, and 10. 1 started the relay while all others did 4 step-ups, 2 box jumps, and 5 dips. The last person ran to last bench and ran, back “collecting” each person as they went, sprinting back to bench 1. OSHA, Mav, and YHC almost got finished off by a dog interpreting our wicked speed as our attempt to attack a baby in a stroller with a woman. Close call. Anyway, Sloppy Joe went 2-0.

    Moseyed to “hill” by pond.

    Animal Challenge

Half of team went close to street, while other half stayed on other side of hill. First group by hill did squats, while group by street did Nolan Ryan’s. First person started the long bear crawl in between, and relay proceeded and rinses and repeated. This time, even with Awesome’s Baboon Crawl, Peanut staged a comeback and won. Finished advantage Sloppy Joe 2-1.

Moseyed to great lawn for flutters, Dolly, LBC, and merkins. Mosey to flag.

    COT-

Today is also national supreme sacrifice day. Call to attention FracSac’s sacrifice for double dipping, but most importantly, remembering our troops and thanks Jesus for his sacrifice for us all.

We closed by praying for our brothers at the TM. Good luck!

Solid work-out to lead into weekend!

  • Opposite Way Monday

YHC, Amnesty, Triple Shift, and Rudy found themselves on the wrong side of the tracks this morning and were delayed by the train. Just when we were about to circle up and plank and wait for the train, it passed and we ran to the flag about 5 minutes late with warm-ups already proceeding.

This backblast is very overdue by a week, and I can’t remember much of what we did. Let’s just say we ran opposite way around Pontiff doing various work-outs on the way, all without touching a rock!

  • 32 Rings for 32

It’s YHC’s 32nd birthday. Two PAX joined in to start my 32nd year early. Here’s

    The Thang

    IC
    SSH x 32
    Imperial Walkers x 16;
    Peter Parker x 16
    Parker Peter x 16
    Arm Circle x 20 one-way

    32 Ring of Fire

TClaps to RY for the recommendation over beer at Amnesty’s the night before to use the Ring of Fire exercise together with Rock exercises. In honor of YHC’s birthday, our goal was to complete 32 bear crawl ring of fire revolutions.

Bear crawl in full circle back to rock (1 revolution)
    IC x32 Rock Bench press
Bear crawl in full circle back to rock (2 revolution)
    IC x 16 Curls
Bear crawl in full circle back to rock (3 revolution)
    IC x 16 Rock Squats
Bear crawl in full circle back to rock (4 revolution)
    REPEAT 4 sets.

Due to time, we had to substitute lunges for 1 set and then running the ring to get to 32. Had a lot more chest presses, curls, shoulder presses, and squats.

Sent the rocks home. Circled back up for COT.

Best fact about 32 I found:

“A beheaded body can make 32 steps, according to a legend involving King Ludwig of Bavaria in 1336.”

Psalm 32 begins “Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”

“Many are the sorrows of the wicked one, but mercy surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD. Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; exult, all you upright of heart.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭32:10-11‬ ‭

    Thanks for celebrating!

  • 11’s + Levee = 🙁

YHC posted just in time on a dark Thursday morning at Okwata. A good group of 9 PAX posted including a blast from the past in Triple Shift. In true Triple Shift fashion, he didn’t just post for his first time in over a year. He also brought two FNGs with him. TClaps to Triple Shift

YHC gave disclaimer and we were off.

Pax moseyed, stopped for 5 pull-ups on Mitch’s pull-up bars, and moseyed to flag.

    COT
Named FNGs John Doe and Torque. Apparently as I write this I learn that Reluctant Yankee is disappointed in John Doe’s name. We thought it was apropos as he hesitated with his last name, as if he forgot. Anyway, Big Sky was a close second if RY prefers.

Good prayer request and closed out in prayer to begin a good Thursday. Hope FIA ladies up town had a good inaugural workout!

  • Psych on the Bridge

10 PAX posted initially on Saturday morning at the mothership with the replica Vietnam memorial right across the way in the great lawn. Great opportunity today to remember our fallen heroes.

Tclaps to Amnesty and Heisenberg for bringing two FNGs to the fray.

YHC welcomed all, gave his disclaimer, and the mosey began.

    Here’s…

    The Thang

Pax moseyed to the neutral ground on the road in front of the Museum near the park entrance for cop warm-ups. RY somehow found out group and caught up, giving us 11 pax. A beautiful sunrise sky set the tone for this nice “not so hot” Saturday morning.

    IC
    SSH x 31
    IW x 15;
Arm Circle x 20 one-way and then 20 the other way.
    Mountain Climber x 25

After encouraging people not to get hit by cars, PAX moseyed about half a mile to silver bridge near Cabrini over bayou.

YHC pulled out his deck of cards, only to find no cards in the deck, but only a piece of paper reading “Merkin Ladder”

    Merkin Ladder

Start on one side of bridge with 20 merkins, run across and then do 19, and so on and so forth.

We did this until we completed the 10 merkin portion.

Proceeded to do a Core Elevens- Plank Jack and Russian Twist across bridge.

Once that was finished, we finished the Merkin Ladder.

We moseyed back to City Park, stopped for 25 Mountain Climbers IC, and continued the mosey to the Great Lawn. On the way, a odd person on a bike ride by, but then we realized it was just Side Effects. Word on the street is he was afraid of YHC’s potential use of the Deck of Death. He pursued a nice cardio workout on his bike instead.

After 25 Flutters and 25 Dolly’s (all IC), we spent the last 2 minutes walking around the replica Vietnam Memorial.

COT included naming Chair Thrower (from Indiana in memory of Bobby Knight) and ‘Da Parish (from Chalmette). Shout-outs and announcements proceeded, concluding with pray especially for our troops.

    Moleskin

The Vietnam Wall was a great reminder of those who have come before us and sacrificed so much for our freedom. Let’s never take this for granted.
