  • Two Parking Garages and….

    Beautiful cool morning no excuse to fart sack today other than the “on your own stylings of 86”.

    Started with a mosey to the benches by the large parking garage and partnered up.

    One partner ran to the top of the larger parking garage (West rd side) performed 20 x burpees  then came back down the stairs.

    The other partner ran to the top of the smaller garage(Freret st side) and performed 20 x walk out merkins to t-frame then came back down the stairs.

    Then the partners switched and ran the opposite garage and performed the corresponding exercise.

    When done both partners returned to the benched and performed 20 x step ups, then 100 lbcs until the  arrived.

    Then on your own:

    20 x dips

    20 x decline merkins

    20 x shoulders taps

    Then slow mosey to the big parking garage and partnered up again.

    One partner ran up stairs to the top and performed 30 x crab toe touches while partner at the bottom of the garage did yoga squats.  Then partners switched.

    Mosey to the Loyola lawn:

    Ring of Fire:

    5 x burpees while everyone held an Al Gore

    10 x wide merkins while everyone held plank

    15 x jumping squats while everyone held squat position

    Mosey to the flag.

    Count off, name-o-rama, prayer.

    One FNG today and he mentioned that he worked with lubricants so Seaman donned the name KY.  Now tinkles might have competition for most apropos name.

  • Wednesday’s Plunge on Your Own

    Gloomy wet Wednesday in the shadow of Hurricane Harvey’s remnants, but really good turn out.

    Started with the disclaimer and the promise not to get too wet (not a shock but that didn’t hold up).

    Slow mosey in the parking lot then to the pavilion.

    20 x  burpees, merkins, squats, dips, russian twist then we ran a loop in the parking lot

    15 x  burpees, merkins, squats, dips, russian twist then we ran a loop in the parking lot

    10 x  burpees, merkins, squats, dips, russian twist then we ran a loop in the parking lot

    5 x  burpees, merkins, squats, dips, russian twist then we ran a loop in the parking lot

    20 count between each series.

    We then paired up into groups of two:

    Dora 1, 2, 3

    50 x decline shoulder taps

    100 x monkey humpers

    150 x good mornings

    Partner ran across the parking lot to the pod while other partner did the exercise.

    20 count

    Then we did four corners of Mary under the pavilion.

    20 x v-ups

    20 x dying cockroach

    20 x leg lifts

    20 x lbt

    Finished with

    20 x decline merkins on your own and the ran to the flag.

    Numbered off, name-o-rama and prayer (Remembering the people in Houston and locally who have lost so much due to hurricanes and flooding).

  • Modify When You Modify

    Nice morning in Audubon Park everyone looking enthusiastic and ready for an on your own workout bonanza.  We start with the disclaimer, including that I don’t count.  We mosey around the parking lot to oak alley.

    We pair up:

    One partner runs to the row bar and performs:

    10 burpees

    25 rows

    30 merkins

    The other partner runs suicides to the first four lights performing the following at each light:

    10 yoga squats

    10 jumping lunges

    10 imperial walker squats

    20 shoulder taps

    Repeating until partner returns then the two switch.

    Revit gives us a 30 count then mosey to the benches under the pavilion

    Pair up again, one partner runs to the pull up bars and performs:

    10 pull ups

    20 plank jacks

    30 lbcs

    While the other partner performs:

    20 v-up

    20 ski planks

    20 alternating right and left leg step up

    Repeating until partner returns then switching.

    This is where the modify happened, I was not clear on which pull up bar to go to so everyone went the the one by the flag as I went to the one around the track (valuable lesson be more explicit and try not to get too creative).

    Vader gave us a 20 count then we performed pick your poison mary.(everyone picked an exercise and did a 10 count(9 count) on each exercise.

    Back to the flag, count, name-o-rama, and prayer.

  • St Patrick’s Day Pre-Mudder Non Yoga On Your Own Workout

    When I arrived JV told me that Pontiff was doing yoga today as preparation for the mudder tomorrow.  I really wish I had the foresight to think of that but oh well, I am worse at yoga than counting.

    We started out with a mosey in the direction of Cooter Browns, in the St Patrick’s Day Spirit, but I thought better of that so we proceeded to the pull up bars on Ferret.

    Split into 3 groups:

    Round 1

    10 pull ups for the count

    merkins to shoulder taps

    squats to seated on the ledge

    Round 2

    10 leg raises for the count

    dips

    monkey humpers

    Mosey to the parking garage:

    Partnered up:

    Round 1

    partner ran to top of the garage then 20 burpees and returned down the nearest stairs

    other partner did traveling walk outs alternating between:

    10 imperial walker squats

    10 merkins

    10 air press

    then we switched

    Round 2

    partner ran of opposite stairs to the top and did 10 v-up and returned down closest stairs

    other partner performed:

    50 lbc

    50 flutter kicks

    50 dying cockroaches

    then we switched

    Mosey to the flag, count off, name-o-rama, prayer.  No counting was butchered or awkward yoga poses performed…

  • Gloomy Post Superbowl Monday

    Pretty gloomy foggy morning today.  No one in group seemed to have lost sleep over the Atlanta defeat last night.

    We started with the disclaimer and a slow mosey to oak alley.

    We paired up in team of two them performed Team BLIMPS Suicide Runs.

    -One partner ran suicides to four light poles doing 5 Burpees at each light while his partner did various types of Lunges(side, forward, backward) then the two switched.

    -One partner ran suicides to the four light poles doing 10 Merkins at each light while his partner did Imperial Walkers then the two switched

    -One partner ran suicides to the four light poles doing 5 Walk Out Plank Jacks at each light while his partner did various types of Squats (sumo, close, wide) then the two switched.

    25 count then slow mosey to the row bars. We broke up into 4 groups of three and did the following 4 stations:

    -15 merkins to shoulder taps (for the count)

    -hillbillies

    -rows

    -right and left leg step ups

    After a circuit of that we had a 10 count and mosey to the pavilion.  At the pavilion we broke up into 4 groups of 3 again and did the following 4 Mary exercises:

    -20 v-ups (for the count)

    -leg raises

    -dying cockroaches

    -lbc

    We finished with 20 count superman to 20 count mission impossible.

    Mosey to the flag, number off, name-o-rama and prayer.

  • Hot December Morning

    It’s hard to believe its so hot in December….Oh never mind this is New Orleans wait a day and it will be forty degrees.

    We started out with a mosey to Oak Ally first running by the female boot camp for inspiration.

    At Oak Ally we did suicides

    -10 x V-ups at the start

    -5 x burpees at each light pole

    Indian run to the row bars.

    Four stations at the row bars:

    -Merkins x 20 for the count

    -Side Lunges

    -Mission Impossible

    -Rows

    Mosey to the tables under the pavilion

    -Decline Merkins x 15 for the count

    -Dips

    -Alternating step ups

    -Alternating super step ups

    2 circuits of these exercises.

    On your own Mary:

    -LBC x20

    -Russian Twists x 15

    -Dying Cockroach x 10

    Mosey back to Oak Alley for Suicides again

    -Jumping Squats x 10 at start

    -Bear Crawl to shoulder taps x 5 at each light

    Indian run toward pull up bars then running back (jogging two markers sprinting one) to the flag

    -plank-o-rama, count off, name-o-rama, prayer

    I spared everyone from my inability to count so everything was stations, suicides or on your own.

  • Chili’s Didn’t Strike Back VQ

     

    Friday November 11 at Wolfpack Mountain and the morning was nice and cool and I was out on my VQ.  I made a point not to eat at Chili’s, since that took me out on my first scheduled VQ.

    Started out on a mosey down St Charles then began our warm up.

    • SSH x 20 IC
    • IW x 20 IC
    • Peter Parkers x 20 IC
    • Seal Jacks x 20 IC
    • Shoulder Taps x 20 IC
    • Burpees x 10 on your own

    I realized I can’t count to 3 or have much rhythm after the warm up so we proceeded to the Parking Garage.  We ran up the garage and performed Squats x 10 at first landing, then Merkins x 10 at second landing, then Side Lunges x 10 at third landing and repeated until we reached the top.

    At the top we had a 20 count then we performed

    • LBC x 20
    • Russian Twist x 10
    • Dying Cockroach x 10

    Then ran down stairs to next floor and POW ran up to top floor repeating twice.

    After two sets we had a 20 count then Indian Run to the bottom of the garage and met up at the benches outside the garage.

    At the benches we performed the following:

    • Incline Merkins x 15 IC
    • Right Leg Step Up x 20 IC
    • Dips x 15 IC
    • Left Leg Step Up x 20 IC
    • Decline Merkins x 10 (on your own)

    Mosey to the flag and then plank o rama, count off, name o rama and prayer.

    Survived first Q and learned a few important things:

    1. Don’t eat at Chili’s…..Ever
    2. Counting to 3 and exercising is very difficult
    3. I have 0 to none rhythm
