  • Dejavu – from Mahatma

YHC did NOT want to get out of the sack. Yet it was on a verbal commitment to Bolt of taking the Q. Pulling up at 5:27 there was no sign of activity stirring in or around the bill pin – no last minute headlights. At 5:33 YHC made the decision OYO recovery – headed back to the house made coffee and enjoyed the quiet morning on the porch.

  • Pre-feast calorie burn – from Mahatma

It was 5:27 Cool and comfortable – YHC was staring into the darkness and no pax! The decision was made to position his truck for a 5:31 departure yet at 5:29 headlights coming…..white Dodge – YHC new it was a Frac sighting and pulled back into the parking lot. 2 more sets pulled in so our number doubled to 4!

After disclaimer the outline for the beatdown was explained……simple enough don’t stop moving even when your waiting (SSH or Scuba Kicks). All movement was Indian Run style. Every 5 minutes we would halt whatever we were doing for a round robin set of Mary.

  • The Turkey Bowl – from Paradox

    11/26/22 7:29 am EDW Stadium

A youth sized Wilson football leaves the rocket launcher surgically enhanced shoulder of legendary quarterback Yankee Joe Montana. The game clock strikes 0:00 and the scoreboard is locked in a dead heat 0-0, the leather-bound vessel elevates in a tight spiral and cuts through the gloom of a misty bayou morning. A bird chirps. Fresh biscuits fill the air. It reaches the peak of its flight and underneath, each PAX fight for real estate to find its landing place. Its destination is a streaking Superfun(d) who has battled through the Yellow Team defense and found wide open spaces in the endzone. Time stands still, the fate of the F3 Turkey Bowl hangs in the balance….

    18 hours earlier…

    Text Thread
YHC: F3 Turkey Bowl tomorrow, I’ll get flags. Can you bring an an American football?
Yankee Breaux: Yea, going to Wally today to get black Friday deals on Icy Hot. What size, Junior?
YHC: You bet. I can throw it clean over those mountains.

    14 hours earlier…
Group Text with Tana and Yankee
YHC: Check out this F3 turkey bowl jersey prototype (beaming with pride as YHC attaches pic of PDOX jersey I’d been stenciling for hours)
Tana: Bro.. I’m gonna shoot you strait …that looks like it says POOX
    Yankee…..
    Tana:….
YHC: No turning back, see yall in the morning. (*Googles Bible verses on Humility)

6:00am YHC and Yankee setting up cones and feeling low expectations about turn out
YHC : Can you play flag football with three people?
Yankee: Who is the third? Tana had a few high APV brews yesterday, hes atleast 50/50
YHC: Man , Goose is never gonna let me Q the special holidays again. Oh well it was a good run.

6:29 am YHC and Yankee share a “yea this is gonna be awesome” nod as 10 PAX and one 2.0 FNG pour in from all corners to the Peltch gravel lot. The call of gridiron glory had not gone unanswered. Major Brat rolling in for his second beatdown! T Claps!. andddd a really special Welcome Back Kotter moment as Gordon strolled in with a fresh homemade F3 jersey and a twinkle in his eye. We got rolling with some standard warmups with somewhat proper cadence.

    THANG 1 WARMUP
PAX Indian run with last man dropping off to do 5 Football Thrusters (thrusters holding a football, don’t overthink it) then runs to lateral pass the ball to the last man in the Indian run. If ball dropped we would suffer 5 burpees as a PAX. It took Cardinal approximately 3 microseconds to spot the morality loophole. “What if they drop it and nobody sees them?”. To YHCs knowledge there were only crisp albeit somewhat short passes and we made it to the EDW stadium with legs activated.

Mosey to the Center Cards logo after an impromptu cone shuttle run.

    WarmUp Song
“Are you ready for some Football?”…No not the one your thinking , sorry . I left Hank Williams Jr at home. We did Zombie Walks on the song with Burpees on “Football” to this version created by …checks notes….Mr. Lewis and D.O Dubb feat Dub Ruffin. You might want to google this one because its pure poetry.

Mosey back to the endzone with a lateral cone shuttle run

YHC had PAX line up shoulder to shoulder
On Q call we passed the ball side to side
On Down hold Al Gore, On Set we chopped feet, Then YHC blew the coach whistle and whoever had the ball got to call a PAX to go out for a pass. If caught 10 SSH, if dropped 5 burpees. PAX faired well here once in a rhythm. Gave everyone a chance to see what talents would be showcased in todays Main Event…

    Thang 2 The TURKEY BOWL
Divide PAX by 1s and 2s and pass out yellow and blue flags
BLUE TEAM: Montana, YJ, Cardinal, SuperFun(d), Wet Tap
YELLOW TEAM: YHC, Major Brat, Lil Cuz, Paradiddle, Gordon

The Rules were simple enough. Each possession starts on the 50. You get 4 downs, no first downs. PAX hold al gore in offensive huddle while PAX hold plank in defense huddle. Any turnover (on downs, interception, fumble) results in 10 burpees for offense and 10 SSH for defense. A touch down results in 10 burpees for defense and 10 SSH for offense.
Yellow team took the first offensive possession after winning the toss and a lengthy explanation of an alien football backspin concept that must be a “down the bayou” thing. (still don’t get it)

Yellow team with a turnover on downs to start after a failed flea flicker. Lil Cuz establishing himself as a field general early. Blue team started a steady drive and it looked like we would continue a Saturday tradition of watching Wet Tap do athletic things we usually only see on TV. Blue was threatening an early score leaning heavy on Taps speed and Tanas relentless trash talk.
…That’s when Gordon decided enough is enough. As Tap was streaking for what looked like an inevitable score Gordon met him head on to force out of bounds. Unstoppable object..immovable force..we’ve heard this song before! Some bystanders say you could actually here the moment that Taps ear cartilage gave way. When the dust settled Team blue ate 10 more burpees and with blood in the water Team Yellow had the big Mo swing.

    HIGHLIGHTS
-Paradiddle kept a great attitude despite not know much football lingo
-Montana is light on his feet and has perfected the Lebron Crab dribble. Don’t let him get in open space.
-Gordon with a contested 2 foot drag interception and we still are waiting on booth review
-Legends continue to grow but pretty sure Wet Tap wasn’t allowed a vehicle as a teenager and just had to run to places. He was never late.

We traded blows for the next few possessions but remained a tight defensive slobber knocker. YHC checked the applewatch game clock and gave blue team the 60 second warning. This would be the final drive…

    7:30am EDW Field Endzone
The junior size Wilson descends on its path into the EDW endzone and finds SuperFun(d) ready to cradle it like a newborn baby. Crowd noises overtakes the scene as our perception returns to real time.
The inaugural F3 Thibodaux Turkey Bowl had its victor. Blue team in Hail Mary Fashion!!

    Defensive MVP- Gordon
    Offensive MVP- SuperFun(d)

Wrapped up on the field with our now traditional PAX clean up then mosey back to the flag.

Welcome Lil Cuz’s FNG 2.0 –Pikachu!

COT and Cardinal Prayed Us out

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.
Lots of great ideas for this one going forward and I think the Bowl series will be a staple.

  • Black Friday Edition – from King Kong

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a feast at our 2nd Friendsgiving after Afternoon Delight. Whopper’s saying… “Wellness starts tomorrow.” I was expecting more Pax on Friday morning after all the food we indulged on Thanksgiving Day. I was surprised to see only 9 PAX (Elwire, Meatball, Popalock, BTU, Manchovy, Moana, Whopper, Moist, and Kong). The Q didn’t show up, and there is no way I was going to let Meatball take the Q. FYI – all he does…. run up the garage and do 10 burpees on each level on both sides of the garage. BORING. So I took the Q on the spot.

We moseyed behind Gibson Hall and did our warm-ups: SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Hill Billies, Windmills, and Arm Circles.

We then moseyed to PJs and did more warm-ups: Self Love, Slow Merkins, Slow Low Squats.

We then moseyed to the Baby Garage. We Native American Ran up to the top. At the top, we did DORA 1, 2, 3. Exercises were 100 merkins, 200 Rocky Balboas, 300 American Hammers (2 is 1). While one partner was doing the exercise, the other partner ran down one level and back up.

After Dora, we moseyed back down. We stopped on each level and did an exercise at each level as a group. 1st stop – 20 flutterkicks. 2nd stop – 20 Hello Dollies. 3rd Stop – Protractors. 4th Stop – 10 hand-released merkins.

Next stop – to WPM. Ran up to the first level. We did a burpee under each beam on the 2nd ramp towards the 3rd level. We did about 10 burpees in total. Time was running out so we moseyed back to the flag.

COT – Speaking of Thanksgiving, we are always grateful and thankful for our health, family, and friends. Keep up our mental and physical health so that we can continue to do this on a regular basis. Coffeeteria attendance was high. Gabby showed up at PJs even he didn’t attend the beatdown.

  • Burn that Turkey – from Fracsac

Saturday after Thanksgiving at the Mothership brought a 60 degree Misty feel to the AO. The attendance was light with 4 pax: Carpool Downrange from Houston, Spaulding, Cheetos and YHC, but that didn’t stop us from turning up the heat to burn off that Thanksgiving meal!

  • Black Friday shopping – from Jose10k

Okay, I’ll be honest, between Einsteins skater workout on Wednesday and the Turkey Trot yesterday, yhc legs were at bit jello. So our Black Friday shopping spree involved mostly upper body. Following a nice warm up of various stretches and exercises, we lined up for our Friday deals. First, we brought the coupons to add to the money saving opportunities. We had alternate merkins, rows, and curls for those customers waiting in line, while shopper 1 made a loop around the store in whatever fashion they choose. Most picked a light jog around, some skipped, back peddled, sprinted, and when I say some, I mean just hogs breath. 4 rounds of that, fireman carry your coupon back to the gipper, followed by a slow walk back to the top. Cot, Hog prayed us out. Syitg gentlemen!

  • Turkey Day Leftovers – from Russo

Given the weather (slightly rainy), folks traveling, and day-after-holiday date, I thought I might be flying solo this morning, but like a shining light off in the distance, Quarterpipe moseyed to start to turn a table for one into a table for two for some Post-Thanksgiving leftovers. • The Pelican Emerges from Anti-Hibernation aand The Wack is Back! – from Bushwacker

After declaring 33 degrees too cold for his bones, our most recent south shore transplant (& from what I hear from The Duke potentially my future in-law) Quarter Pipe bowed out from Q at the Splash Pad. Fortunately the stars were aligned: my schedule allowed, Akbar stayed local, and Steve needed to redeem himself. All combined for the return of the Wack! BONUS: as the beatdown began in earnest, a set of headlights rounded the corner. No, it wasn’t Cowbell, but the recently-memorialized-by-Russo Pelican returned (Marsh was actual return) from his summer hibernation

    WARMORAMA

    x10-15 IC:
    SSH
    Windmills
    Imperial Walkers
    Fire Hydrants

THANG (AKA WHACK ATTACK… last one I promise!)

Mosey to the tunnel, and paired off. P1 ran down the tunnel, burpee in the middle, up the other side the returned running backward up the near side. P2 did the following:
    Burpees
    Squarts
    Hammers
    Plank

Mosey back to the “flag” where the PAX switched for 2 rotations between 4 stations, 1 minute each:
25lbs Farmer Carry across the great lawn and back
25lb Prisoners Carry up and down the stairs
    SSH
    Freddy Mercs/Flutter Kicks

    COT

No time for Mary, so count, name, and yours truly took us out with words of inspiration to send the PAX out into a day flush with potential.

It was great to be back in the driver’s seat, and I greatly appreciate my brothers for hopping on the wacky bus with me once again in the gloom! (sorry, had to slip that last one in;)
