They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb; Today’s brisk and windy gloom proved that to be true—48 degrees according to the car.
There was sprinting and stretching and most importantly there was accountability and brotherhood. As the COT disbanded, Frac mentions it is Pi Day; how’d we let that get by without weaving it into the workouts!? Enjoy ur quiche, Frac.

He’s Not Heavy, He’s My Brother – from Bolt
After warmorama of the usual with groiners mixed in to liven things up, form single file line and while YHC carries sand bag to the outside track pax do two burpees then last guy in line catches and assumes the sandbag, sending me to the back. If you wanna go fast go alone; if you wanna go far, go together and together is how we support each other when we all struggle mentally.
Each pax had a turn with the bag, we ended at the rock pile to collect medium rocks and circle up on YHC where burpee timer is in the middle (x15) with Pax at different stations con roca: squats, tricep press, lunges, LBC, OH press, curls, rows, wife pleasers, merkins, reverse lunges, Penguins, SSH, plus sand bag chest press. Rudy opted to skip a song incurring a five burpee penalty for all just before Mambi was the timer; “Thanks a lot, Rudy” was his reply. Rudy actually experienced double punishment because the awful song he skipped brought an even worse song (Bolt’s playlist delivers again!) and no back to back skips—hahaha.
Mahatma, as always, offered up encouragement to keep pushing ourselves. Today’s gloom, like life, had each pax pushing himself with something different than the men around him yet it was the shared struggle that bound us together because he’s not heavy, he’s my brother.
Back to the flag grateful for F3 and the support of brothers in the gloom; welcome back (Kotter) Pillsbury and way to keep the consistency, Off Balance.

PawPaw’s Chainlink Beatdown by Smooth Operator – from Goose
Alright let’s get started, I have been thinking about my PawPaw ever since I been following the discipline of exodus 90. One of the formation packs Suffering well with Christ struck home with YHC. So I decided to make some exercises that represented some aspects of his life that I found especially interesting.
YHC showed up at the stage around 0445 this morning and started unloading some props. Enron was the first to show up as I was finishing duck taping a slightly damp cement bag together to make sure it wouldn’t fall apart throughout the work out. Lil cuz showed up next followed by Paradox coming in hot around 0510. After some chitchat we jumped into warms up.
Warm up
Side straddle hops
Grass grabbers
Windmills
Arm circles both ways
Cherry pickers
Butt kickers
Self loveThang 1 Meat rabbit 7’s
Alright my PawPaws first attempt at entrepreneurship was raising rabbits to provide meat to the little town of Lucy. It did not take off like he hoped and eventually he tore down his rabbit building and moved it to Vacherie to make his fence shop.
Meat rabbit 7’s are an adaptation of 11’s due to time. The workout by the stage were burpees which we started with 7 and worked down to one. The mode of transport was bunny hops to the side walk and one legged bunny hops switching at every picnic table on the way back. The sidewalk workout was squats from 1 to 7. This one was a lot harder on us than YHC thought it was going to be. Towards the end the bunny hops started to look like horse gallops, but the PAX got it done.
Thang 2 The Chainlink Circuit
After my PawPaw got himself a plant operator job, he still had the entrepreneurI’ll itch to start a business. This business was St. Pierre Fence company. It was his pride and joy right behind his 3 sons.
Alright from here we dove into the fence material circuit. This involved 4 stations due to the 4 PAX members in attendance. The exercise would start and stop with the PAX that flipped the 6’ double knuckled chain link roll end for end to the 2nd picnic table and back to the stage concrete. He was the timer. From there this PAX would move onto the tire beatdown. He would beat an old tire with a large maul until the next PAX member would return with the chainlink roll back to the starting point. After the tire beatdown the PAX member would move onto the 9’ by 2” schedule 40 galvanized fence post exercise which would change every round. 1st round was power clean, squat, shoulder press. 2nd round was curls, and 3rd round was skull crushers. The last station was the 80 lb. cement bag carry. The PAX member would either fireman carry or strongman carry the cement bag from the 1st picnic table across the field to the sidewalk and back.
The chainlink circuit went exactly like YHC wanted it to go. The PAX got to experience a simulated version of what it’s like to build a chainlink fence. I think my PawPaw would have been proud seeing this exercise.
Thang 3 Music tribute
My PawPaw lived with MS throughout the majority of his life. In 2004 he ended up catching a massive stroke and lost his motor functions and ability to communicate. He lived like this for 9 years and ended up passing in 2013.
YHC put in a couple songs that reminded me of my PawPaw. The first was Cost of living by Ronnie Dunn. The PAX would be doing mountain climbers or planks for the duration and would be doing merkins when the phrase I got a strong back came up. We would continue to perform merkins until the phrase cost of living is high and going up was sang. There was some chatter going on for this song, but we put in some good work.
The next song was Small town southern man by Alan Jackson. For this song we would be doing Penguins for duration and do some big boy sit up whenever southern man was sang. YHC was begging to hear anything that even remotely sounded like southern man. Those penguins got pretty tough toward the end.
From seeing my PawPaw suffer for so many years didn’t help my relationship with God. I couldn’t understand why God would make a good man suffer so much. Towards the end I clan remember praying he would pass just to ease his suffering and the strain it was putting on my dad and grandma. After reading Suffering well with Christ I finally understand a little more of what the Lord was doing with him and I am more at peace with it.
YHC called the work out at 0600 which was followed by COT and Enron prayed us out. Thank you fellas for showing up and doing this one with me. It was a good one.
See y’all in the gloom,
Smooth OperatorSide note – St. Pierre fence is still running today. My dad bought the business from my grandmother and my little brother is currently in charge of operations. I’m proud of them for kept it going and just wish I had the time and craftsmanship to help them out more.

Return of Out For Justice – from King Kong
Catfish met up with us at Wakin’ Bakin’ after Sweaty Bells couple Sundays ago. During breakfast, he asked if I would take the Mothership Q few Saturdays away. Of course I said yes.
We woke up to a beautiful, sunny morning in the mid 60’s. I got in my vehicle and was about to head to Audubon Park for Misty Mountain. As I was driving on Broadway towards St. Charles, I see my phone lit up from the corner of my eyes. A message from Willie popped up on my lock screen said “Mutha”. That’s when I was reminded…. go to City Park instead! Headed to Muthaship!!!
I realized how much I miss City Park. I get to see the Pax whom I usually don’t see. Triple and Hokie were there before me. As my watch was ticking closer to 6:30 a.m., more Pax were pulling up. Most surprising of all was the arrival of Out For Justice. This was his first post in 4 years! Kotter Justice! I gave my disclaimer and off we went……… only few yards away to the great lawn for warm-ups: SSHs, windmills, grassgrabbers, stretches (right over left foot and vice versa), arm-circles, Hill-Billies, and Imperial Walkers.
First stop – we moseyed to NOMA (my favorite part of City Park) and did a classic Dora, 1, 2, 3. Exercises were 100 inclined merkins, 200 squats, and 300 flutter kicks. After we finished, we formed two lines and did people run from NOMA to the Wisner’s entrance and back.
Second stop – we went to the field right next to NOMA and did Seven’s. We started off with 6 burpees on one side, then bear crawled to the other side, 1 jump squat on this side, then lunge walked back to the burpees side. We finished with 1 burpees on one side and 6 jump squats on the other side.
Third Stop – we people ran from NOMA to Baby Foundry. Here we did reverse hang. We separated into 2 groups. One group was in Al Gore position while the other group was hanging from the bars for 20 seconds. Started off with chin above the bar, then slowly lowered your head below the bar in 20 seconds.
Final Stop – back to the great lawn for a round of Mary and stretches.
Back to the flag with announcements and intentions. Important announcement was Afternoon Delight 2 Year Anniversary – this Wednesday, March 15. We are always grateful for our health. Thank You Hokie for leading the prayer!
Happy to be back at the Mothership, and I have to make that as part of my routine.

Praying for a Pickle by Piccadilly – from Goose
It was a beautiful and perfect morning at the Pelch as YHC anxiously arrived to deliver good long overdue VQ. If any of you have listened to the podcast on the first Q webpage, link will be at the bottom, I’m the guy he speaks of at the end. I’ve been coming to F3 for some time now and never had my Virgin Q, I allowed it to get in my head and I kept pushing it away for no good reason. Like me, I hope the PAX that attended enjoyed our time together this morning as much as I did.
Thanks to Enron for the drawing board, Tana for the cones and SONOS for the gut shot as she decided to not wake up this morning. She’ll be back to redeem herself…promise you that. As I got over SONOS not connecting, I wiped the tear from my eye and gathered the PAX to get started. It was also a pleasant surprise to have G.I. Joe grace us with his presence this morning. For many of us that was our first beatdown together. Enjoy suffering in the soreness tomorrow with me!!
Warm o Rama –

Grass grabbers with clap

Butt kicksIndian run to thunder dome…start EMOM timer-5 kraken burpees at every 5 minute interval.
As YHC dealt with covid this past week, he completely fell off the wagon with Exodus 90 as he didn’t want to add any more suffering to the misery. I now wish I would have sucked it up buttercup. The evil one has no boundaries when it comes to him battling to separate us from the LORD! I needed this song and the PAX to suffer with me during it to get me back on track…
Thang #1 Kraken burpees= burpee with 3 hand release push ups at the bottom
Come Follow Me – Brother Isaiah 5:20
