  • Which way to go? – from Shooter

With PAX on the rucking side totaling 4, it appeared the runners would be outnumbered on this Gloom.. The likes of Steve, Zoolander and Hammer as Thursday regs, was replaced with the unusual posting of Jose10k. Now that’s not a dig 10k, but outside of RCR or the occasional training days at the Treen center we Mandevillians are only blessed with your presence on Saturday’s and us fellas always appreciate your posting.. It would be rude of me not to thank Bushwacker also and we certainly appreciate your commitment outside of your shift days to post and know we wouldn’t have balanced out the PAX without you sir Wacker!! YHC had the privilege to slow down Waterpic once again this Thursday to share in great chatter as always…

Brief warmup of MC, Scorpion kicks, Bridges, SSH and Grass hoppers…

Ruckers 20 out and 20isssshh plus back while the runners logged in the neighborhood of 4.3 or so and Waterpic and YHC completed 20 Merkins 2x awaiting the Ruckers return…

Appreciate all of you HIMs for the commitment to post and until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!!

  • Brevity is…. Wit – The Simpsons – from Steve

If yesterday’s rambling, stream-of-conscious BB was in the vein of Donald Miller, today we’re shooting for Raymond Carver (or Chewy):

It was dark and humid and there were merkins.*

    Tunnel, backpedal, more merkins.

Selling books, AI refrigerators, termite swarms, the lost AO of Abita Springs.

    And. More. Merkins.

Jane Fondas back at the flag, Russo closed us out.

*Carver’s famous editor would’ve scratched out every line but the first one. I just can’t bring myself to be such a purist.

  • Tabatta Tuesday – from Chewy

    Tabata Tuesday
Seven PAX met up last Tuesday at the Mandeville Trail head for a Tabata Tuesday workout. Exercises included jump rope, agility ladder, side, straddle hops, mountain climber, lunges, and a flight of steps.

  • Winston Cavendish – from Shooter

    https://norfolkdailynews.com/news/veteran-cop-was-the-real-mcgruff/article_a1fcdd20-595a-11e5-b1e0-ab18827f3ee6.html

When you see Mr. McGruff now you will know the reason. Thanks to all the PAX this morning sharing there theories about our new attention at the Scramble. Most importantly thanks to The Hammer for doing the research to find out that a St Tammany parish resident Sgt. Cavendish of the Sun PD was actually the real McGruff back in the day..

    Warmup brief
Toe Touches, butt kicks, Cherry pickers, Mountain climbers, leg swings forward and back and side to side.

Runners 4.3 and Ruckers 20 out and 20 back. Welcome to FNG KickFlip and Chewy EHing two FNGs in the last two months..

    Count, announce, COT

    Until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!!

  • Four Corners of The Apocalypse – from Steve

Well, I’d hardly call it an “apocalyptic” beatdown. Nor was it truly a “four corners” (more like 6). But hey, sometimes you need a title just to get these things off the ground.

Marsh-style beatdown on this humid Tuesday (delayed bb here, so this was before out little cool front), moseying to the lake with a stop at each intersection for 15x merkins, 15x lunges, 15x flutter kicks IC. You know you’re firmly middle-aged when conversations yo-yo between healthcare costs and the financial viability of art galleries with wine bars. Other, more fun topics were surely mused over, but hey, YHC is 45 – I can’t remember what happened a week and a half ago.

Once at the lake, we headed to the Rip’s staircase for calf raises x5 each step. Chewy, Russo, and YHC were there for (and very likely contributed to) the demise of the previous set of stairs at Rips, so it’s good to see that these fairly new ones are still holding up. Then it was over to the wall for some step ups, freaks, step downs, freaks, Bulgarians, freaks, all x12 IC. And back to Rip’s for more calf raises.

With time closing in, we headed back, this time foregoing the merkins and lunges at each intersection, but stopping once at the midway point and knocking out the flutter kicks all in one go. Once back, COT, nameorama, and Chewy prayed us out. Thank you gents for the camaraderie, and for posting regularly – it pushes me to do the same.

  • Wild Q seems fitting!! – from Shooter

Granny proved to be not only Wild with the weather but also Wild with the dice. Knowing this weather will not remain much longer, YHC was still able to provide some general perspiration with his beatdown this morning for the PAX.. As Chewy stated at the end of our morning the one shirt beatdowns are soon to be done and over for sometime..Our full blown summer and humidity will be here to stay, so it was quite pleasant to enjoy this Gloom with its unusual coolness under the breezeway of the trailhead..

YHC may be missing some or also might be out of sequence but close enough..

Felt like a good balanced routine and beatdown and until the next gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!!

  • Here comes the humidity!! – from Shooter

With summertime approaching, the Scramble proved to bring out the perspiration. Although the temperature was in the 70s the humidity had to be between 90-100… & PAX posted and made the most it.. After a brief warmup of Hillbillies, Windmills, good mornings, grass grabbers and a Al Gore hold circle with a jump squat around the PAX to 100.. 2 Ruckers set out for 20 out and back while the remaining 6 moseyed the sidewalk route. Runners returned first and completed some Core WW1 sit-ups, flutter kicks and wife pleasers. A scramble would not be complete without a 20 count OYO of Merkins..

Glad to be back and appreciate the post gentlemen. Until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!

  • North shore’s 8th anniversary – from Chewy

This weekend marked the eighth anniversary of F3 North Shore, a milestone that reminds us of the incredible journey we’ve been on together. From humble beginnings to becoming a pillar of support and growth for men in our community, F3 North Shore has truly made a difference in many lives.

Since its inception , F3 North Shore has been more than just a workout group. It’s a place where men of all backgrounds come together to break out of their comfort zones, forge meaningful friendships, and support each other through life’s challenges. In a time when maintaining close relationships outside of family can be challenging, F3 North Shore has been a beacon of camaraderie and support.

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for F3 North Shore and the core group of men who consistently show up each week. Your dedication goes beyond just exercise; it’s about building each other up, pushing boundaries, and creating a positive impact on each other’s lives.

Personally, I may not have been consistent throughout the years, but I always find comfort in knowing that I can come back to the PAx and that the core group is always there, ready to welcome me with open arms.

Here’s to celebrating eight years of F3 North Shore and to many more years of growth, friendship, and support.

  • McGruff the crime dog – from Waterpik

There was a visitor today at the Scramble. It was a larger than life statue of McGruff the crime dog, recently erected behind Mamdeville city hall. As in, are you kidding me???? At about 10 feet tall, this statue is larger than life, with its placard attributing McGruffs creation dating back to 1980. All kidding aside, I felt very safe out there this morning because he was there. Haha.

Anyway, there was some working out that took place also. Instead of the normal scramble route, we ran straight to the tunnel where we ran down the tunnel, across the flat part and then sprinted up the far side for 10 reps. After 10 reps we headed back to McGruffs house to close out. With 5 minutes to spare we did 20 merkins, hello Dollie’s, flutter kicks, Rosalitas, Peter Parker’s.
