  • Audible at the Scramble

YHC decided to change up the routine slightly at the Scramble in the Gloom. Each Pax had to complete 50 merkins, burpees, and squats during the course of the 5K. It was good to see Mathlete make a surprise appearance, even though he said he wont be coming back when he learned the Scramble was our running AO.

It was good to share the streets of Old Mandeville with you, men! As always, it was my privilege to lead you guys this morning. Y’all push me to become a better man every time I am with you.

Thanks to Steve for praying us out.

  • Cool Runnings

With a majority of the PAX still reeling from Week 3 of the IPC, YHC knew the turnout would be relatively light for today’s Scramble. With a light breeze making for some “relatively cool temperatures”, the minor break from the heat and humidity gave the PAX a September reprieve.

The Rules of the Gloom were each PAX had to do 100 merkins and 100 squats along the traditional Scramble route. The only other wrinkle was that each man was to pick up the pace along the long straight road to Sunset Point, both coming and going.

Five minutes of Mary and thanks to Bushwacker for praying us out.

  • Windows Up / Heat On

5 strong at the Scramble this morning as Hurricane Laura pummeled Lake Charles and many of the Thursday regulars prepared for their Gulf Coast CSAUP.

QIC checked the regular route prior to arriving at the double shovel flag. No barricades or pier closures in sight, so after a quick warmup of 10 Good Mornings, 10 Abe Vigodas, 10 Imperial Squat Walkers, and 1-legged chair stretches, the scramblers scrambled with a few stops along the way for Merkins.

Wrapped up with 50 LBCs, 50 flutter kicks and 15 Burpees. Jose prayed us out.

YHC was looking forward to Jose’s daily deposit into the sweat jug, but he left it in the garage! So windows up and heat on for the car ride home to squeeze out every last drop. SYITG!

  • ROOTS

Over the past 6 months since since the quarantine, there have been many different routes / variations / themes (speedy’s sprints come to mind) taken for the weekly F3 5K. Today, YHC decided to take the 5k Scramble back to it’s roots, which is around the loop, then all the way to the end of the pier at Sunset Point. Back at the flag, we hit the workout equipment for 10 minutes of circuit training (bear crawls, freak nasties, hanging leg tucks).

COT and thanks to Akbar for praying us out!

  • Scrambling for Substitutions!!

With Cowbell on the Q sheet for the Scramble YHC awoke with preparation of attending knowing the EHs had been set by Waterpik and Wacker. Shortly after waking the illumination of my phone signaled there would be a Substitution on this Thursday. It was Cowbell informing he was under the weather and would need assistance.. Like a teacher in the school system he put out feelers to others as well to find out who would lead the class.. YHC won the response before the Wacker and took to the chaulk board.

    warmup

IC 10 Windmills, Good Mornings, SSH

IC 15 Seal Jacks, High Knees, Butt Kicks

Moseyed our route through Mandeville with chatter and Illumination along the way.. T-claps to Amnesia for lighting up our path as we completed our 5k and returned to the flag with a decent pace.
Closed with IC 10 Merkins, IC 10 Scorpion kicks and a handful of welcomed stretches and Yoga. Sorry for leaving out the crunchy frogs Cowbell, but I am sure the PAX will get them done remember men D-5 IC 25.

    Amnesia prayed out the PAX

Appreciate the lead and you men following till the next Gloom 👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻

  • What in the world!!

Q arrived to the sights/sounds of Wacker chatter with Steve and Waterpik. This was unexpected as the previous day the Wacker had stated the likeliness of a post was not in his favor. Considering he is embarking on a 50k solo journey to Alabama this weekend, where he will most certainly complete in under 7 hours.. YHC was happy to see the PAX swell to 7 men as 0515 approached and so we got started with our warmup before the journey through Mandeville..

    warmarama

10IC Good mornings, Imperial walkers, Windmills, Butt kicks, Scorpion kicks and followed with some isolation groin stretch left/right and iso hold cobra style..

    thang

Q announced to the PAX his vision of incorporating some back pedals and Caricoas along the route. Intentions were to keep the PAX close in proximity along the way. As we approach the Hermitage subdivision and turn to back pedal and shifted to Caricoa we notice a bystander waiting out front for a buddy with boat in tow. One can only imagine the thoughts in which ran through his mind as 7 F3 brethren greet “Good Morning” as they pass through the darkness..
Holding back as long as he can Wacker decides to break away with his competitive nature to be seen again at the AO.. Hammer and YHC chattered amongst ourselves as Steve, Pik and Akbar pulled the Six for a short period anyway.. We arrived at the pier with the illumination of someone sitting with a computer at the end of the pier and Hammer with his witty movie, song and network programming mentions the series 24!!! Steve you may wanna make a call to your producer for the possibility of a series shot close to home.. Returned to the AO minus 1 as Amnesia decided to catch an extra loop. Took to the ground for 20IC Merkins, 10IC Zoo scissors, 20IC Little Manny crunches, 10IC Right-side Nolan Ryan’s 20IC Mountain climbers and closed with 10IC Left-sided Nolan’s..

Q closed the PAX in prayer!

Grateful to see Waterpik back with the PAX at the Scramble!!

Thanks for following my lead men and 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻 till the next Gloom!

  • EiEi no show!!

Kudos to all the men on the Northshore this week who responded to the ringing of the Cowbell this pass Saturday.. Tuesday produced 8 men with Zoolander back at the weekly post bringing out an FNG “Handy”, 10 on Wednesday with the Manny making a Gipper appearance and Maverick back in the mix as well and Thursday brought out the likes of Akbar with his virgin post at the Scramble.. All in all a great week at the posts and had our “EiEi” posted it would have been even better… Site Q took the helm to lead the PAX on this slightly less humid Gloom.

    Warmarama

10IC Good Mornings, 20IC SSH, 10IC Torso Twists, 20IC Imperial Walkers, 10IC Scorpion kicks and 5 Burpees OYO..

    Thang

T-👏🏻 to Steve for posting although not able to run he stayed at the AO completing some Merkins, Manmakers, Freak Nasties, Core, etc. etc. The 3 Stallions quickly jumped out the gate and began their galloping as 3 Clydesdale’s trotted in the back..

Stallions Bushwacker, Cowbell and Water Pik finished with a high sub 7 pace and rejoined Steve for some of that Core work as the Clydesdale’s came in around high 9s. With a debatable 7 mins remaining YHC brought the PAX over to the exercise equipment for 2 rounds of 7 various movements. 5 pull-ups controlled the rest which consisted of Burpees, Plank Jacks, Chest press, Knee ups, leg raises and Freak nasties..

    Count, Annouce, COT

YHC prayed the PAX out with tribute and remembrance of the lost from Katrina 14 years ago today..

Thanks for following my lead and 👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻 Till the next Gloom!

  • The PAX that ISIs Together Scrambles Together

YHC noticed 69degrees on the dash in the truck while en route, and had to check the date to make sure this wasn’t a dream. It was a great treat indeed to start off a Thursday morning in July with a scramble in such weather! Cowbell arrived an uncharacteristically 3 minutes early in order to get a jump on his planking for the day. And planking was, in fact, to rule the day.

    WARM

    10 Toe Touches

    1 minute plank

    THANG

While the PAX ran the regular route, we stopped at 4 designated spots for 1 minute planks, which kept speedsters Steve and Waterpik in their place. Thus, the scramblers scrambled as one! That was, until Waterpik had to peal off to get home, having to be on the southshore by 7. T claps for showing his dedication by showing up even in a time crunch.

    MARY

You guessed it…another minute of plank. This time followed by 10 burpees just because. We finished up with 3 more minutes for plank.

    COT

count-off and nameorama, with Q praying out in appreciation.

Well done gents! Another gloom in the books here on the north shore.

  • Lone Ranger

Arrived to a quiet Scramble with a lot of regulars deciding to take either a smart sack or a fart sack. Whichever the choice there was a Lone Ranger in Garfield as he appeared out of the darkness minus Tonto. After some chatter we jumped into our warmup.

All IC 10 Windmills, Toe Touches, Imperial Walker Squats and SSH.

Moseyed our route crossing paths with one time poster Roundup as we headed toward the fishing pier.. Garfield and the YHC shared in some great conversation along the way. Garfield clearly showed mercy pacing with the Q as to not leave him journeying all a lone…

Returned to the AO and completed 20 IC Scorpion kicks, 20 IC Little Manny crunches, 20 IC Hello Dollies and closed with 10 IC Jane Fonda’s 10 IC Toe to knee L/R..

    Appreciate the post Garfield!!

  • Strangers at the Scramble from all directions!!

Having talked with Rudy from NOLA on Wednesday he mentioned the Scramble may have a surprise on this Gloom. As the Q cracked his eyelids on this Thursday to the illumination of a strange area code and reading the message he quickly realized the Scramble would indeed have a surprise PAX.. Walking through the park to plant the shovel flag a familiar voice caught my attention. Could it be Captain Sparkles? Following up a recent post at Grandmas House. Or was it Garfield? Having become a staple at the Scramble.. with much joy it was both brothers chattering it up with Water Pik, who the YHC must throwout a T-👏🏻 too for posting and staying consistent even through injury… And with all, was Hot Wheels from Charlotte as Chewy emerged from the darkness to join the PAX.. Respecting the time we circled up to get started and await any possible late arrivals, which indeed we had as Ringo rolls in Hot to join in as we begin warmup..

    Warmup

All to 15 IC, SSH, IW, Windmills, Scorpion 🦂 kicks and finished with Chewys famous “Ws”!!

    Moseyed our routine path!

Returned to the park for 2 cycles through the playground equipment.. PAX held plank as 1 did pull-ups (5) and Knee tucks (10) returning to plank as each man cycled through. R/R adding in Freak Nasties (10) as the PAX changed to right arm high, left arm high and reverse planks till completion…

    Countoff, nameorama, COT

Appreciate the opportunity to lead and for the PAX there to follow!!

Thank you Chewy for closing us out in prayer and safe travels to Hot Wheels!!!
