  • Better Late Than Never – from Architect

Pardon my tardiness and misdescription…Q led PAX through various warm-up movements, of which I have no idea. “7 Minutes of Heaven”, core edition, was commenced. PAX then grabbed rocks, circled up with Q on football field. Q assigned each PAX ONE movement (crucial detail) to be performed. After 20 reps, PAX moved left and performed their neighbors movement. After 20 reps the routine repeated. After 3 transitions, PAX began forgetting what their ONE movement was. Confusion ensued and after 1 complete round PAX were left perplexed as to what movement they should be doing.

Relay races were next. 2 PAX, one rock, 30 yards, merkins and squats without letting rock touch the ground and both PAX must be touching rock at all times.

    COT – FNG Named, Beaker!

  • Rock It, Rock It Real Good – from Fracsac

Conditions: 77 degrees with 86% humidity

11 pax total with 3 splitting off for KnOT’s.

Walk backwards on the track. I read over the weekend it’s good for you.

Mosey to the rock pile for the warmup. Usual stuff finishing with 10 Catalina Wine Mixers IC.

Partner up and grab one rock, a big one. Pax 1 rifle carry while pax 2 does 5 ‘mericans and 5 squats then run to flapjack rock.
Return the big rock and grab a regular rock, partner stuff is over. Head to the parking lot.
Starting at one end using the parking lines as guides, do 5 curls, then run to gym for 5 burpees. Run back to rock and move one parking line closer. Increase by 5 curls each time up to 30.

Head to pavilion for OP, Rows, step ups, dips, and some rock calf raises.

Return the rocks, bear crawl for about a minute, then return to flag.

  • Modified Murph – from Thumb War

    Warmup:

    SSH
    Low slow squats
    Grass grabbers
    Arm circles F & B
    Seal claps
    MNC
    Peter Parkers
    Mountain climbers

Original plan was to run 2 laps around the track, but since the gate was locked we moseyed the outer path the long route to the new playground equipment.

There we partnered up for a half Murphy and modified some.

Collectively in total with your partner:

    50 pull ups
    100 push ups
    150 Air squats
    200 LBC’s

Rules were that you could give your partner a spot for pull ups, but during the other exercises, you had to be either planking or super manning while the other worked.

This went quicker than I expected so we added a round of Bench dips IC.

We then concluded the Murph with a run to the rock pile where each person got a rock for the following:

    2 rounds –

    1st round:
    20 Curls
    20 Thrusters
    20 Rows

    2nd round:
    10 Curls
    10 Thrusters
    10 Rows

We add got on our sixes for presses with our rocks until I was told we were approaching 6:15 so we wrapped up and got back to the flag for COT.

Enjoyed leading as I continue to be more consistent and accurate with my counts. Thanks Mr. Rodgers for asking me to lead and thanks for encouraging the fallen warrior inspired workouts.

Shocker. I’m I had some music critics in the Pax. Bogey called a skip for penalty burpees. Hopefully Mahatma has learned more about New Orleans’ own Grammy award winning Jon Batiste.

  • Catfish? I’ll take it. – from Bogey

Arriving in the usual oblivious fashion…without concern for who the Q might be and what we might be doing. A little chatter among the few there, then a couple more…and then with but a minute until start time Catfish shows up…”Well, since no one stepped up I guess I’ll take the Q. And before I could even think about it I blurted out…”OK, Illbtake it!” Whether we’ll admit it or not, none of us really wanted a Catfishing.
    The rest is history….

  • The Uncertainty Principle – from Heisenberg

YHC arrived at the mothership, the back of my SUV brimming with various. Bogey was there, stretching limbs that maybe wished they were still in bed. Then came Tool, followed closely by Squints, Bongo, and finally Smooth, who lived up to his name, arriving with the elegance of a gazelle. I was hoping for a larger turnout since the plan required splitting the PAX into two teams. Fortunately, Cheesesteak, Vagabond, Fracsac, and Catfish also joined, rounding out the group. Bongo quipped about expecting less running since YHC was leading, but the day’s agenda did include a fair amount of running, though others ended up running more than Bongo.

Following a lackluster disclaimer, as Bogey pointed out, we headed to the Peristyle for our warmup. We circled up and did grass grabbers, windmills, imperial walkers, side straddle hops, and 10 burpees, all in cadence. Afterwards, we went back to my SUV to grab our gear.

We retrieved our tools for the day: the 60-pound sandbag (lovingly referred to as Sandy), an 80-pound sand medicine ball, an assortment of jump ropes, egg weights, a bisected bosa ball that became an object of anatomical humor, a frisbee, a lightsaber (because why not?), a speaker, and the pivotal red die. We took everything to the edge of the great lawn, where we divided into two teams by counting off in alternating “1”s and “2”s, which took a few tries to get right.

Group 1 started with tabata stations on the great lawn while Group 2 began their runs to the bridge by Café du Monde, based on the roll of the die. The tabata exercises included pushups on the bosa ball, deadlifting the heavy sand medicine ball, speed jump roping, burpees with the lighter sandbag, shadowboxing with egg weights, and using the heavy jump rope. The runs were determined by the die: rolls of 1 or 2 meant one trip, 3 or 4 meant two, and 5 or 6 meant three. The goal was to keep the runners’ duration secret from the tabata group, but this rule was frequently broken.

The roles switched after the runners completed their laps, with the tabata group rolling the die and setting off on their runs. There were suspicions that Group 2 might have rerolled a few times, hoping for lower numbers. As time ran short we stopped the rotation with Group 2 getting an extra turn running. YHC called for a round of core exercises—big boy situps, flutter kicks, and American hammers—and threw in an early “recover,” which was met with some groans and hesitations.

We concluded back at the flag where courtesy of Heisenberg — not the meth cook from TV or YHC, but the physicist. I tied in today’s workout with a physics lesson about Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle from quantum mechanics. It states that in quantum mechanics there is a limit to the accuracy with which certain pairs of physical properties, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known. In other words, the more accurately one property is measured, the less accurately the other property can be known. So you were either doing tabata (fixed position) and uncertain about the runners (momentum) or you were running (momentum) and uncertain about what was happening in the fixed position group.
We ended with a Circle of Trust, giving thanks for the day’s efforts and for all the “boobs” in our lives.
Addendum we also learned about the concept of entanglement and may have formed a qubit when Catfish from Group 1 was simultaneously running with Group 2.

  • 9: For/19 – from Bolt

YHC pre-blasted a call for HC the night before as the plan was developing to gauge headcount and in true F3NOLA fashion there’s was minimal response so it was pleasantly surprising to see the mid-field circle grow to 10 pax as the warmorama began with our much beloved theme song (I know Frac secretly has it on “repeat” as he drives to work his 2, soon to be 3 days a week–COMPLIANCE!).
Abe SLOWgodas, SSH, seal/OH claps, tie fighters, self love, mosey to playground to complete warm ups with Morning Calls. Mosey to the rock pile advising pax to select a medium rock they could do lots of reps with, where YHC laid out IN CLEAR DETAIL, that we would do 9 (on 4/19, where’s Rudy when I need him!?) consecutive exercises of 25 reps each OYO and as you finished either plank or SSH on the six.
    OH press
    Squats
    Big boys
    Curls
    Lunges
    American Hammers
    Tricep press
    Calf raises
    Manmakers
The mumblechatter was considerable and distracted the pax from executing properly because after going through the entire list of 9 YHC reiterated the first three as we began to kick us off and announced I’d call them out as we progressed. Some nameless pax (KB/Mr R) were planking after the first 75 reps which created confusion for other pax and elevated the mumblechatter—must get back on the rails. We continued through the next six exercises without much incident and considerably less mumblechatter, especially as the final task of 25 man-makers loomed large (grunts replaced words—success). Round two each pax was issued one of the same nine exercises and led the circle of pax in cadence then the next pax so all 9 are done without stopping: 1 rep each, which Bogey took issue with as not being worth it and also complained about the getting down/up which (was BY DESIGN); along the way we learned Mr. Rogers was never given the you tube link for counting cadence. Subsequent rounds were 2 then 5 then 10 reps per exercise before the next pax led in cadence with slight pauses between rounds to catch our breath.
Next was 5 minute EMOM of what else—10 burpees! This is when Bogey decided to use the burpee rule thinking he was gaming the system yet he simply added more burpees to the count. We finished with protractors.

  • Even the Q Get’s Confused – from Architect

Began the week on the right, or left foot. Q’s confusion began early in warm-ups and continued through the workout. In the end, a solid beat down was delivered.

Group enjoyed “7 Minutes in Heaven”
PAX pushed through various rounds of movements and short runs/rock carries.
    COT commenced

    Happy Monday!

  • Not meant to be a joke….the plan “easy” it was the partnered effort that made it challenging – from Mahatma

April 1 2024 70deg and it’s Rock City. YHC had his black box, playlist ready and a game plan….. Disclaimer given we headed to the field. Tenderloin hit the track to his standard routine so that gave us 9 no what a minute a late undecided 10th arrival; is he a Rucker, Knoter or interested in joining the pack? No amount of camaraderie coaxing could draw the 10th so off he drifted to wonder with out any real plan yet in his mind showing up was 1/2 the battle and a sure win.

During the warm up the 8 were instructed to choose a partner, who was choosing who? Bogey Elgapo Rudy Architect vagabond PoolBoy

Well it worked out and YHC ended up with some 49er from the hills of AR.

Instructions: start with Red Barchetta (for those that know: know 100 SSH, 75 BBS, 50 Squats (Looking at Hawg either I shorted 10 or his youthfulness was just showing off) 25 Hand slap merkins, 10 Burpees
Then straight to the bleachers for the stair snake upon completion run to the start 10 Burpees
Then hit the field for a partner bear crawl push swapping 1/2 way.
Once done head to the goal line where Hawg lead Mary until the 6 showed up.

With that complete we met at some random spot on the track where we were going to run partnered 200s – Rudy was showing his smarts and pointed out to the Q that we had to move to the middle of the track to keep it fair.

With a total mile complete we did a little
Mary: 3 rounds of something then off to the pull up bars for 3 rounds of 3 with 5 Merkins between each round.

Then line up at the track Bernie Sanders back to the start – several of the Yutes took off to push the pack.

Finished with another round of Mary and a few April Fools promises of it being the last round.

COT – with a little bit of passionate prayer for male leadership.
