  • The 4 Fs at Okwata – from Fracsac

YHC pulled up to Okwata to find the Pax gabbing about something. It seemed funny, which is probably why JV looked annoyed.
Disclaimer given, and mosey around the fountain and circle up for the warmup.

Warmup was regular stuff with a unstable Abe Vigoda thrown in. I’d explain, but not really sure what happened, so let’s move on.

Mumblechatter continued as YHC explained the next evolution called Double Shots at the Barre with Jack Webb. People’s chair on the fountain rails until all listened. They seemed to be still in awe of the unstable Abe Vigoda. Merkins followed by air presses in the people’s chair, 1 and 2, 2 and 4, etc.,

Mosey to the lakefront for Route 66 with burpees at the light poles working toward canal. JV laughed at my attempt to bring the heat.

There was talk of Lake derkins, but Okwata was way too calm, so we moseyed to Canal for Dirty Mac Deuce. 4 rounds of 3 x 12 count exercises with a lap around the H8 course between rounds. This was where my beat down was deemed a success. Read below to see why.

Upon reading this title you likely asked yourself what the 4th F is? Of course there is Fitness Fellowship and Faith which everyone knows. The 4th F is the successful beat down where JV delivers the F bomb! It was a proud moment in this Q’s war chest. Now, it’s not just your run of the mill F bomb, it must be delivered in a way that is directed toward the exercise being executed.

The Mumblechatter pretty much ceased once the burpees started. They have that effect.

We’re still not talking about the unstable Abe Vigoda.

  • 12 Days of Fitmas – from Bolt

9:00 pm Thursday night seeing an empty Q sheet, I decided to grab the Q as site Q but not via the sheet, figuring at that hour all the good pax were fast asleep and it was time for a Fitmas beatdown. Arriving about two minutes before Mahatma and announcing it would b Fitmas to which Mahatma grumbled something about, “if the site Q would…”
…my mind drifted away and YHC then asked for a show of hands for Fitmas with/out rocks and two of nine votes were FOR rocks—rocks it is! Off to the rock pile for warmup.
SSH (20), Abe SLOWgodas, IW, Nancy Kerrigan/Tanya Harding arm circles (forward/back, alternating single foot) chinooks, MNC (all 15x), self love (10); Toy soldiers, Hairy Rockettes (15x). Carry rocks to hill by dog park and perform reps equal to the day number followed by the previous days:
Day 1: Mosey across the hill with Rick back and forth as days are added
    Day 2: Diamond merkins
    Day3: Blockees
Day 4: Reverse Lunges (2:1, no coupon)
    Day 5: Squat Thrusters, coupon
    Day 6: Box Cutters
    Day 7: Tricep coupon presses
    Day 8: Plank Jacks
    Day 9: Overhead coupon presses
    Day 10: Big Boy sit-ups
    Day 11: Lying Block presses
    Day 12: Mtn. Climbers

My watch recorded a max heart rate of 179; I hope the other pax had similar results. Upon completion I was wet, muddy, oxygen deprived and honored for the chance to lead.

  • VQ at SCRUM – from CyberCajun

Well the backblast is only ***2*** days late..

Fortunately I was not late to my VQ! HawgCycle and I arrived early for some last minute pointers

    Started off with some warmups:

    – Side Straddle Hops x 10,
    – Peter Parkers x10
    – Imperial Walkers x 10
    – Parker Peters x 10
    – Moroccan night club x 15

    **Leg 1**
Running roughly 1/2 mile, stopping at every other light for

    – Merkins x 3
    – Sit-ups x 6
    – Side Straddle Hops x 9

    **Leg 2**
Stopping our run at the handy outdoor resistance machines – these things are really neat!
Rotated counter clockwise every 45 seconds and we completed 2 rotations of various upper body workouts including one triple station with PAX choice of pull-ups, dips, or MORE sit-ups in case Leg 1 was not ab-tastic enough

    **Leg 3**
Simple Mosey back to the flag, and some cooldowns. Low Slow Squats, Self Love, and some arm circles wrapped up the day

COT and I prayed us out

    Good Coffe at CC’s

    Only **mild** heckles when I

    1. Accidentally did Parker-Peters when I announced Peter-Parkers
    2. Called out “In Cadence” after I’d just said we’d jog Leg 1 on our own and meet at the machines
    3. Did not tell Frac he had PAX Choice at the triple machine and he did a set of sit-ups

  • The 5Q Foundry – from Fracsac

Doomsday was upon us, or at least that was what meteorologists across the south were claiming. In defiance of these alarms, 5 HIMs posted at the Foundry expecting gale force winds and horizontal rain.
Weather conditions were 72 degrees and muggy with a 5 mph southerly breeze.

No Q signed up and there was tension in the humid air. Pop Tart cut the tension like a butter knife goes through a strawberry pastry with a disclaimer and instructions to head to the Foundry. Once at the Foundry Glitterballs calls a Sudden Change and instructs the Pax to do a Half Murph, then asks what it consists of. Clearly this was meant to intimidate the other 4.
Tool then grabs the Q for some Core work, then one ups the intimidation factor by making us call out merkins in a ring of fire followed by 10 minutes of clockwise pax choice core work. The tension was getting too thick, so YHC had to intervene! Move to the grassy area for the following:
Prisoner genuflect followed by 1 burpee
Prisoner genuflect followed by 2 burpees
    Continue up to 5 burpees.

Scooter couldn’t keep himself contained any longer and gave the order to head back to the flag completing 10 derkins at each bench along the way. Thank all that is good we ran out of time after 5 benches….

-The meteorological folks likely kept a lot of Pax in the fartsack.
-Johnny Lawrence from Karate Kid and Cobra Kai were discussion points during the half Murph. Then it was brought up he was in One of the Guys, another 80s movie where he played a bully. He always plays a bully.
-Montana is a place Tool wants to see, mainly because he watched Yellowstone. I’ve been there but I’ve never watched Yellowstone. But we both like Johnny Lawrence. Don’t judge….

  • Introducing the New Sweetheart – from Fracsac

YHC pulled up to the Renaissance AO 4 minutes early and found Wapner to be the lonely Pax, but now we were 2! The flag was planted, a disclaimer given, and face the bacon for the warmup. 2 more pax filtered in during the warmup.

With 4 of us, YHC grabbed the 60 lb sandbag known as Sweetness plus a new toy….a 53 lb sand kettlebell! Partner up for Dora 1..2..3.

    100 burpees
    200 Big Boi Sit-ups
    300 Squats

Partner 2 grabs one of the ladies and goes one quarter way around NOMA and back.
During this evolution Pax #5 showed up and got in on the action.

    Stations:
    Burpees x10 (timer)
    Sandbag Cleans with Sweetness (AMRAP)
    Jump rope (AMRAP)
    Kettlebell swings (AMRAP)

  • The Pride is Back – from Mama’s Pride

We started off the morning with some SSH, Grass Grabbers, Windmills, Mountain Climbers, and Arm Circles. Once we finished a nice, cold mosey to the base of the mountain, the Pax took part in some good ole ab exercises: LBCs and American Hammer.
As a shock to some of our visitors from other New Orleans area AOs, the Pax then did some Washington Football Team Bear Crawls up the mountain before moseying to the top for alternating sets of 45 seconds of wall sits and Derkins before heading down the other side of the mountain.
The Pax took in some Dora of 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, and 300 Freddy Mercurys (or ies, idk), with partners running back up the Mountain. After the Dora, the Pax started heading back over the mountain by doing some ladder exercises, which are the Q’s favorites. For the ladder we added a new exercise at each stop to the prior exercise. The exercises were made up of 10 Merkins, 10 Derkins, 15 dips, and 15 BBSU.
The Pax was complaining that we had run out of time for some ultimate football, so we closed out the workout with a few minutes of that. Of course, the Pax then complained that their feet were wet from ultimate football.
We closed out with the COT.

  • From Silence to Mayhem-2 – from Mahatma

10 pax, including an FNG (Kyle) gathered to start the road to recovery – from the gluttony of the extended Thanksgiving weekend. No doubt YHC was confident it would not be a solo calorie burn as Hokie texted his committed presence while in route. After a quick disclaimer and a short mosey to an opening just of the track there was a quick stretch and warm up.

Then to the surprise and delight of the pax, YHC gave calming instructions that for the next 10 minutes the work would be in silence, simply follow whatever exercise YHC was performing – SSH – Vups – Merkins – Squats – Burbee – Mnt Climbers – Toy Soldiers – LBCs continue to rinse and repeat as YHC continued.
Complete mosey to the rocks, get one and line up for Indian Walk to the Hill.

Split up 1/2 & 1/2 – drop rocks on either side meet on top for the instructions. It started as a 1771 where 2 exercises were to be done crossing to either side each time crossing either perform 5 merkins or 3 burpees – YHC intended for 3 rounds that included a bear crawl around the base yet his ability communicate clear instructions was a clear failure and slice of humble pie. The pax vocalized this clearly yet attempted to follow the folly of Mayhem even to give it a 2nd try. YHC accepts the failure as a learning experience and challenge to come up with better plan for a future beatdown!

Grabbing our rocks we headed to the pavilion YHC spirts were lifted as comments were made that he came close to other highly respected HIMs who try to implement creative pax activities therefore taking our comfort zones to new levels. (Mahatma’s Mayhem will return for a 3rd attempt!)

5 box jumps followed by a burpee x 5. Fast Tax was determined to put perform the pax by increasing his burpees with each round so 5BJs 1 Burpee then 5BJs 2 Burpees and so on……hard charger!

25 leg lifted rock chest press
    20 WII sit ups

    Return the rocks.

COT Kyle was tagged with the name “Mayhem” in honor of him holding his composure and seemingly gleefully for a return!

Prayers or gratitude, grace and humility of service.

  • Pre-feast calorie burn – from Mahatma

It was 5:27 Cool and comfortable – YHC was staring into the darkness and no pax! The decision was made to position his truck for a 5:31 departure yet at 5:29 headlights coming…..white Dodge – YHC new it was a Frac sighting and pulled back into the parking lot. 2 more sets pulled in so our number doubled to 4!

After disclaimer the outline for the beatdown was explained……simple enough don’t stop moving even when your waiting (SSH or Scuba Kicks). All movement was Indian Run style. Every 5 minutes we would halt whatever we were doing for a round robin set of Mary.

Warm up – IR around the fountain – JackWeb then IR up the levee to the House of Pain – 3 rounds of 5 pull ups – IR to the end of the levee sharp turn down and across a VERY wet field for street sign dead lift – IR to the corner (quick instructions for 1 round of the “H8” Indian style of course – finishing at the corner we used another downed street sign for 1 round of rows – IR to the Seawall 2 rounds of Indian style push-up ladder – IR to the opposite end of Seawall then 2 rounds of 3 box jumps then1 burpee x 5 – IR back to the HofP 2 rounds of 5 pull ups – line up at the base of the levee 3 rounds of sprints up walk down the backside sprint back up. Finished with Frac leading the last round of Mary.
