  • 12-0 at #Rockne City

What a beautiful, cool, crisp day for football. Or at least to celebrate football. So 18 men gathered in the gloom at Pontiff Park in a celebration of Notre Dame’s undefeated season, Rockne style. OK, so maybe 1 man was celebrating Notre Dame’s perfect season, but that man was the Q (YHC) so he forced his opinions on everybody else. I know Rudy was with me in spirit. A quick disclaimer and off we go.

    The Warm-Up:

    SSH x 20 IC
    Peter Parkers x 20 IC
    Hill Billies x 20 IC
    Plank Jacks x 20 IC
Arm Circles IC, 10 Forward, 10 Backwards
    Windmills x 10 IC
    Mountain Climbers x 20 IC

Grad a rock and head to the track.

    The 12:
Notre Dame finished the 2018 season undefeated at 12-0. Our last undefeated season was 2012. Notre Dame was the only college football team to beat 12 FBS schools this season. And if we win 2 more games, we will win our 12th national championship. The Pax could hardly contain their excitement. Da Parrish and Bogey marveled at Notre Dame’s gauntlet of a schedule. Rev Sox and Hand-Granada were speechless. War Eagle knew it was coming, and did not show because he could not bear it. Hawg removed his shoes in homage. Mahatma was so inspired, he almost removed his Clemson orange t-shirt (but he didn’t…)

12 reps of each rock exercise to celebrate the 12 victories this year. 3 rounds to celebrate the #3 ranking.
Rock shoulder press x 12 IC
    Rock curls x 12 IC
    Rock rows x 12 IC
    Rock squats x 12 IC
Rock chest press x 12 IC
One lap around the track, sprint the straight aways, jog the curves.

Rock shoulder press x 12 IC
    Rock curls x 12 IC
    Rock rows x 12 IC
    Rock squats x 12 IC
Rock chest press x 12 IC
One lap around the track, sprint the straight aways, jog the curves.

Rock shoulder press x 12 IC
    Rock curls x 12 IC
    Rock rows x 12 IC
    Rock squats x 12 IC
Rock chest press x 12 IC
One lap around the track, sprint the straight aways, jog the curves.

    Circle up for some Mary
    LBC x 20 IC
    Penguins x 20 IC
    Flutter kicks x 20 IC
    Dying cockroach x 20 IC
    Hello Dolly x 20 IC
    American Hammer x 20 IC

Finally, rock lunges with a twist x 10 IC.

The we returned our beloved rocks, and moseyed back to the flag.
High plank for 30 sec, left arm plank for 30 sec, right arm plank for 30 sec.
    Left leg cross-over Merkins x 10, Right leg cross-over Merkins x 10.
Hamstring stretches for a cool down, and a strong finish.
Count off, name-o-rama, announcements, intentions, and a prayer. Hawg thoughtfully offered a prayer for Notre Dame to beat Clemson (at least I think that’s what he meant…)

Thanks for letting me lead. Here’s to a great season. Go Irish!

  • Rain or Shine at the Mothership!!!

    Pre-Thang

23 PAX with 2 FNGs managed to meet up on a beautiful, wet, humid, warm Saturday morning on the first day of December.  At 6:30, YHC gave his standard disclaimer and off went the PAX.

(missing PAX in the photo: Bogey, King Kong, Smooth, SwampCock)

    Warm-ups

Short mosey to the Peristyle and did the following in cadence:

    SSHs x 20

    Windmills x 10

    Forward Arm Circles x 10

    Backward Arm Circles x 10

Hill Billies x 20 (with Fracsac’s witty comments as YHC was trying to explain what the heck are the Hill Billies to the FNGs)

    Peter Parkers x 15

    MC x 15

    Partner Workout

Picked a partner and jogged across the street to the Great Lawn. Magically, bunch of cones (dividing the field in halves) were set up in the middle of the field.

Part 1 – Starting in the middle of the field, each PAX ran toward his sidewalk and back to the middle and performed 15 patty cake merkins with his partner, rinse and repeat with 10 reps, rinse and repeat with 5 reps.

Part 2 – Starting in the middle of the field, each PAX ran toward his sidewalk and back to the middle and performed 20 synchronize big boy sit ups. Rinse and repeat with 15, 10, and 5 reps.

Part 3 – Starting in the middle of the field, each PAX ran toward his sidewalk and back to the middle and performed 20 synchronize squats. Rinse and repeat with 15, 10, and 5 reps.

Part 4 – Starting in the middle of the field, each PAX ran toward his sidewalk and back to the middle and each PAX performed 5 burpees jump over. One PAX was doing the burpee jump over the other PAX, who was in the low plank position. Flap Jack. Each PAX did 4 rounds (total 20 burpees jump over each)

When finished, Mahatma-Ice gave a 20 second count, then moseyed to the fountain in front of NOMA and waited for the six.

    The Thang

Starting off at the fountain in front of NOMA, each Pax had to do the following OYO:

    Round 1

    • 20 box jumps
    • 20 incline merkins
    • 15 box jumps
    • 15 merkins
    • 10 box jumps
    • 10 derkins
    • 5 box jumps
    • 5 diamond merkins
    • then moseyed to the last light post and back to the fountain (about 0.5 mile)

Round 2 – rinse and repeat but shaved off the first set of 20 box jumps and 20 incline merkins, then moseyed to the 7th light post and back.

Round 3 – rinse and repeat but shaved off another set of 15 box jumps and 15 merkins, then moseyed to the 5th light post and back.

Round 4 – rinse and repeat but shaved off another set of 10 box jumps and 10 derkins (leaving with only 5 box jumps and 5 diamond merkins), then moseyed to the 3rd light post and back.

In addition to the mileage, the PAX toughed out 100 box jumps and 100 different forms of merkins.

T-claps to Mahatma-Ice for setting the tone early. Not an easy task to do 100 box jumps, all those merkins, and all those miles. Once again, everyone got stronger for coming out to a F3 workout. Respect!!!

    Round of Mary

Moseyed to the grass field next to NOMA and did the following in cadence:
    Hello Dolly x 20
    Dying Cockroach x 20
    Flutter kicks x 20
    American Hammer x 15
Moseyed back to the flag with 30 seconds left. Why not 3 more burpees???  PAX finished the workout at 7:30 a.m.
    COT

Count-O-Rama 23PAX, Name-O-Rama, announcements, intentions. 2 FNGs (Hank and Hatchling).  Hank is a reference from King of the Hill. Hatchling because he is only 18. Our thoughts and prayers for I Love You Man’s niece with her recovery from brain surgery and King Kong’s 2.0 with her girls’ scout camping over the weekend. Thank You all again for the opportunity to lead. Always a pleasure and honor to workout with the PAX. SYITG

  • Bringing a Typical Uptown Beat-down to the Mothership

    Pre-Thang

Gabrielle originally had the Q for this Mothership.  He had asked if YHC could take the Q.  Although YHC has another Mothership Q scheduled on Dec 1st, YHC was more than happy to help a F3 brother out and lead another workout. 22 PAX managed to meet up on a beautiful, dry, cool Saturday morning.  At 6:30, YHC gave his standard disclaimer and off went the PAX.

    Warm-ups

Short mosey to the Peristyle and did the following in cadence:

    SSHs x 20

    Windmills x 10

    Seal Claps x 15

    Hill Billies x 20

    Imperial Walkers x 20

    MC x 20

    Peter Parkers x 20

Then picked a partner and jogged across the street to the Great Lawn. Side hopped while facing the partner from one end of the field to the other.  5 burpees. Then side hopped back to the other direction facing the partner. 4 burpees. Rinse and repeat side hopped from one end to the other with decreasing count on burpees from 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. When finished, moseyed with the partner to the fountain in front of NOMA and performed 10 box jumps. Planked and waited for the six.

    The Thang (Chipper Workout)

Because YHC doesn’t see much of the PAX from Metairie and MidCity at Uptown AOs, YHC decided to bring a typical Birdcage / Skinny workout to the Metairie and MidCity folks. Starting off by the steps in front of NOMA, each Pax had to do the following:

    Round 1

    • 50 Rocky Balboa (2 steps count as 1) in front of NOMA,
    • to the fountain with 50 dips
    • to the first light post with 5 burpees
    • to the 2nd light post with 50 Hello Dollies
    • to the 3rd light post with 5 Burpees
    • to the 4th light post with 50 squats
    • to the 5th light post with 5 burpees
    • to the 6th light post with 50 leg raises
    • to the 7th light post with 5 burpees
    • to the 8th light post with 50 King Kong shoulder taps.
    • Then moseyed back about a quarter mile to the steps in front of NOMA.  Rinse and repeat.

Round 2 – rinse and repeat but shaved off the reps for all exercises to 40 count and all burpees to 4 count.

Round 3 – rinse and repeat but shaved off another set of reps for all exercises to 30 count and all burpees to 3count.

Round 4 – rinse and repeat but shaved off another set of reps for all exercises to 20 count and all burpees to 2 count.

Round 5 – rinse and repeat but shaved off another set of reps for all exercises to 10 count and all burpees to 1 count.

Each lap is approximately 0.5 mile.  In total, the PAX toughed out 60 burpees and 150 reps on each exercise and little less than 2.5 miles.

While YHC was giving the instruction for the Thang, a lot of mumblechatter.  Triple Shift informed YHC with “that’s a lot of leg raises.”  The time was approximately 6:53 when the PAX started.  The goal was to finish all 5 rounds before 7:30.  YHC knew this would not be an easy challenge.

Respect to Jingle Vader setting the tone early and starting at a very fast pace. Not sure what happened, but Triple Shift was screaming at JV telling him to come back during the first round.  The PAX finished strong.  T-Claps to Triple Shift, Tinkles, Rudy, JV, and Two Yutes for finishing the beatdown before 7:30. YHC had to call off the challenge right at 7:30, but much respect to few PAX (Mambi, Walleye, Fracsac – I may be missing few names here) ignoring the Q’s request and finishing all 5 rounds regardless of the time.  YHC loved it because he would do the same.  Needless to say, moseyed back to the flags few minutes late at about 7:35. YHC got a sense that everyone really enjoyed the challenge.  This was YHC’s most satisfying Q when he saw the PAX not giving up and giving every thing they had. The PAX who gave YHC a hard time about the leg raises finished first. 3 PAX finishing within the time were over 50. Everyone who came out today got stronger. Mad respect. YHC has a feeling the PAX will see this challenge again.

  • Stop me if you’ve heard this before

Today marks year 3 of YHC’s F3 addiction.  Thanks to the brotherhood which has welcomed me, challenged me, improved me.  Its been a great ride, and one I look forward to for many more years.  I hope that in some small way, I’ve helped other F3 members in the same way that everyone around the Flag has helped me.

So – what better way to celebrate 3 years than by replaying the workout that first got me hooked on this.  Back before Hawg became a stoner, he was a thrust into the role of Emergency Q, as the Q for the morning of November 23rd, 2015 failed to show.  No, it was not “Shorty”.  It was a true and faithful brother of a slightly different height.

    Looking for Amnesty

In hindsight, I have no idea how I survived that workout.  As Mambi referred to his first workout – I would echo that description for mine: “From Couch to F3”.  But it hooked me, and set me on a path.

So here we are – November 19th, 2018.  Anniversary #3.  What did I do for the anniversary?  Uh, the same thing I did on November 23rd, 2015.  Same as I did on November 21st, 2016.  Same as I did on November 20th, 2017…  I’ve never been called “creative”.

Mosey to the Rock Pile!  Oh wait, an old-school Cowbell Special: 10 Burpees OYO before we get started

    Warm Up

SSH x5.  Then grab a rock.  Some muttering about how the warmup was as hard as Notre Dame’s schedule.  I will remember that comment, Rev-Sox.  But we’ve got to get busy.

    The Thang

The thang that hooked me.  The Lieutenant Dan.  Yes, Bogey – WITH A ROCK.  At the end of the tree line, start Lunging and Squatting until you get to the fence.  x2.  x4.  x6.  Must. Keep. Going.  That’s a loooong way to that fence.  When you get there, no rest for the weary!  Grab a People’s Chair on the fence while we wait on the 6.  Mix in some curls while waiting for Triple Shift to finish hauling the largest rock ever seen.

Once everyone gathered at the fence, it was time to give the legs a breather.  What better way to rest the legs than with The Jack Webb.  Yes, Amnesty – WITH A ROCK.  Merkins (one arm on the rock), Rock Presses.  1x/2x.  2x/4x.  Up to 8x/16x.  Hand Grenada 20 count, please!

Circle up for some Mary.  One group of 4 PAX scoot over to the playground.  Everone get in a solid 10 Pull Ups, with spotting if needed.  Then hurry back.  Rest of the PAX are doing Mary.

    • Dying Cockroaches while PAX group 1 followed King Kong’s slow mosey return, hanging us out to dry.  31.  32.  33.  34……
    • Hello Dolly for PAX group 2, who seemed to understand that they should try and move a bit faster.
    • Leg Raises for PAX group 3
    • Flutter Kicks for PAX group 4

Time to start moseying back.  And by Moseying back, I meant The Lieutenant Dan.  Yup, go the other way down the field.  Same as the first time.  Only Al Gore at the end.  Thanks, Kuch, for explaining the Al Gore to Momma and Dem.  “You see, you’re hugging a tree.  A tree hugger.  Get it?  Get it?”  As we again waited on Triple Shift, the PAX were given the choice of modifying the Al Gore: do it with your rock, or do it like Rudy (sans Rock).  Bogey tried with a rock for about 10 seconds, then decided he’d rather be like Rudy.  Good choice!

Next up – another Hawg special from my second week: the Bloom Where You Are Planted.  Grab your rock.  The goal is to NOT PUT IT DOWN.

    • Shoulder Press, Curl, Row, Squat, Bench Press x12
    • Repeat x10
    • Repeat x8

Time to return.  But Mambi wanted more – so one more Shoulder Press x6, just for you.  Now return the rocks and head back to the flag.

Back at the Flag, PAX did 10 more OYO burpees, just because Rev-Sox thought we needed a bit more from the workout.

Count Off, Name-o-Rama, Announcements, Intentions and circle up for the sweaty Circle of Trust.  Thank you all for what you’ve given me.  And thanks for the opportunity to lead again.

  • Okwata – Physical Fury

Okwata – there is no AO more unpredictable!  This time of year is a crapshoot as to weather but when you sign up to Q you get rolling either way!

11 men showed up to the lakefront to work.  After a short disclaimer Triple Shift and his buddy (one day to join the pax, Adam) decided to skip the work out and take a walk along the lake.

The rest of us took a short mosey to warm up:

Short run with high knees and carioca around the fountain then circle up

    SSH x 25

    Side lunges x 25

Head to the levee – line up for India Run – Pax the takes the lead and instructs the group what exercise shouts disperse – all PAX runs down the levee performs a 3 count then runs back to the top and the run continues until all have had a chance to lead.     JV decided that the PAX had not embraced the suck of the wet ground and had us perform superman roll to back cross – this got the group fired up.

    Now time to work:

    1-5 levee work

    Start with

1 Burpee – run up levee perform 5 Merkin Jacks on top run down perform a Burpee run back up 5 Merkin Jacks run down

Now 2, then 3, then 4, then 5 – Performing the 5 Merkin Jacks each time you hit the top of the levee

    1 minute plank recovery

Partner Up – Wheel Barrel to the top (NOTE we did move down to a lower section)

Pax 1 and 2 perform plank high fives – up to 10 by 2’s (right hand then left hand = 1)

Then Pax 1 holds Pax 2’s feet as he upper body bear crawls up the levee

Rinse and repeat 4 times so each PAX got 2 shots at climbing the levee!

    1 minute plank recovery

Mosey back to the flag – apology to Abacus – he was tying his shoes and we took off not realizing he was pulling a hard 6!  He caught up and we started some Mary!

Combo x 20 2 count – Dying Cockroach into Penguins

Combo x 20 2 count – In and Out to flutter kicks

    High Plank J – Lo’s x 15 2 count

    COT

Give thanks and take nothing for granted – carry forgiveness in our hearts!

Let’s do this again some time!

  • War Eagle VQ

    Pre-Thang:

Over the last three months, YHC has quietly sat back an observed all that is F3. Trying to explain F3 to family and friends makes YHC sound like he joined a cult. “Yea, so me and a bunch of random guys I  don’t know show up early in the morning for a workout. We have code names and end each workout by getting in a big circle and praying.” Regardless, YHC has discovered that F3 is the real deal. Physically, I am in the best shape of my life, and mentally you have all stretched me further than I could on my own. For that, I say thank you to all.

YHC was volunteered for this workout (thanks, Rev Sox), but I have discovered the best workouts are planned, and the PAX ends sweaty…

    Welcome, Disclaimer, Mosey.

    Warm-Up:

SSH X 29 (Random number stuck n my head from this past weekend :))

    Mountain Climbers X 25

    Imperial Walkers X 20

    Windmills X 10

    Arm Circles X 10

    Peter Parkers X 20

    Hillbillies X 20

    The Thang:

Mosey to the Hill for 11’s…

    First side – burpees

    Bear crawl uphill

    Crab walk downhill

    Second side – jump squats

Mosey to the field and partner up…

200 LBCs as a pair. The first partner does LBCs while the second partner lays down and holds legs 6 inches off the ground. Rotate every 20.

200 squats as a pair. The first partner squats while the second partner does a sitting squat, Rotate every 20.

    Back to the flag.

  • Red Badger Friday

    Red Badger Friday

Seven Pax gathered in the gloom of Friday, November 2nd for a beatdown in honor of Chief Petty Office Mark “Badger” Carter. On December 11, 2007, the Badger (the 5’5″ Carter received his nickname after besting a fellow Seal who was 6’5″ in a wrestling match) was killed while fighting in Iraq along with his fellow Navy Seals. We honor him by pushing ourselves in this morning’s beatdown.

    Warm-Up

    SSH – 20

    Peter Parkers – 20

    Shoulder Taps – 20

    Hillbillies – 20

    The Badger

Grab your rock for the Badger which consisted of six rounds of fun. Each round was one lap around the track followed by 15 squats with a large rock and then 15 pull-ups. Most of the Pax knocked out the six rounds with a few throwing in some extra credit work. Tclaps to Triple Shift for doing his squats with a boulder.

    Renamed

    Count-off, Name-O-Rama and then…

Tool requested a name change for Stone Age who received his name last Friday. Tool asked that his suggestion of Stonehenge be considered since he couldn’t pull it out of his memory last week. YHC was feeling generous as Stone Age gave him the best compliment he has received since joining F3 about half way through the Badger, so Stone Age has been renamed to Stonehenge.

We ended in prayer with much prayer being sought for the parents of our Pax. May God empower us to be faithful sons to the men and women who raised us as they age.

    -RevSox

  • Superhero’s and Scary creatures – It must be Halloween

12 PAX met this morning in the gloom of City Park @ the Foundry.  I was expecting to see a few Pax in costume, but only saw a group of men, many in F3 shirts/gear.  We certainly were a scary looking group.     With Voodoo fest still having an impact in the Park, we were somewhat limited in where we could workout this morning.   We moseyed to the lawn in front of the new Children’s Museum for our warm-up as follows:

    SSH x 31

Imperial Walkers x 31 (in honor of my youngest son  (Tiny 2000 or Deduction) who was a storm trooper this evening.

Arm Circles – 10 forward and 10 backward

    Windmills x 20

We moseyed back to the neutral ground area near the flag at the entrance to Roosevelt Mall for the following Halloween themed/superhero/scary workout.    YHC had four pumpkins in a square about 20 paces apart.

Corner 1 – Peter Parkers (spiderman/superhero) x 31, bear crawl (spider crawl) to Corner 2

    Corner 2 – Big Boy Situps (Mummy sit-ups) x31, crab walk/crawl to Corner 3

Corner 3 – Parker Peters (spiderman/superhero) x31, bear crawl (spider crawl) to Corner 4

Corner 4 – Skeleton Jacks (modified SSH squat thrust) x31, crab walk/crawl back to Corner 1

Then run (from the Zombies) the loop of Roosevelt Mall and meet back at the cones/pumpkins.     We were able to finish two complete sets of the exercises above.   With the remaining few minutes we finished with some plank exercise, flutter kicks and some Halloween Burpees.

Announcements, Intentions, and Ball of Man.   Thank you all for the opportunity to lead.  Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

  • The Early Bird

They say, “The Early Bird Gets the Worm.” F3 Men must get lots of worms, because we get at it early for the morning beatdown. This morning YHC was looking to get it started extra earlier as he started the disclaimer at 5:28am. Several of the Pax quickly pointed out that he was jumping the gun, and he discovered that his watch was two minutes fast, so he backed off.

Two minutes later…disclaimer, 13 Pax in attendance as we took off on a mosey to the rock pile for the Warm-Up

    Special Guest Q

YHC noticed several weeks ago that his brother War Eagle was starting to look fairly comfortable at F3 workouts(as comfortable as one can be at a pre-sunrise beatdown). He was running with the Pax and never finishing as the 6, so YHC took it upon himself to sign up War Eagle to Q the Uptowner in November. Today was the morning for War Eagle to practice his cadence in anticipation of the big day. War Eagle was more than up to the task as for the first time in my year of F3, a rookie led the warm-up with no snide remarks or “helpful” comments from the Pax.

    SSH – 25

    Mountain Climbers – 20

    Imperial Walkers – 20

    Peter Parkers – 20

    Hillbillies – 20

    Parker Peters – 20

    Route 66

Time for everyone’s favorite moment of the work week – let’s grab a rock. We picked up our rocks and moseyed to the far tree line near the picnic benches for some Route 66. YHC enjoyed this workout so much on his last Q that he had to go for another round. Ascending tricep extensions starting with 1 at the first tree and ending with 11 extensions on the 11th tree. Let’s get those triceps burning.

    Suicide By Merkins

YHC set out 4 cones on the field this morning, so the Pax could begin and end the workout with some suicides. The Pax was grateful for YHC’s planning. The opening suicide was Suicide By Merkins. Run a standard suicide but at every cone, hit the ground, and knock out 10 merkins for a total of 80. Tricpes were burning more after the merkins.

    The Conveyor Belt

Mahatma-Ice made a call for the Pax to select rocks for Rock City as opposed to pebbles or skipping stones. YHC decided that Mahatma was right, so he led in a workout that would require the Pax to use everyone else’s rocks to challenge the whole Pax to up our rock size (unless you are Mahatma or Triple, for them this workout just led to a break from their normal boulder workouts). Two men were stationed at each of the trees that were used for Route 66. YHC would lead an exercise in cadence, following the exercise, the Pax will drop their rocks, and bear crawl to the next tree or rock pair. The Pax did exercises until everyone did one exercise at each tree.

The exercises for the conveyor belt:

    Shoulder Press

    Curls

    Rockettes

    Rows

    Curls

    Low Slow Squats

    Bench Press

    The Picnic Benches

From the tree line, we took our rocks to the picnic benches for a few exercises.

    Channing Tatums – 20

Sit down, Stand Up with Rock (Don’t ask it was dumb)

    Tatum Channgings – 20

    Sitting on the Wall

YHC always loves a good wall sitting on rock days. The Pax sat until YHC’s legs began to burn then started a 20 count of rows in cadence. Shook out our legs and then sat again. This round of sitting ended with 20 count curls in cadence.

    Standard Suicide

Back to the field for a good old fashioned suicide. YHC was slightly disappointed by the Pax’s speed on the suicide. Next time he Q’s there will be more suicides at Rock City.

    Mary

The Pax was instructed to deposit their rocks on the pile and return to the flag. YHC got a little confused during the workout due to the time being off on his watch. Instead of arriving at the flag 2 minutes late (6:15am to the world), he arrived 2 minutes early (6:11am). This meant 4 minutes of the Mary that he was hoping to avoid.

    LBC – 25

    Penguins – 20

    Hello Dolly – 15

    Wife Pleasers – 20

    The Conclusion

Count-Off, Name-0-rama, Announcements (2.0 workout on Saturday at 7:30am at Audubon Park and the Fight Club at 5:30am on Wednesday), Intentions, Prayer

Thanks for the opportunity to lead and a special thanks to War Eagle for his F3 growth. If anyone wants to guest Q at the Fight Club in Kenner let me know.

Rev Sox (I’ve never hated my name more than right now – Go Dodgers!)

Your QIC had a really rough week with work and dealing with trolls on Social Media.  It’s crazy how people act so ugly and with such vitriol, when behind a computer screen and it has bled over into face to face encounters.  After witnessing the unraveling of civility in our society these past years, it’s so easy to withdraw from the fray and disconnect from making a positive difference.  Well, that is where we as the F3 Nation are creating leaders through physical training.

Leaders by nature are agents of change!  We must change for the betterment for ourselves, our families, our friends, and our community.  It all starts with taking the Daily Red Pill (DRP) and making the choice to get stronger physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally and spiritually.  Without the support and encouragement of my brothers of F3 NOLA, I could not be the leader I was designed to be.  So thankful and blessed to be part of this PAX’s Shield Lock!

Proverbs 27:17 (AMP) As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens and influences another through dialogue.

The goal today was to show the importance of having that Shield Lock or at least a Wing Man to keep us accountable.  So the theme was partner workouts!

    WARMUP

Proceded with the Disclaimer and had to pause so the PAX could finish their discussions with each other (not going to mention anyone), I completed my monologue and headed to the Great Lawn only to find it sopping wet.  I don’t have a problem getting soaking wet in a workout but I would like to start off dry so we headed to the Peristyle and Ovaled up.

20 SSH, 20 Hillbilly, 10 Abe Vigoda, 10 Arm Circles (Front and Back), 20 Red Bull Smurf Jacks (is that fast enough for you Rudy and Fracsac?), 10 Peter Parker Merkins, 10 Imperial Squat Walkers all In Cadence.

    THE THANG

We partnered up and took turns piggybacking to the front of NOMA which was about 1/4 mile.  From there we headed to the tree line for a modified Flora.  It was 100 hand slap merkins, 200 Leg throws and 200 squats / Al Gore.  This was a cumulative effort.

Embrace the Suck – As I was wearing my Go Ruck T-shirt, it was a foreshadowing of planned Suck.  The Suck consisted of 3 rounds of 6 SSH, 6 Merkins and 6 Jump Squats AMRAP for 3 minutes with a one-minute rest in between rounds.

With less than 10 minutes left, we slowsyed to the Great Lawn for a few minutes of Get on Up (lying on the ground and then standing up without using your hands) and the Rotiserrie (Boat to Superman back to Boat all the while with your arms and feet off the ground).

COUNTOFF, NAMERAMA AND CIRCLE OF TRUST

Welcome False Alarm!  The workouts don’t get easier, you just get stronger!  Prayers of thankfulness for positive health reports (Rudy’s sister) and life successes (Rudy’s daughter got accepted to Medical School), prayers of courage for all the people affected by Hurricane Michael and the ongoing recovery efforts,  prayers of strength for families with special needs (Tool and his family) and prayers for peace to know we are doing God’s will even when undeservingly criticized and verbally attacked.  Thank you for the honor and privilege of leading!
