  • More than we started with! – from Charmin

As normal for YHC in an effort to leave no man behind, we started with a pre-beatdown count off with a count of 8. So each of the groups went off, runners went to the outside track, while knotters and Ruckers went backwards on the track.

Noticing that the gates were locked, Ruckers ended up retracing our steps and even saw a mummy along the way. Discussion was had about positive language and how much progress we have made during our time in F3.

Returning to the shovel flag with just enough time to spare, I notice that the area is more filled. Doing countorama and nameorama we ended up with 10. Proving that showing up late is better than not showing up.

That being said, Thursday beatdown might need to move the start time for the later boys.

  • 5 Minutes of PT and 40 Minutes of Hell – from Hawgcycle

Conditions: Clear and 46 degrees. Feels like 42. Humidity 75%. Wind 7 mph from ENE.

Grabbed the Q last night. Knowing that we would be on the Blue Devils’ field reminded me that The Hogs will be hosting Duke Wednesday night at Bud Walton. Which then took me back to the glory days of Razorback Basketball and the 94 National Championship win over Duke under the direction of Nolan Richardson. That led me to thinking about the 40 Minutes of Hell defense he installed in the late 80s and early 90s. Then I remembered that I had seen a workout in the F3Nation Exicon called the Nolan Richardson aka 40 Minutes of Hell. That’s how you plan a workout.

Been a while since I have given the disclaimer. Stumbled through it as normal and did a warm-up lap. Tenderloin, Scantron, and Rou left to do their own thing. The rest of us circled up in the center of the field (not the exact center and not exactly a circle as made clear by the F3 Nola compliance department). Did 15 SSHs and then much to everyone’s delight we went through the PT regimen for my groin issue: Lunges, Suzanne Sommers, Wife Pleasers, and Leg Lifts. A couple of these exercises required full body contact with the frosty field. #crowdpleaser

Then jog to the goal line for 40 minutes of Hell. It’s a lot like Dora. Partner up and complete the rep count as a team. While Pax 1 does the prescribed exercise, Pax 2 backpedals 50 yards, does a Bobby Hurley…scratch that….does a Scotty Thurman, and then runs back to the goal line.

150 burpees, 300 squats, 150 Big Bois, 300 Arm Circles, 150 Merkins, 300 Imperial Walkers.

We didn’t quit get through the entire set. Probably a bad omen for tonight’s game.

I didn’t have a shovel flag this morning, which is a Q fail. Fortunately Belloq came to the rescue. He wore his 1991 American Flag leather jacket and stood patiently in place during the workout. He was there guiding us home at the end. #HIM.

  • Just the two of us… – from Kenna Brah

  • He’s heavy and he’s my F3 Brother – from Triple Shift

I arrived at the AO early to see Tenderloin getting his extra laps in as I scoped out the football field where all the work would get done today. As The Architect rolls in, he comments that I’m early which I proceed to brush off since I’m the Q. Anyway, 5:30 am comes quickly and I give a very short disclaimer and we’re off around the track for the warmup.

    WARMORAMA
After one lap, we circle up for low and slow Squats, Imperial Walkers (this is a crowd pleaser with all the pax stumbling to hold elbow to knee for a 3 count), Parker Peters, Shoulder Taps, Peter Parkers, Floyd Mayweathers, and Merkins.

    PARTNER ONE THANG
Hand Grenada slips in the warm up which gives me an even number of Pax….so partner up with someone who is around your weight. Start on the sideline and Fireman’s carry your partner all the way across to the other sideline. Flapjack the Fireman’s carry to head back. This was pretty difficult given my partner was 20+lbs heavier than me.

    PARTNER TWO THANG
20 REPS of Nordic Hamstring Curls, No Cheat Patti Cake Merkins, Leg Throws, and WW2 Patti Cake Sit-ups

    PARTNER THREE THANG
Partner up on the goal line for some Dora. 75 Genuflects, 100 Reverse Plank Walk Kick, and 125 X Factors. The mode of travel is lunge walk 25 yards and then run back to tag your partner.

    BONUS
Ring of Fire Al Gore/Monkey Humpers and Glute Bridge/ Alabama Wife Pleasers

    COT
Gave thanks for men of F3 and lifted up prayers to help us be the men we were created to be.

  • 2x2xTriple – from Charmin

Started with two Knotts and two rucks. Ended with the same plus triple. Consistency and opportunity.

  • Double Pidgeon, Butterflies and Scantron Running (Oh My!) – from Charmin

At 5:29, jokes were made about YHC’s shirt since it was part of my Halloween Costume, but now it is just a part of my rotation. After the jesting, YCH lead the count off since Triple Shift was already there thus we figured more coming wasn’t as likely.

Starting at 5:30 Knotters walked away backwards, stretchers walked away backwards, and the runners ran away forward sine they apparently still haven’t received the memo.

That being said, YHC mentioned on Monday that his hips were tight, so he directed Stretching with that in mind. We started out with Pool Boy (THE New Orleans Resident) and at some point he was traded for Kennah-Brah from the runners. YHC won’t say who received the better end of that deal, but all the locals know.

At 6:12 with YHC watching my watch, wanting to get back to the proverbial shovel flag, Bolt decided to get creative by creating a stretch. We had just done the Pidgeon Stretch; so he decided to do a Double Pidgeon. It ended up being one of his better creations. Maybe Kennah-Brah was rubbing off on him.

With a little over a minute to go, we make our way across the field and notice all the runners sitting doing a butterfly stretch. Apparently, they forget to run for 45 minutes without Pai Gow, or maybe we should rename Tuesday to Wally Stretch.

That being said, we all start walking towards the flag and notice a tall, lanky, skinner runner coming in hot. It wasn’t until he was on top of us, that we realized that Scantron was coming in HOT! Jokes were made about him not running backwards, but it was good to see him push himself.

COT consisted of Count-Off, with more that we started with, Name-O-Rama, and Announcements and Intentions. YHC then read from Matthew (9:20-22) galvanizing the PAX to discern what we have been suffering with for too long, and to take that to Our Father in Heaven. Even though he knows all, just like an earthly father wants, he desires his children, us, to share it with him.

  • All Souls Day Beatdown – from Charmin

Vagabond was very insistent that the shorted form of his name is pronounced Vag and not Vag. Since he ran with Fracksack, we named them Vag Frack. Bolt tried to steal the Q but when he said he didn’t want to write the Backblast so YHC is getting credit again.

Ended in a COT praying for family members both who are sick and who have passed on since it is All Souls Day today.
