    • I was not planning on doing so many bear crawls.  Don’t want to be too predictable.  But I couldn’t help it.
    • We welcomed FNG Cake Boss.  T-Claps to Rudy for the EH.  Unfortunately Cake Boss was only visiting the area.  He headed back to Jersey after the workout.  He just graduated from American University where he ran track and Cross-Country.  His PR for the 5K is in the 15 minute range.  Rudy is working on making sure he needs to be in New Orleans for work the third Wednesday of every July.

    • My advertisement of a Low Impact Workout was more successful than anticipated.  I was pleasantly surprised to see 8 High Impact Men at my Low Impact workout.  I am sure The Boge, MmmmmBop, Vagabond, and even Hand Grenada were up for something Low Impact after the horrible things Hand Grenada made us do on Monday (Basically Sprint a mile with a 35 pound rock on your shoulder).  The meaner, leaner Gabby has been struggling with an injury to his svelty body and also seems to be in some kind of exclusive coffee tasting club with War Eagle and The Boge, which explains why they all wanted to be here.  Tool and JV came from afar because they love intrigue.
    • After the initial Bear Crawl, Hand Grenada suggested that I with my promise of a low impact workout I was selling him a Bundle of goods that sounded good, but that he in fact did not want or need.
    • I have so missed JV’s labor pains.  They were in fine form during the initial bear crawl
    • There is a lot of perseveration on genitalia in the names of the wall exercises.  I did not name them   I got them off the F3 Nation website.  I can only imagine they were named by a 6th grader in an old man’s body.
    • I’m a fan of these wall exercises.  Props to Ethanol
    • The new non-shovel Shovel Flag that Vagabond is flying should be the new standard in F3 Nola Shovel Flags.
  • Pre-4th Pontiff-icating

Four pax showed for the uptowner asking each other who was Q. At the 5:30 mark Vagabond claimed it and then group moseyed to rock pile and standard warmup with SSH, grass grabbers, windmills, peter parker, arm curls, mountain climbers, etc. Then on to the field of gloom where the pax circled (squared) up for ladder drill starting at 20 reps, declining in increments of 2, to 12 reps, comprised of a variety of maneuvers including burpees, elf on shelf, quarry, bench presses, lunges, ‘merican hammers, curls, box cutters, etc., with mosey’s in between each set. Closed out with 35x ‘dude you’re killing me’ LBCs enthusiastically cadenced by Bogey, plus 90 second plank. Mosey back for count off, ID, COT and prayer.

    TGIF

Thank you Lord for our nation’s way-ahead-of-their-time and extraordinarily courageous founding fathers. And to all the patriots who gave their lives, loved ones, and/or livelihoods so we could have so much over two centuries later.

  • WHO NEEDS SPOTIFY WHEN YOU HAVE BOGEY

With a rare June cool front upon us, ten men (including an FNG) appeared from the gloom for a Rock City-style beat down.  It was a blustery 72 degrees with 30% humidity.  In most areas of the country that’s no big deal, but in south LA, it’s a huge blessing!  With passport in hand, Gabrielle traveled from burrows of uptown to Pontiff for a no running, Uptowner-style beat down, in an effort to nurse an injury.  Unfortunately, he did not get the memo that during the phased resurrection of F3 NOLA, Rock City lives three days per week at Pontiff, and the Uptowner is on suspension.

After the standard disclaimer, the PAX moseyed to the rock pile for a moderate to heavy rock.  We then mosey to what was a nice, open baseball field, only to find it had been fenced off for little league baseball.  YHC made the call to complete a warmup in the sliver of grass available.

    Warmup

All in cadence: SSH x31, IW x20, MC x20, and Arm Circles (10 forward/10 backwards)

    Thang

After the warmup, the PAX slowseyed to the adjacent parking lot for the Thang.  Shortly thereafter, Hawg complained, for the first time in my memory, of foot pain because of the asphalt and pebbles in said parking lot.  Poor leadership on my part for not looking out for my men; however, Hawg took it like a champ! My apologies once again brother!

    Ten Rounds of Tyson

The PAX lined up on one end of the parking lot with their rocks to compete 10 reps of the following exercises, in cadence.  Then run to the other end of the parking lot, leaving the rock, for 10 of the following exercises (this is where Hawg rightfully complained), in cadence:

    Round 1- Overhead presses 2:1

    Round 2-Jump Squats- 1:1

    Round 3- Curls 2:1

    Round 4- Dying Cockroaches 2:1

    Round 5- Squat Presses 1:1

    Round 6- Diamond Merkins 1:1

    Round 7- Chest Presses 2:1

    Round 8- Lunges 2:1

    Round 9- Rows 2:1

    Round 10- 8-count Body Builders

    Tabata

This is where it really got going.  Bogey was drunk with adrenaline and endorphins and began singing love songs from the 80’s.  He even took requests. The Tabata app was set for one minute on and 20 seconds rest for each of the following exercises:

Incline Merkins, American Hammers, Monkey Humpers

    Rest

Flutter Kicks, Freddie Mercury, Elevated Wife Pleasers

Return rock and mosey to the flag.

With a minute to spare, we completed penguins so we could feel like we were doing something, but really weren’t (except the FNG who did the penguins with his legs in the air- Tclaps).

COT: Announcements, intentions, prayer, and named the FNG (Double Fudge- I’m thankful Bogey was not present when I was an FNG). Welcome back everyone, and thank you for the opportunity to lead.

  • The New Foundry

Please read Jadaveon’s backblast from 6/1/20. Follow with Shocker’s backblast from 6/1/20 (posted on 6/3/20). They will move you and motivate you to act.

The New Foundry is temporarily the track at City Park on Roosevelt Mall. Come by and check it out. The water’s great. You’ll love it. Pull-ups will be returning soon (hopefully).

7 Men and Man’s Best Friend arrived this morning in the rising humidity. For those that have never met him, DJ Diver is Gideon’s dog. He is one great dog. Loyal, obedient, always has Gideon’s back. He completed the entire workout and didn’t complain once. The usual disclaimer, recommending physical distancing, and off we go. Mosey to the track.

    Warm-up COP: SSH x 20 IC, IW x 20 IC, Peter Parkers x 20 IC, Windmills x 10 IC, Grass Grabbers x 10 IC, Arm circles 10 forward 10 backward, Mountain Climbers x 20 IC

The Thang: 4 laps around the track. At the 200m mark: 25 merkins, 25 squats, 25 LBC’s. At the 400m mark: 25 Floyd Mayweathers, 25 lunges, 25 LBT’s. In total, 1 mile run with 100 of each exercise (merkins, squats, LBC’s, FM’s, lunges, LBT’s).

Animals on Parade: 30 yard square: bear crawl, forward crab, bear crawl, backward crab for one loop.

    Rear Deltoid circuit, on your face: I’s, Y’s, T’s x 10 IC.

    Mary: Flutter kicks x 20 IC, Hello Dolly x 20 IC, Penguins x 20 IC, American Hammer x 10 IC, Crunchy Frog x 10 IC, J-Lo x 20 IC.

Mosey back to flag for COT. Count off, name-o-rama, intentions, prayer. We reflected on Jadaveon’s plea to act. Living in silence in not good enough. Hopefully we can all have the strength and courage to do our part for equality. Thanks for letting me Q.
