  • WF3Q: all the hits, all the time – from Bolt

This early morning radio show included classics by artists such as Ludacris, Kenny Chesney, Darude, and Survivor, so basically a playlist created by a total nut job.

Guest appearances by WB Pax (Frozone and Short Bus—thank you!) that’s what happens when cocktail-ing with Mahatma…

Warmup IC: SSH, arm circles forward/back, tclaps, seal claps, Moroccan night clubs, self love (all 15x); Toy soldiers, IW, hillbilly squats (15x)

Mosey to bleachers for dry docks up the bleachers, increasing by one rep each row except top one for 10 reps. Tricep dips down the bleachers staring with 10 reps, decreasing by one each row.

Mosey, grab rocks, carry to parking lot and place pairs of rocks at each tree. Pair up for 5 rock station circuits (10 reps each) plus bonus track (Deca-die of pain): Squat , OH press, Curls, Lying press, tricep press. 3 rounds, moving between stations differently each round: mosey, reverse crab walk, bear crawls. Fracsac, ever the masochist, rolled out first deca-die after which we had to perform the move/count it landed on.

Return to rock pike and circle up for Mary, Pax choice/lead in cadence. Return to flag for COT; thanks men for showing up and allowing me to lead!

  • RIP to a Block Named Blayne – from Catfish

Big day at the mountain, starting with 8-counts at the shelter. Moseyed to the southern side of the mountain for 5 mins of EMOM burpees.

Moseyed up to the peak for a nice wall-site leg-a-thon. Wall sat with overhead claps, then jump squats. Back to wall sit for seal claps, then monkey humpers. Back to wall sits and moroccan night clubs.

Moseyed down the south side, then to the block place. Grabbed blocks and paired off for a Dora 1-2-3 with 100 thrusters, 200 merkins, and 300 curls. Didn’t quite finish, because needed some time for the Bitch Block Sacrifice. The Q gave a few words, the Bitch Block was named Blayne (who is a bitch, according to the inscription at the top of the mountain), and then Blayne was crushed to pieces and his remains tossed into Bayou St. John. Pour one out for Blayne, what a bitch. Did a final round of man-makers (in cadence) and replaced the (non-bitch) blocks in the spot.

Moseyed back to the path to the shelter. Indian run back, then did some Sister Mary Catherines to seal the deal and bring in the rain. Under the shelter for CoT.

Mosey to the top of the levee for a disperse run. Form 2 columns, last pax runs to the front of column and yells “disperse” followed by an exercise. The pax run down their side of the levee, complete 3 of the exercises, and run back up top to continue. There were 8 count BB, Burpees, and even some Catalina Wine Mixers!

For the final 2 minutes, we did Quadraphilia AMRAP! Then return to the flag.

    Mosey to the goals for….

Body Builder Basket Ball: Each man takes a free throw. The group does 10 8CBBs after each miss. War Eagle was the only one that made it. We did 20 8CBBs for the misses by Hoke and me. We went double or nothing on the last 4 and ran up a total of 80 8CBBs. Ran out of time so those 80 are for homework.
Back to the flagless gathering spot

COT: Announcements: Frac’s five year manniversary is tomorrow at Okwata. Show up for the celebratory burpees and levee work. Q-School with Professor Catfish is this Saturday at City Park. Encourage everyone, especially recent FNGs to come. City Park Clean-up after the workout. Prayers for Ryan and Rob. Gratitude for our health and F3.

NMM: It seemed especially sticky out there today. Make sure you are hydrating constantly. If you are working out everyday, a gallon of water should probably be your goal. T-claps to War Eagle and Papa for the hard charge on the last two 400s, although there was grumbling that they were sand baggin’ on the first two. Where was Catfish when I needed him? No one was with me on the Bonnie Blairs, apparently not a crowd favorite. Our B-Ball skills need work. 1-7 from the line this morning. T-claps to War Eagle for the make. Found out he was the Middle School MVP in Podunk, AL.
It was humid today and we are looking at hot, humid workouts for the next 4 months. The heat and humidity in New Orleans is what the F3 Lexicon terms a “condition,” a dis-Advantage that cannot be remedied. We cannot change it; we can only embrace it and deal with it. We do not have mountains here. We do not have thin air. But we do have more heat and humidity than any place in the country.

  • Better Late than Never – from Fast Tax

Absolution and the Mad Mad Race

Forgetting that Saturday beat downs started an hour later, YHC showed up bright and early at 5:30. After a short nap in the car, 6:30 rolled around.

9 Pax, including 3 that made the Beer-run the night before, ventured forth to Mothership to see if Fast Tax had yet run out of creative ways to Embrace the Suck. With the shovel flag flapping in the breeze, we welcomed War Eagle from F3-Tallahassee, disclaimer was given, and Pax moseyed to the parking lot for some warm-up.

    Warmups consisted of:
    o Abe Vigodas 13 IC
o Mountain Man Poopers 10 IC
    o Bat Wings 20 IC
o Happy Jacks 4 cycles IC

To the rock pile (aka Fountain) we go…yes, Bogie, there is a rock pile at Mothership.

As we lined up amidst the chatter, YHC thought maybe we needed a little absolution first before we got started…make that 12 Absolutions (an 8 count exercise starting in the plank position: feet forward, feet back, left elbow down, right elbow down, legs out, legs in, left elbow straight, right elbow straight).

To the delight of the Pax, Mini Hairburners were next. Starting in plank position, on a line, in cadence, Pax pushed their rocks forward and pulled them back until YHC thought we scarred the grass up enough.

Rocks down, we raced to Humpty-Dumpty, sat on a wall (People’s Chair for 45 secs), and, of course, ended with a fall (to Merkins) and a run back to the rock pile.

Next bit of fun was the Mad Mad Race.
We formed teams of 3, with each Pax in the team choosing one of the following exercises: soldier crawl, broad jump, or crab walk – no duplicates. From the line, the teams had to traverse 40ish yards, switch positions, and come back. Losing two teams had to do 15 burpees [Bogie and the winning team graciously took five].

Rock-a-bye Baby was the next event.
In a chair position with our rocks at chest height, sequence is IC: rocks overhead, back to chest, arms straight out, arms to the left, back to middle, arms to the right, back to middle, back to chest. 10 reps.

Finally, it was time to Get our Rocks Off.
Holding wife pleaser position with rocks on the ground past their head, sequence is IC:
As YHC called “up”, tricep lift to overhead and back down. 15 reps or until it hurts.

With plenty of time remaining, YHC introduced the Bear Crawl Snake as the final event. Pax line up in a plank, head to toe, three feet apart with last man bear crawling to the front, weaving between each Pax until last man passes the finish line (40 to 50 yards).

To close out the morning’s entertainment, we circled up and did a round of choose your own Mary, in reverse direction so as to not hurt Snooze’s feelings.

At 7:23, as the picnic-goers began to arrive (and stare at us), we headed back to the flag with Catfish lamenting the extra 45 seconds we could have exercised.
To ease Catfish’s angst that we would finish early, we counted off 3 times before name-a-rama, announcements, intentions, and prayers.

Coffeteria at Café Navarre with Hokie, Gabbie, and Fracsac joining.

    Thanks for the fellowship!

  • The Cindy Crawford – from High Rise

On a lovely humid warm morning the brace men of F3 arrived for my first official Q in quite a while as I had been nursing a mild injury. I was limiting my F3 attendance to avoid further injury but I also had planned on this particular beatdown as a way to test out my injury and also push the men of F3 as we are all prone to do. Disclaimer was given and off we went.

Warm up: Mosey around part of the track while performing high knees, butt kicks, and karaoke while on our way to The Foundry.

Tha Thang: As everyone gathered at The Foundry I explained the workout for today. 30 minutes AMRAP of a full body exercise routine: 5 pullups, 10 merkins, 15 squats, 20 LBCs (1 is 1), and 25 calf raises. Thanks to the Exicon for helping me find this routine called the Cindy Crawford.

After 30 minutes we moseyed back down Roosevelt Mall to the flag where we cooled down with some stretching. It was a pleasure as always to lead the men of F3 and I was glad to report that no further aggravation of nagging injury occurred.
