Good Thing – from Steve

There are some things I just can’t wrap my head around. Like how the residents of the trailhead condos have weathered the low whine of Iceberg Charlie’s unceasing, 24/7 Pandora radio station for the last five months without talking a blowtorch to the place. It had me leaning in this morning, though, wondering if they were maybe purposefully trying to drive their neighbors mad, because could that seriously be the “Cool Jerk” song from Home Alone?

Well, no, actually. It turns out what I was actually hearing was Fine Young Cannibal’s “Good Thing” (which isn’t much better, if you ask me). Soon enough, though, the wailing falsetto of Prince overtook the FYC, and I found myself wondering about another Granny phenomena: how Jose can get up so damn early, so consistently. I mean, sure, I know the man doesn’t sleep, but still – I’d prefer to lie in my bed groaning and moaning rather than get up at 3am, drive to Mandeville, and get in 5 miles (ignore that, JV – Turkey Trot is gonna be fine) before a beatdown. But I suppose that is part of the magic of F3 – there’s always someone out there to set the bar higher, someone to look up to.

Speaking of setting the bar high, Cowbell’s first Granny appearance since moving to Covington happened, and the move must have him all turned around because he was 5 mins early. Honestly, I never thought of see him again during the week, so it was kind of a double shock.

And then Chewy rounded out the crew, fully recovered from a pickleball back injury and ready to get to it.

Simple stuff today over on the stage (with the faint chirping of bats overhead to get Cowbell’s heart rate up):

2 sets of 3 exercises, 20x reps each set:
– Merkins, Squats, Hello Dollys (ic)
– Hand-release Merkins, Bobby Hurleys, Gas Pumps (ic)
– T-Merkins, Lunges, Dying Cockroaches (ic)
– Wide Merkins, Star Jumps, Box Cutters (ic)

After each round of two, we’d slalom the columns (missed you Russo!) and hit the stairs for 3x calf raises up each step. Rinse and repeat.

COT with thankfulness for all our blessings, prayers for those in need, and an appeal to help us to make the most of this day and this week. Thank you gents for posting and holding me accountable, I appreciate it more than you know.
