Our Flag Was Still There – from Mayhem

On September 14, 1814, after witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry and then seeing the American flag still flying at daybreak, Francis Scott Key began writing the words that would become “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Fort McHenry had endured roughly 25 hours of bombardment, and the flag Key saw flying that morning carried 15 stars and 15 stripes.

This morning, only three brave PAX were willing to endure the bombardment and show up to see if our flag was still there. No Q, no problem. Flag planted.

YHC stepped into the breach and could not have asked for two better (or two worse) men to stand shoulder to shoulder with in the gloom.

Three men. One flag.

WOR – Everything 15x, in honor of the 15-star, 15-stripe flag flying over Fort McHenry.

Thang 1 — 1814
Pretty simple formula:
18 reps of one coupon exercise
14 reps of another coupon exercise

50-yard run out and back
Repeat with different exercises.

Curls. Presses. Rows. Squats. Chest presses. Thrusters. Whatever YHC’s mind came up with. We did this four or five times.

Thang 2 — Defend the Wall
Off to the gym. Assume the wall-sit position and prepare for another bombardment:
Claps.
Overhead presses.
Alternating legs.
More claps.
More presses.

Bogey then took command and led us through calf raises and Monkey Humpers. Pretty sure the humpers helped us prevail back in 1814.
He called 27 reps. Why 27? No clue.

Thang 3 — Three Men and Some B.O.M.B.S.
With exactly three PAX, DORA required a little battlefield engineering.

B.O.M.B.S.

One PAX works. One PAX runs. One PAX planks.
One works. One runs. One planks. Three become better.

Thang 4 — Back to the Coupons

Return to our rocks/blocks for a simple finishing barrage:
10 things. 10 times each.

Followed by: 3 Mayhem Merkins (SHOCKER, I know)

Coupons returned safely to the rock pile.

50 SSH IC. Why 50? 50 stars today.

Unlike Bogey’s 27, YHC is sure there was a perfectly good reason at the time.

Then some Mary before beginning the journey back.

And when we arrived… Our flag was still there.

COT

Three PAX could have seen the conditions, seen the empty Q sheet and decided Rock City wasn’t happening this morning.
Instead, three men showed up.

Nobody needed to be assigned to lead. Fort McHenry endured the bombardment.

212 years later, three idiots at Rock City did our small part to commemorate it.

No Q. No problem. SYITG.

I call out the architect for being a slacker. If he continues, we shall drop “the”.
