Mother Nature proved to be a fickle foe Saturday, where 14 Pax’s q included posted for the beatdown. We expected rain, but instead had still, hot, humidity. Grundy saved the day with bringing coupons for our workout. Thanks to Grundy for also loading them into his vehicle at the end. He had 10+ concrete blocks in his car ready to go. A consummate pro, that Grundy. There was nothing funny about this beatdown, well, because I’m German and we don’t do funny. And no one was laughing, until JV started riffing jokes midway.
Warmup:
20 side straddle hops
10 windmills
10 hillbillies
10 grass grabbers
10 merkins
Halfway to our LaMarque mosy:
10 merkins
10 air squats
10 derkins
At LaMarque, the Thang:
Pair up and complete as team:
200 merkins
400 air squats
1,000 flutter kicks (1-is-1)
Partner rifle carries cement block down LaMarque and leaves at stop sign and jogs back. His partner retrieves the cement block carrying in the same fashion as the out route.
The beatings continued but the morale did not improve.
Four corners:
1st corner: 5 donkey kicks
2nd corner: 5 donkey kicks
3rd corner: 15 donkey kicks
4th corner: 15 donkey kicks + 5 8-count body builders
Back on LaMarque, we lunged halfway up the block and backwards jogged the rest. Then bear crawled halfway down the block and jogged the rest. Here we met a Bushwacker arriving, and just as swiftly leaving, streaking by at lightning speed stealing a cement block overhead. He showed the grace of a gazelle and strength of a lion, if lions stole cinder blocks.
We mosied back to the flag, where we finished with 20 merkins on our own and a merkin-o-rama with 4 rounds completed. Thanks to Bushwacker for keeping us on task, as we finished with a countoff, intentions and closing prayer. Continued prayers raised to Coachella, BDs sister’s coming baby, HIMs safe travels, and (not mentioned but intended) Piks family. Thanks to all who participated to make a great workout.
