The 70s rock was playing on the speaker, the weather was Sunday-morning appropriate, and the Mothership PAX assembled for another relaxing visit to City Park.
For years, tradition dictated that we “face the Bacon” for WOR. Bacon, of course, being the sculpture that stood watch over countless questionable exercises and even more questionable form. But Bacon has been relocated.
So now we face… the vast empty pond thing.
WOR
Facing the artist formerly known as Bacon, YHC led the usual assortment of warm-up activities. Nothing particularly memorable, which is generally the goal of a warm-up. Properly loosened, we headed toward the fake light pole.
Thang 1
At each light pole, two exercises whose reps always totaled 11:
Bonnie Blairs / Plank Jacks
1 / 10
2 / 9
3 / 8…
On the trip back, alternating light poles called for either:
3 Burpees or PAX Choice
This went reasonably well until the baton reached Triple Shift, who apparently had been waiting his entire Sunday morning for this opportunity.
His selection: 47 Dying Cockroaches.
Followed by the obligatory: 3 Burpees.
Forty-seven. No explanation needed. What a cock(roach) indeed.
Thang 2 — Sunday Morning DORA
Off to the stairs. Partner up.
One PAX works while the other handles the stairs. Together:
100 BBSUs
150 Lunges
200 Squats
Up the stairs. 2 burpees. Down the stairs. Switch.
Thang 3 — Sunday Mornings
We moseyed to the back of the museum for a Mothership classic:
Sunday Mornings. We did three rounds. Or four.
The important thing is that Sunday Mornings were performed on Sunday morning, thereby satisfying all applicable F3 naming requirements.
COT
Back together for Count-o-Rama, Name-o-Rama and intentions.
We got Bonnie Blairs, plank jacks, burpees, stairs, DORA and 47 Dying Cockroaches courtesy of Triple Shift. But that’s the Mothership.
Easy like Sunday morning… SYITG.
