Paying Homage to #41
“The American Dream means giving it your all, trying your hardest, accomplishing something. And then I’d add to that, giving something back. No definition of a successful life can do anything but include serving others.” -George H.W. BushThe air was crisp and chilly on Wednesday at The Foundry, just the way we like it. Perfect conditions for paying homage to the 41st President of the United States on this national day of mourning. Regardless of one’s political beliefs, it was hard to not have respect for the guy and the days he spent as a leader of our country. With that being said, we read a few of #41’s quotes before takeoff. YHC also mentioned that he sifted through some of the Northshore’s backblasts to get some inspiration for the day. With The Crazy Ivan race coming up in January, us Southshore guys need to make sure we can meet or exceed the physical and mental fortitude of our brothers across the lake. Without further ado, the disclaimer was recited and off we moseyed down Roosevelt Mall.Warmup (with a Northshore twist):Good Mornings x10Finkle Kicks x10R x10L (these were ugly, as expected)Arm Circle x10F x10RLateral Lunge x10Scorpion Kicks x10L x10R (a tad lackluster)Forward Lunge w/forearm to ground x5L x5R (good stretching here!)SSH x41 to cap it off for pres #41Foundry:This would be a circuit found in a Northshore backblast called 3-6-9 which consisted of:3 Pullups, 6 Merkins, 9 Squats every minute on the minute (EMOM) for 10 rounds. At first, this seemed a tad too easy but it got the juices flowing a few rounds in. After round 5, we circled up for a tribute to G.H.W.B. with a plank/merkins circle counting up to 41, then holding a low plank for 41 seconds in silence, then another plank/merkin circle up to 41, topped off with Flutter Kicks x41IC and LBC x41IC. Finished with rounds 6-10 with some good mumble chatter to boot. Looking back, YHC feels certain the Southshore PAX can handle that circuit with 4-8-12 or even 5-10-15…we’ll see.The Track:After a mosey for the foundry to the practice track, we circled up for some burpees in honor of George H. W. Bush, stressing good form that would make him proud. We knocked them out in chunks, x10 x10 x10 x11 for 41 total. YHC was hoping for a lap around the track but it was time to mosey back to base.COT:The usual announcements of upcoming events and Christmas party/workout next week. A few more words about #41 before ending with a prayer.Good way to start the day. Thanks for the opportunity to lead.Tool -
12-0 at #Rockne City
What a beautiful, cool, crisp day for football. Or at least to celebrate football. So 18 men gathered in the gloom at Pontiff Park in a celebration of Notre Dame’s undefeated season, Rockne style. OK, so maybe 1 man was celebrating Notre Dame’s perfect season, but that man was the Q (YHC) so he forced his opinions on everybody else. I know Rudy was with me in spirit. A quick disclaimer and off we go.
The Warm-Up:

And if we win 2 more games, we will win our 12th national championship. The Pax could hardly contain their excitement. Da Parrish and Bogey marveled at Notre Dame’s gauntlet of a schedule. Rev Sox and Hand-Granada were speechless. War Eagle knew it was coming, and did not show because he could not bear it. Hawg removed his shoes in homage. Mahatma was so inspired, he almost removed his Clemson orange t-shirt (but he didn’t…)12 reps of each rock exercise to celebrate the 12 victories this year. 3 rounds to celebrate the #3 ranking.

YHC and Da Parish completed Okwata, then gathered at Morning Call in City Park for Coffeteria, as we were scheduled to run the 5 mile Turkey Day Race at 0830. This is a truly manly accomplishment, and a feat only the likes of YHC and Da Parish could serve up. We were joined by the crew from the Dome Patrol, fresh off their victory with Stiffler’s Mom. Thanks for the great F2 Hawgcycle and Swampcock!
YHC and Da Parish truly sealed the deal with an amazing 5 mile run at Tad Gormley, where we were joined by a number of other F3 brothers!
Thanks for posting with me today, and for allowing me to be a part of F3. I am thankful for many things, and my F3 brothers are very high up on that list!

Krazy Ivan Training at the Stomp
It has been said that the only reason the World wins the GN is due to the Northshore presence. Is that true? Well then how would that explain a World victory at the 2019 Krazy Ivan?! A GroupMe was sent to the Stomp runners to show up sleeveless and handsome. Thank you all for getting that at least half right.
The route would be similar to that of the Turkey Day Race. North on Marconi, South at the roundabout, East to NOMA and up Lelong dr, back down through Roosevelt mall and sweep the 6s. Seal the deal with 10 burpees, 25 LBCs, 10 R Alabama Prom Dates, 9 L APDs.
Counterama, Namerama, T-Claps to the Sky Q for the gift of the Day.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead, SYITG

The Stomp to Scout Island and Beyond
Allow me, YHC, to introduce myself. I am known as Fracsac among my F3 Brethren, my real name is not important. One thing you should know about me is that I am the fastest slow guy in F3 Nation. Sure, this may seem subjective, but I have proof. It all started when 8 Pax gathered in the gloom to see what YHC had in store for the 610 Stomp. YHC determined we would run a different route, passing Scout Island, where the scariest Halloween monsters are said to be housed. The plan was to sweep the six along the way, running somewhat as a group. Within the first half mile, our pack was split up in 3 parts. Mahatma, El Guapo, and Rudy took off ahead, YHC settled back a ways from them, with the other Pax making up the six. That may not be completely accurate, as Hawgcycle was really the lone pax in the six, but we would still be on the route if we were waiting for him. I remember the days when I pushed myself to keep up with Hawgcycle, as he was running ahead looking well groomed with a top of the line pair of running shoes. He glided along like the wind, a true force to be reckoned with. Now he shows up with a mullet and flip flops. I doubt I look any better than him, but I do wear shoes. But I digress.
The three fast Pax would occasionally sweep the six, as YHC had instructed. Good for them, but they would pass me up and ignore me like I was a middle child. Lucky for me, I was a middle child, so I shrugged that off easily. We passed Scout Island without incident, except for having to smell the unpleasant fragrance coming from the portable toilets. As I ran up the Wisner Bridge, I could see the fast pax coming back toward me, on their way to rally the others. In a fashionable yet blatantly superior act, they ran up the Wisner Bridge twice, showing the rest of the Pax how it is done. Where was Hawgcycle you ask? We didn’t know either. We ran past the festival grounds, still emanating odors from Voodoo fest, which was comprised of what can only be described as the stench of stale beer and vomit. But on our way to the entrance to NOMA, we came across the awesome smell of bacon! What a pleasant treat in comparison to the previous experiences! Into City Park we continued, the three fast pax sweeping past me and collecting the six. We headed into the track for one quick lap, then gathered around the flag. Just enough time left to seal the deal with 10 burpees. Countoff……wait says Da Parish. We have one minute remaining. Well, then 5 more burpees. Now the deal is sealed! Well Done!Count Off, Name-O-Rama, Intentions, and closed with a prayer to the Sky Q.

Map My Run showed 4.43 miles.
The three fast pax were the only three Respect Pax we had this morning. That is impressive! I’m going to strive to be an even faster slow guy.
Hawgcycle brought me my water bottle from the last Crazy Ivan on the Northshore. You’re probably thinking that was nice of him. The Crazy Ivan was in January. Speaking of which, we need to have a better showing at the Crazy Ivan in January to show our Northshore Brothers some support. Many of them always find a way to respond to our CSAUP events, so time to return the favor. Dates you ask? Keep an eye out for an announcement in the near future. Thanks for posting with me today, and for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing group!

Stiffler’s Mom Has Got It Going On
Stiffler’s mom was wet that day…real wet. Plenty of men would’ve been scared away, but not two brave soles (pun intended). Mariah and YHC waited in their respective vehicles until the safety in numbers could be established. The PAX gave the other regulars the benefit of the doubt, but at 5:32 the beat down could wait no longer. Mariah being a 9min/mi man, and YHC being a 10+min/mi man decided to set a pushing 9:50 pace down St. Charles Ave. to Napoleon and back down Magazine. The 4.65 mi run provided for plenty of great mumble chatter and 2nd F. The rain was hardly an issue when amongst comrades.
Thanks are given to the Sky Q that no one was knifed, and writing the BB has been YHC’s pleasure.

A Stroll Down Route 66
One of my favorite Saturday beat downs was a Route 66 down Esplanade Avenue lead by #Side FX a couple years ago. I am not a very original man, and I like to borrow work-outs from previous ones that I have enjoyed. And it’s fun to get off campus. So I revived the annual #Side FX Route 66. 23 strong men arrived at 0630 on this beautiful Saturday morning. The usual disclaimer and off we go.
We moseyed to the green lawn on the side of NOMA for the warm-up COP.
SSH x 24 IC, representing Notre Dame’s opponent for the day, the #24 Virginia Tech Hokies

I think that makes 95 Merkins total.Circle up for some Mary.

Hello Dolly x 20 ICMosey off campus out of City Park to continue the Route 66 down Esplanade Avenue. It’s always nice to take in the sights on Esplanade Avenue as the sun is coming up. It even reminded some of the Grow Ruck. We stop at each lamp post for 10 squats. I don’t know how many lamp posts we stopped at. It felt like a lot. Continue on to Alcee Fortier Park, aka Dog Poo Park by Café Degas.

Leave No Man Behind
Pre-Thang
The night before, YHC attended Martini Madness and had to behave himself by not indulging in every kind of vodka available. Thank goodness that event ended at 11 p.m. YHC woke up at 5:00 a.m. because he was excited to Q his first Mothership. YHC got to the AO early around 6:10 am. and saw FracSac jump roping for the Sept. ISI Challenge. He was at it!!! YHC greeted him with a good morning and went off to set up some cones at the Great Lawn. At 6:30, YHC gave his standard disclaimer and off the 15 PAX.
Warm-ups
Moseyed to the Great Lawn and did the following in cadence:
SSH x 20
Forward Arm Circles x 10
Backward Arm Circles x 10
Hill Billies x 20
MC x 20
After the warm-ups, Tool and Da Parish went off to the Grandmothership with a low impact workout while the remaining PAX partnered up for the first exercise at the Great Lawn. For the rest of the day, the PAX would have the same partner. Some mumble chatter from Rudy about having Cowbell as a workout partner.
Great Lawn
Lined up at the first cone – 5 LBCs. Get to the second cone – 10 LBCs…. increment of 5 to the sixth cone with 30 LBCs. But how did the PAX get from one cone to the next???… wheelbarrow your partner and flap jack at each cone so each PAX got an equal opportunity to get his hands dirty. Total LBCs = 105. Then moseyed to the Fountain in front of NOMA with your partner. Planked and waited until the last team arrived.
The Fountain
Paired up the teams to form a team of 4. For the remainder of the day, these were the teams:
Team A – Rudy, Cowbell, El Guapo, Two Yutes
Team B – Medulla, Moist, Heisenberg, FraSac
Team C – Outbreak, Thighs, Calliope, Out for Justice
As a team – performed 200 box jumps. But only one PAX can do the rep count while the remaining 3 PAX were doing the shoulder taps with your fists (called the King Kong). A lot of mumble chatter after this as you can see later in this back blast. After 200 box jumps, the teams had to perform 300 dips. Once again, only one PAX can do the dips while the remaining 3 were doing air squats (YHC heard few PAX saying this must be Kong Squats). Once 300 dips were completed as a team, Indian ran (YHC heard a PAX calling this a Kong Run by hitting your chest with your fists while Indian Running) to the main entrance of the park. Planked and waited until the last team arrived. YHC believes there will be a list of new lexicons coming soon with a Kong theme.
Main Entrance
As a team – performed 300 merkins. Only one PAX can do the rep count while the remaining 3 PAX were standing in Al Gore position. Once completed, the team BLIMPS through the median. Starting at the first light post with 5 burpees. Ran to the second light post with 10 lunges each leg. Ran to the 3rd post with 15 imperial walkers each leg…. to the fourth post – 20 merkins…..to fifth post – 25 plank jacks…. to the sixth light post with 30 squats. Then Indian ran to Baby Foundry. Planked and waited until the last team arrived.
Baby Foundry
Pull-ups exercises – one pax would do 10 pull-ups, one pax was the spotter, 2 remaining pax were performing patty cakes. Rotate until each PAX within the group finished with 10 pull-ups. Then rinse and repeat. So each PAX ended with 20 pull-ups. Combined all teams and Indian Ran back to the Great Lawn to meet back up with Tool and Da Parish to finish the day with a round of Mary.
Round of Mary
Flutter Kicks x 20 IC
Dying Cockroach x 20 IC
Hello Dollys x 20 IC
American Hammers x 20 IC
The PAX moseyed back to the flag for the COT at 7:30 a.m.
