  • Wolfpack Mountain 2024-05-30 – from Catfish

    Wolfpack 2024-03-28
Lovely conditions with a slight chill to the air. Started it up by moseying over to the Tulane lawn for a warmup:
    • Abe Vigodas x 10 (in cadence)
    • Grass Grabbers x 10 (in cadence)
    • Side Straddle Hop x 20 (in cadence)
    • 10 burpees OYO
    • Peter Parkers x 20 (in cadence)
    • Plank Walk x 20 (in cadence)
    • 8-counts x 10 (in cadence)

Moseyed to the base of the mountain. Lined up for an Indian run to the top. At the top did a Dora 1-2-3 with 100 burpees, 200 jump squats, and 300 flutter kicks (2 is 1). Non-exercising partner ran all the way down the nearby stairwell, across to the other stairwell, and all the way back up. Got in some LBTs, penguins, and Big Boys (all x20 in cadence) while waiting for the six.

Moseyed back down the stairs to the flag zone. Got in another set of 10 8-counts (in cadence), then went for CoT. Coffee at PJ’s as usual afterwards.

  • March of the Penguins – from Willie

As the month of March approaches its end, so does the March of the Penguins CASUP (1000 Penguins per day in the month of March). Special shout out to @Sandbar, and @Sogo for accompanying me on this journey. Also, a big thank you to the Qs this month who added extra penguins to their workout. That does not included @Douille who did 3 total penguins at Misty Mountain last Saturday.

Yours truly rolled into the workout right at 5:30AM, dressed in a Penguin onesie, with Welcome to the Jungle blaring on the bluetooth speaker. My standard music rules applied. The PAX can skip a song with a 10 burpee penalty for the entire group. After the standard disclaimer, we moseyed to the field for a warm up, all in cadence.

    SSH x 20
    Imperial Walkers x 20
Mountain Climbers, Peter Parkers, Parker Peters x 15 each
Self Love OYO for 1 minute
    Arm Circles Reverse/Forward x 10
    Hillbillies x 20

The PAX then made it’s way to the statue in front of the zoo, and partnered up for a not so traditional DORA. The only exercise was 600 Penguins 2/1. Partner 1 ran the small loop while Partner 2 banged out penguins. We had 2 skips during the DORA, resulting in 20 burpees. The skipped songs were “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi and “Spoon Full of Sugar” from the Mary Poppins sound track.

The next transition was a run to the bandstand where the PAX circled up on stage for the Name That Tune challenge. The songs on this playlist are all songs that we know and love, but they are sung in a Lounge Singer style by the one and only Richard Cheese. The PAX did 30 Penguins 2-1 while the song played, then the PAX to the left had to guess either the song title OR the original artist. Get it right and we continue with penguins, a wrong answer gets the PAX 20 merkins. Some of the songs played were hits like, “Baby Got Back”, “Gin and Juice,” “Brass Monkey,” and “Been Caught Stealing” just to name a few. The PAX did pretty well as we only had 2 wrong answers resulting in 40 merkins. With 6:15AM approaching we made our way back to the flag for the standard COT.

It is a pleasure to lead these men in a workout, and I appreciate the PAX indulging me in my crazy ideas.

    4 Rucked
    A few others ran
    A few others KNOT’d

  • Mutual Admiration Society – from Quincy

Uptown tundra at 50° could not keep 10 men away from the delights of the Gloom! We started our warmup completing Side Straddle Hops, Peter Parkers, Windmills, Grass Grabbers. We jogged to the statue of John James Audubon to impress him with arm circles at the insistence of Seeman, both counting up and counting down to show the famous bird man what the birdcage brothers can do. We continued Mathlete style doing Crazy 8’s in the parking lot with 10 Burpees, 20 Merkins, 40 Bonnie Blairs; counting down by subtracting 1 Burpee, 2 Merkins and 4 BB’s a round, Angie’s List said it looked good on paper, and I was proud to lead you nowhere while running in circles. Kong pointed out we were not going to finish my master plan on time as we did a few LBC’s, Russian Twists between sets, we ended with the 5/10/20 set.
Appreciate all of you for posting!
Double appreciate all those who were able to give blood yesterday: 54 donations at Children’s, the goal was 40!

  • 2024 ReNew Q vs Q – from Mahatma

The back story….a long long time ago of 2020 in a land far far away of Khenna there was a forgotten AO called “The View”! To bring excitement during the time of dome and gloom Mambi came up with the idea of pitting one Q vs another in a face off of who could bring the “best” beatdown with 2 Qs going head to head then have the Pax vote a champion. Unfortunately as life goes AOs thinned and “The View” became extinct! (It’s no longer on the AO list) Fast forward to the end of 2023, Disclaimer was moving into the neighborhood where the lore of this AO and the Q vs Q was stuck in his mind hearing about the tails of his brother pax bringing a competitive beatdown just a few minutes from his backyard. So the call to the last champ and challenger was made and the ReNew Q vs Q was scheduled.

The date January 19th 5:30AM it was a wet cool 50deg with 18 pax meeting up at the flags planted in Erlanger park. YHC gave the back story and guidelines of the Q Vs Q beatdown. After a quick disclaimer (not actually) a quick warmup:
    SSH
    Grassgrabers
    HillBillies
    Mnt Man Poopers
    Merkins

Each Q gets 2 alternating 8 minute rounds with 2 minute transition.
    Rnd 1
    Champ King Kong
Base of the levee for 4 rounds of various in cadence exercise then mosey to top of levee for in cadence ssh.

    Rnd 2
    Tripleshift
    Partner Up for crazy 8
One pax did exercise while partner carried block overhead out and back then flip flop

    Rnd 3
    King Kong
HITT – pax perform exercise for 1 minute followed by active recovery for 1 minute

    Rnd 4
    Tripleshift
Some sort of bearburpeebroadjump combo goal was to reach 40. You had to be there to understand

    Time Up
    COT
After brief announcements the 2 Qs were brought into the circle – with a convincing unanimous vote…..oh wait Rudy decided to decent and change his vote to KK. Tripleshift was crowned the new champ. After our prayer of thanksgiving the 2 competing Qs met in the circle for the belt exchange and call out by Tripleshift of his desired challenger…..from the LVCC gang the notorious HighRise was challenged!

A new twist to Q vs Q decided at coffeeteria – the champ gets to designate the AO of the beatdown brawl, which could be ANY so be on the lookout. If HighRise accepts the challenge Tripleshift has hinted it may be at MistyMountain.
