  • Casino Royale – from Fletch

No need to gamble with your fitness, just show up and do the work. Warmup of grass grabbers, windmills, imperial walkers, arm circles, forward and backwards, seal claps and overhead claps. The workout of choice was a simple deck of cards where diamonds =squats, hearts=merkins, spades = ssh, clubs= sit-ups. We worked our way through the deck once with a mosey around the parking deck with each joker pulled. We then moseyed around again to finish the deck and started over with each PAX pulling a card at random. Cowbell had luck with him and pulled a joker so we did burpees. We worked our way half through the deck till time was up. Nameorama and Water Pick prayed us out. Everyone walks away a winner after an F3 Beatdown. Thanks gentlemen

  • Concrete Mount Suribachi – from Hogs Breath

YHC felt some coupon inspiration could take place at the A1C!

    Warm up
    SSH IC x 20
    Seal jacks x12
    Arm circles x10

Mosey to our coupons, much to the surprise of waterpick, cowbell, and Russo. “What we had coupons here!?!?!?” (For reference they are in a parking lot at the intersection of 26th ave and N Jefferson Ave, behind some ornamental bushes)

After carrying our coupons to the the corner of the parking garage, we lunge walked to the entrance, of said parking garage. At the entrance all pax beautifully performed 25 overhead presses. Then backwards walk, with coupons, up the parking ramp. At the first landing, we performed 25 derkins (seeing the trend yet?) on to an overhead carry through the garage, followed by 25 side step overs. Then YHC could not remember the name of the exercise he planned out….so cowbell jumped in with a “murder bunny” suggestion up the parking garage incline! For the record the actual exercise I was looking for is a “bear and block” however, both cause pain so this completes the goal!! At the top we completed 25 curls. And a lunge walk back to the shovel flag, thus we completed a full compliment of Mount Suribachi. BUT what goes up, must come down, So we shoulder walked the coupons down to the base floor entrance. There we performed 10 tricep extensions and began farmers walks back to return the coupons.

One more time we mosey to the shovel flag and began some Mary, of Captain Thor! One big boy sit up, then four American hammers; then increasing by two and eight respectively. We only made it through six rounds before we had to call time!
Cowbell prayed us out with thoughts for a safe weekend and allowing us to come together.

  • PARKOUR!!!! – from Hogs Breath

Through the thick swamp air, three brave souls began a journey over, under and through obstacles at Grandma’s house.

As YHC planted the shovel flag into the soggy ground, a lone Russo joined in. So two pax began a

    WARM UP

    10 IC toy soldiers
    10 IC mountain man poopers
    10 IC Cornhoulies

Followed by imperial walkers and butt kicks to “Baba O’Riley” by The Who. As we approached the last 45 seconds Nacho Libre pulled up!

    The Thang:

Taking inspirations from Michael Scott [the office] we “Parkour!!!” throughout every obstacle YHC found, we would climb, jump, or duck under. Things such as bear crawl across the bench’s, jump over bike stands. Slalom throughout the support posts, then bear crawl through the support posts. A few wounded animals along the parking lot curb. Up the stairs, but under the stair railings!

After we had enough Parkour we circled back up to perform a burpee-waterfall to “Thunderstruck” by AC / DC each time a “thunder” was called in the song one pax would perform burpee’s while others would SSH. This was performed in a roar sting fashion when each “Thunder” was sung. Nacho and YHC got stuck with several long “Thunder” breaks….

The final Mary was to “Flower” by Moby. To those unfamiliar the song has the phrase “bring Sally up” and “bring Sally down” we performed this to sit ups [originally planned with Merkins but at this point our arms were smoked!] moving up or down in accordance to the lyrics of the song.

We closed out with prayers to be good leaders throughout our communities. Thank you for giving me the chance to lead throughout these early gloomy and humid mornings.

  • Broken promises – from Shooter

With hopes of a surprise post from the reinvigorated Nacho Libre YHC quickly realized the morning would be absent with his Broken promise.. However, I will give credit as he has posted twice this week in hopes of claiming those Saints tickets from Chewy.. Q would soon rely on the regulars instead as I pulled into the parking lot to the sight of no one at first. Then Hogsbreath rolls up while Waterpik comes moseying in through the darkness and then a surprise post from Cowbell with his boat in tow… Dedication right there 👊🏼 much respect Cowbell as you could have easily skipped but your ever determination to always Accelerate is most impressive..

PAX gets through some warmup all 10IC Grass grabbers, Windmills, Scorpion kicks, Superman’s, Slow Squats and SSH..
Phat Johnson joins the PAX and we start our Mosey through Mandeville. Waterpik graciously modified his pace to hang with YHC as Phat Johnson and Cowbell bolted out. Hogs Breath rucked through the streets as we all returned. Finished up with Core 20IC LBCs, alternating Left and Right cross crunch, Flutter kicks, Hello Dollies, Rosalitas and Mountain climbers..

Thanks for posting and following my lead..

T👏🏼 to Hogs Breath for closing us in 🙏🏼 and sharing about his post in OH over the past week and how the PAX demonstrated sheild locking at the AO. Sounds like a great way to allow us men to share what can be challenging us for the week or month and relying on other men within the PAX for support.. I know I am grateful for the wonderful friendships and brethren I have met through the years with F3.. So I want to encourage the men reading this backblast to reach out to those men around their circles and motivate them to get out and post.. As Yankee likes to say in the emails the best way to headlock is to signup and Q then it allows them to feel comfortable knowing you will be out there..

    Till the next Gloom 👊🏼👍🏼✌🏼!!!

  • – from Bushwacker

As I stood in the gloom and watched the the headlights roll in, I thought about all of the “regulars” I was going to see at Granny’s. And when the PAX circled up, including Chewy doing his best Cowbell impression, I didn’t see ANY regulars…all I saw were a group of HIMs ready to start their day off with an offering to the gods of sweat and pain! And thoug YHC brought every excuse as to why this beatdown would be “a little less intense”, the PAX brought their A game all the same.

    See yall at the H8!……?

  • What’s Tabata with you? – from Russo

While I realize YHC is not the first to use that phrase when describing a pseudo-HIIT beatdown, it was certainly appropriate as a superstar pax of 6 knocked on Granny’s door this morning under pleasant (albeit warming) temps.

Warmup (all IC, 12x to 20x)
    Seal jacks
    Grass grabbers
    Self love
    Toe touches
    Imperial walkers
    Cherry pickers

    Thang
Trying to mix it up some, YHC deliberately stayed away from all things “Tunnel” and “Pilot House”, opting instead to rock around the block and give old Mandeville (well, at least every car that just HAD to turn onto Monroe) a Tabata show, 45 seconds at a time.

Topics of chatter somehow included Humboldt State University, the date of April 20th, and Spongebob Squarepants.

Standard mosey for one or two blocks in between the following, not necessarily in order or to scale:
    – 8 count bodybuilders
    – squat jumps
    – rower sit-ups
    – plankjacks
    – lunges
    – leg raises
    – shoulder tap merkins
    – suicide squats
    – hello dollys
    – T merkins
    – gas pumps
    – Peter Parker’s
    – LBCs
    – Calf raises
    – butt kicks
    – freak nastys
    – step ups (nicely in sync from Chewie, Zoo, and YHC)

A mosey back home and a quick slalom through Granny’s columns closed us out.

COT, Name o Rama, announcements, and a prayer from Hammer wrapped it up.

Thank you to each of the gents posting this morning. It was another fantastic crew.

Looking forward to Thursday’s F3/FIA mixer (6:30 Covington trailhead) and the Zoorich Classic on Saturday. SYITG

  • Block Building – from Shooter

With access to so many opportunities for a beatdown at the Marsh, YHC decided to use our F3 stamped cylinder blocks. After all one never knows if they will still be out there from week to week.. Seems as though the artwork has paid off thanks to Akbar and Grover. I believe the City has realized confiscating our blocks only leads to another batch arriving at some point. After all their time is probably better spent picking up the enormous amount of trash left behind by a weekends worth of revelry which never disappoints the PAX on a Monday for a little pre and post trash pickup…

    Warmup
10IC Windmills 20IC SSH 10IC Air presses 20IC Arm circles and 10IC Torso twists

    Thang
Pulling out the play book of Hogsbreath from a few months back with blocks Q decided to replicate a version of his own Block Building.
After retrieving our coupons we headed down Lamarque towards the lake stopping at every corner down and back..

Exercises simply ascended and then descended upon return.

    B1 10 Kettle swings
    B2 10 Kettle swings 20 Overhead press
B3 10 Kettle swings 20 Overhead press 10 Jacks web
B4 10 Kettle swings 20 Overhead press 10 Jacks Web 20 Chest press
B5 10 Kettle swings 20 Overhead press 10 Jacks Web 20 Chest press 10 Squats

Appreciate Pee Shooter making an appearance at the Marsh and the always reliable Waterpik for posting..

Hogs breath has been a regular poster and took us out in prayer…

    Till the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!

  • Moonshine? – from Russo

Pax of 7 had a party at Granny’s this morning. After HogsBreath noted a lack of prior week participation, the call went out and was answered this week!

Party started promptly at 5:15 (there were no fashionably late arrivals) with:

Warmup (All IC, between 10x and 20x)
    – sealjacks
    – self love
    – goofballs
    – toe touches
    – cherry pickers
    – imperial walkers

    Pre-thang
YHC loves granny’s house because of the layout. Stairs and the pilot house are one of my favorite places to do something a little different on occasion, so we started with something I’m going to call the Moonshine: 3 steps up, 2 down, until we reach the pilot house. 20 monkey humpers at the top (with no sunrise yet, that’s the “moonshine” part), then back down 3 steps, up 2.

Round 2 replaced the 3 up, 2 down model with 3 calf raises on each step (because Math in the gloom is hard).

Pax moseyed to the tunnel for Thang:
A modified Dora 1-2-3 where Dora learned how to divide by 2:

    – 50 shoulder tap merkins
    – 100 squats
    – 150 crunchy frogs
    – Partner moseyed down to center tunnel and back peddled back up

Round 2 (modified until the clock ran out)
    – plankjacks
    – lunges
    – Hello Dollys
    – karaoke in between

A mosey back through the woods to our start wrapped us up.

    COT, name o rama, announcements:
    – F3/FIA get together next Thursday 6:30PM led by Bushwhacker
    – Potentially lunch on Friday
    – Zoorich Classic on Saturday

    Prayer closed us out.

A thank you to the truly All Star team that posted this morning and one in particular to HogsBreath for the extra push. Until we do it again, SYITG.

  • To, Too, and Two – from Hogs Breath

Showing up to Grandma’s house, no other cars dotting the lot, at 0512. I got out, looked around and began to hum to Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself”.
So I began what any good pax would do, and began to lead myself!
As I began my 100 ssh, a single light of hope appeared, Cowbell arrived sharply at 0518!!!

So the two yutes began a rousing workout of

    WU /
    20 ic imperial walkers
    20 good mornings

    Run to tunnel
Set of 11’s with merkins and squats on the tunnel incline

    50 step ups
    25 freak nasty
    Switch legs 50 freak nasty

Jacob ladder, where one pax ran to the tower performed a burpee, then ran back for some Mary, and the second pax woood then run. The burpees continued in an escalating fashion, until cowbell sun Daley exclaimed “wait you were increasing the burpees the whole time?!?!?”
    The Mary performed at the bottom of the tower was;
    Lbc
    Flutter kicks
    Big boy
    Gas pumps
    Oblieks

Cot (which lets be honest with two, is a big circle of trust!)

  • Bear Poker – from Hogs Breath

    Somehow we welcomed back Shortcake!

Feeling way too muggy for March, four met for today’s beat down.

    Warm-up
    20ish IC SSH
10 each direction IC arm circles
    10 imperial walkers
    10 mountain man poopers

    The thang

Well after last weeks hit, we had to bear crawl again! Up the stairs, around the tower, and back down!
After, we all played a round of Deck O’ Death poker. YHC won with a pair of 7’s and my prize was to lead the round of exercises; some arm circles, plank jacks, derkins and some other stuff.
Then we went back to the midway for a round of bear inch. Or an Indian run with bear crawls and planks!
Then back for another round of Deck O’ Death poker. And this time shortcake won the round. We did some dips and other stuff….
complaining about a lack of leg exercises, YHC decided to throw in a length of walking lunges and a mosey to the tunnel. This provided a reprieve and good mumblechatter about the crazy state of the world. However, YHC had us complete a bear crawl up the tunnel incline!
We had just enough to time to mosey back to the shovelflag for another round of poker! Again some merkins, lbc, and stuff but we ended with a 25 second plank rounding us out to 0600!
Ended with count-o-Rama, name-o-Rama, announcements, and COT!

A great start to the day with some great men!
