  • Something for Everyone – from Boo-Boo

13 men came to the Wally Sprint for varying flavors of difficulty, but all with the purpose of becoming stronger than when they arrived.

Ruckers- Logo, Charmin, Hokie, Kenner Brah, Macgyver, Boo-Boo, Klinger, and Baloo completed 2.37 miles followed by nine minutes of Mary incorporating weighted rucks.

    Tenderloin did his thing.

Sprinters- Hawg, Frac, Pai Gow, Mambi mindlessly sprinted around the track and showed up to COT dizzy.

COT, prayers, OUT! Coffeteria followed with partial attendance.

  • Stations and Decking – from Fracsac

11 Pax at El Diablo to get stronger, witness the bat and the wood, and to partake in some COT Coffeteria.

Warmup with the regular warmup stuff, although many strange looks when moving on without any MNC.

First up, Stations. There were coupons and a sandbag, a jump rope and a battle rope. There were also two cones. The timer was bear crawl 25 yards, then have LBC station throw the football. A clean catch and we rotate, a dropped pass and we all do 5 burpees. We did a few…..

After one full rotation, off to giant deck of death!
Diamonds – 8 count body builders
    Hearts – Big Boi sit-ups
    Spades – Squats
    Clubs – Flutter Kicks

After a bunch of cards, left enough time for one more round of stations.

    COT

    Coffeteria at the flag.

YHC woke up early to grind some PJs Anniversary Blend beans and brew about 60 ounces of awesome coffee with the French Press! Great opportunity to mingle post beat down!

Mahatma was key in fixing our battle rope bench.

Passed the bat around during name-o-rama. The bat is going limp…..?

  • 4 Men & a RUNNER – from Hokie

With Saturday’s 55k looming just a few days out, runners were resting except Pai Gow

Meanwhile YHC, Belloq, Beignet & MacGyver did the Wally Mosey through the neighborhood getting Beignet some mileage under weight before his departure for Marquette next Monday.

  • The Rudy Special – from Rudy

Alas, YHC forgot to check the schedule – until 515 as I got into the car to head to RockCity. “Who’s the Q?” Oh, I was. Shoot. No time to build out something for the day (Dora 321 for 3/21? Celebration of ND bball victory over Bama – at least we beat the SEC in something!) Instead, I guess it’ll be the usual…

Heading over the tracks, YHC was a wee bit surprised to look up to his right and see the bright BRIGHT lights of the train that looked to be ALMOST RIGHT ON TOP OF HIM. Only then did the red lights start flashing and the arms descending. I guess the train was a bit further away than it appeared, but not by much. Safely on the right side of the tracks, YHC joined Bogey at the flag.

    Tick tick.

YHC and Bogey. Bogey and YHC.

    Tick tick.

5:30: a PAX of 2 moseyed off to the rock pile while the train continued to rumble along the tracks. Circle up! (Line up? 2 Dots up?) Anyway, lets start warming up. Train finishes rumbling by and 3 more PAX trickle in. Welcome HG, Marlin, Pai Gow. Now that we have a full crew, we can get started.

Grab a rock and mosey to the field.

Hand Grenada senses Rudy’s lack of originality and calls out the exercise long before we get settled. Yup, 11s. Burpees on one side, BBSU on the other. 10 Overheads with the rock when we pass it one way, 10 curls when we pass it the other way. Go. Bogey proceeds to smoke the field, and is rewarded with the opportunity to add 11 burpees to his total.

Head over to the Gym Stairways for a bit of mountaineering. Bear Crawl, Crab Walk, Crawl Bear, Walk Crab – up the stairs, 5 merkins, mosey back down. Rinse and repeat. Some PAX grumbling about “waaaah.. Too much shoulders”.

Return the rocks, circle up for 2 rounds of mary including sloooow wife pleasers. Then back to the flag, where we were joined by Triple Shift and Tenderloin – who continues to push forward and shed those pounds!!!

COT. Happy almost bday Marlin, turning RespectRespect on Tuesday! Finish up with our prayer (thanksgiving, generosity, and endurance).

  • Beware The Ides of March – from Hawgcycle

Some people argue that the Wally Sprint is the best workout in F3 NOLA. YHC was hoping not to tarnish it’s reputation by taking the Q this morning. As I headed out the door I was greeted with a lightning strike and thuderclap. What?!? Is it supposed to rain? Quick check of the phone and yep. I put my bike back up, grabbed the truck keys and modified my plan on the 2 minute drive to Pontiff.

Was pleasantly surprised to see 4 hearty souls waiting for me in the gloom. We proceeded to do a little CCC training
    – 1 mile warm-up jog around the park
    – 4 accelerations
    – 0.75 miles at 10K race pace.
    – .25 mile recovery jog
    – 0.75 miles at 5k race pace.
    – 0.25 recovery jog
    – 0.75 miles at 1 mile race pace.
    – 0.25 recovery jog
    – Cool down jog to close it out.

In the end YHC logged 4.8 miles. We all agreed that the final 0.75 miles at our mile pace was difficult to say the least. The entire workout was in the rain, but it never go that bad. As Big Willy said, at least it wasn’t 15 degrees colder.

We went over announcements, Frac saved MacGyver, and I prayed us out to close.

  • The Wally Ladder – from Fracsac

The Wally Sprint is one of the most undervalued AOs in the region. YHC decided to step up and take the Q. The following was outlined, following the disclaimer:

    1 mile warm up

    Ladder work:

    100 meter race pace
    100 meter recovery

    200 meter race pace
    100 meter recovery

    300 meter race pace
    100 meter recovery

    400 meter race pace
    100 meter recovery

Down the ladder and back up until time runs out.

Welcome to our FNG – Welcome PVC!

    Good Stuff!
