  • Code of Ethics – 5 Principles for Auditors – from King Kong

Today is the 2nd Friday of Accountability. 23 Pax showed up on a beautiful morning in the upper 40’s with no wind. Perfect condition to add on miles for RCR. At the same time, the PAX had no idea they will get something educational out of this workout. We started off with some stretches.

    1) to the first stop (PJ’s on Tulane Campus) – once we got there, we did some arm circles and self love. When people say “accounting,” most think of tax returns, financial accounting…. but many never thought about auditing. And this is our focus today – Audit.

Why is auditing important? If Sandbar asks you to invest in his Left Bank company, the first thing you would ask for… his financial statements so that you can make a wise decision whether or not to invest in his delicious company. Sandbar seems like a nice guy, but how do I know his financials are accurate? How do we know he’s not inflating his revenue and net profit? If his financial statements were audited by an independent firm or accountant, you have more confident that his financial statements are free from material misstatements.

2.) 2nd stop (field by UC) – There are 5 Code of Ethics Principles for auditors. First one is Integrity.

Integrity – Audits are performed with diligence, honesty, and responsibility. Keeping yourself honest so that you can provide quality work for your clients and peers.

We kept ourselves honest by doing 10 perfect form inclined merkins in cadence.

3.) 3rd Stop (Turf Field by Tulane Garage) – While we were doing LBTs, we were discussing the 2nd principle, which is Objectivity.

Objectivity – Auditors remain unbiased or fair in all their dealings.

Like Angie’s said – “have to see both sides.”

4.) 4th stop (Indian run to the top of Tulane garage) – at the top, we talked about the 3rd principle, which is Professional Competence and Due Care, while we were doing shoulder taps.

Competence – keep up your knowledge and skill while providing service to your client. Apply due care based on the importance of tasks and on the confidence given to you by a client.

5.) 5th stop (Indian run to the top of Loyola “mini” garage) – at the top, we brought up the 4th principle, which is Confidentiality, while we were in people’s chair position with overhead presses.

Confidentiality – Practice discretion and protection of information when auditing. Never use audit information for personal gain or in harmful way to legitimize the interests of an audit.

6.) 6th stop (Indian run to the top of WPM)

7.) final stop – back to the flag to finish off with the final principle, which is Professional Behavior.

Professional Behavior – follow the law and regulations.

At the COT, I quizzed the PAX and see if they were paying attention on the 5 principles. Angie’s List was dialed in and aced the quiz.

Thanks for allowing me to lead and lets keep each other accountable!!!

  • Run Cajun Run day 9 – mini loops with a COP – from Reluctant Yankee

Morning started off right – with a pre run to the AO with Popalock. I appreciate the push from POP the COP. Ran to the AO Set up a simple loop to help get mileage but I was surprisingly gassed on the shoulders too!
We did a warmup COP SSH, Lunge around the clock, Roaches, and Jlos
    Then went to the shelter
In chalk- 10 Hand release merks, 20 shoulder taps, 30 dips and 40 russian twist
The loop went from shelter to rows (x 20) then around the track to the pull ups (amrap)
then back to shelter. I completed 4 full loops – many pax completed 5.
Then back to the flag for a 3 min of Mary sesh. LBT, penguins, freddies, plank jack, dying bug.

Just want to get some mileage in and something for the body – focused on shoulders and core.

    Always a please to lead!
We closed our COT with a prayer to accelerate our relationships.

  • Squeaker at The Skinny – from MacGyver

18 PAX and YHC turned up for a brisk morning at the Skinny, disclaimer was raised then we promptly moseyed over to the field across the street for a warm up –

    Side straddle hops-30
    Abe vigotas slow-10
    Imperial walkers -15
    Peter Parker’s-15
    Parker peters -15
    LBC’s-20
    Flutter kicks-25

After the warm up we recovered and moseyed to the levee for BLIMPS, running back and forth using the power poles for progressively farther turn around points,

After (2) 20 count breathers, the PAX moseyed over to the top of the levee for down and back Bear crawls(x2) then sets on the top of the levee

    American Hammer x10
    LBC’s X30
    merkins x20
    Flutter kicks x25
    Wife non-pleasers x10
    Penguins. X15
    Dying cockroaches x20
All were in 2 or 4 count cadence

Now that we were rested, we moseyed off the levee to the front of Audubon for 20x dips, and 15 setups. We then moseyed back to COT for echo count stretches, and 20 merkins to round out our morning. Count off, NoR, intentions, and a prayer. Then all the over achievers made a victory lap of Audubon for RCR.

Somewhere towards the end, Q lost his breath and started squeaking like a pre pubescent teenage girl, but we won’t talk about that. What happens at the The Skinny, stays at The Skinny

PS; I believe a certain PAX still owes us an explanation of what a “19 year old pleaser” is. It remains to be seen if that mystery will ever be solved……

PPS; Also YHC can’t remember the names of 5 of the PAX who attended, sorry for that but your not forgotten. T-claps for those HIM’s

    Until next Q-

    MacGyver.

  • WWGD – What Would Gabby Do? – from Willie

I checked my phone one last time before going to bed Friday night, only to find Gabrielle looking for someone to take his Q at Misty Mountain in the morning. I decided to help a brutha out! I was not feeling particularly creative, so I designed the workout based on what I thought Gabby would do. We started with a warm up beneath the Oak trees in front of Tulane University… All in cadence.

    SSHx20, Arm Circles F/B x10, Imperial Walkers x20, Grass Grabbers x10
I cant believe I forgot the Open Gates and Toy Soldiers. That was a miss on my part!

After a mosey to the base of the Mountain. We knocked a a Route 66 of Burpees starting with one rep on the bottom, and ending with 11 at the very top, adding one rep per side per floor. Gabby loves him some Route 66!

We then made our way down to the benches for the R/L leg power ups, incline and decline merks and dips. Chiquita very astutely pointed out that Gabby would demonstrate each exercise and give a long-winded description of each to the PAX. So i did my best Gabby impression. Judging by the laughter that ensued, the PAX thought it was a very uncanny impression of Gabby!

We ended the Gabby experience at Rosy Palm Court with low slow squats (butts hitting the bench) in cadence x15, and Mary with each PAX leading an Ab exercise. On our mosey back to the flag, Subprime pointed out that Gabby’s shirt is waaaay tighter than mine, and we were actually headed back to the flag on time…

We ended with COT and cawfee under the oaks in Audubon Park.

  • B.O.M.B.S. Away at the Birdcage! – from Gabrielle

Happy New Year’s Pax! It’s humbling for YHC to be Q’ing the first Birdcage of 2022. Here’s to 2022 being better than 2021 (it’s gotta be right?). So, with a disclaimer and a quick run-down of our 5 core principles and motto for our FNG we are off!
Moseyed to the Soccer Field for Warm-Up
    • Imperial Walkers IC X15
    • Toe Taps IC X15
    • Self Love IC X15
    • Peter Parker’s IC X10
    • Parker Peter’s IC X10
Mosey to Audubon statue and partner up for B.O.M.B.S all below counts are cumulative. PAX one runs around median while PAX two completes exercises. Flapjack till reps are complete.
    • 50 Burpees
    • 100 OH Press in People’s Chair
    • 150 Merkins
    • 175 Big Boy Sit-Ups
    • 200 Squats
Next, mosey to track for a little Route 66:
    • Inch Worm to Body Bag Builders starting at 1 Plank Jack/Mountain Climber/Merkin upping 1 rep at each succeeding running man up to 11 running man for a total of 66 reps.
Ran out of time, so called it with most PAX somewhere between 10 and 11th running man.
Moseyed to flag for Count off, Name-o-rama (one FNG, DEB as his last name is Walmsley and Domincan is on Walmsley and he went to a lot of Debutante balls in the past), announcements, intentions and prayer.
Thank you for letting me lead!

  • F3 NOLA Convergence 2021 (a.k.a.”Crew Change”) – Mothership 2021-10-16 – from Reluctant Yankee

A fine morning, with a change in the weather providing a fitting backdrop for the changing of the guard on the F3 New Orleans Leadership Team.

Kicked off at the flag zone with naming of the F3 NOLA Rookie of the Year and F3 NOLA Man of the Year. These went to Almonaster and Hokie Pokie, respectively. High praise and congratulations to both of these high-impact men for their efforts during the past year!

Yankee then kicked things off on the Great Lawn with:
    Side Straddles Hops x27
Hillbillies (in honor of Hawg’s prom) x 20
    OYO burpees x10
    Side Lunges x20
    Low Country Crabs x20
    Dying Cockroaches x20

Moseyed to the track where Hawgcycle took over. Hawg brought the hurt with a modified Dirty Mac Deuce featuring:

    Larry Craigs x12
    Sumo Squats x12
    LBC x12

Pax then partnered up. One pax sprinted 200 m around the tracks while the other moseyed across, then vice versa. Pax reassembled for announcement of the new SLT.

It was time. Time to give a speech that would last generations, a speech commemorating the past 7 years, and one that would empower the incoming SLT for what was yet to come. Reluctant Yankee reached deep within his well of indisputable high octane expressions, and it was there and then he passed the torch of F3 Nola to Fracsac and Catfish, his great words of wisdom spreading across the field of F3 Nola men, leaders of this Fitness Fellowship and Faith thing we simply refer to as F3. Did anybody write down what he said?

Fracsac circled the pax up on the field and did 5 SSH IC, followed by 10 burpees OYO. Many thought Shock and Awe was in the works, but nay, just an attention grabber. Next up was the mental challenge.

6 SSH IC followed by 11 more in silence, all must end with the Q or a penalty would be handed out. The Pax passed with flying colors….but did they?

4 corners on the track with 10 x 8 count body builders on 2 corners and 10 x burpees on the other 2. Circle back up for mental challenge again.

This time there was a failure, with 10 x 8 count body builders as the penalty. The pax completed it the next go flawlessly.

Pax had had enough mental abuse at this point, so there was much rejoicing when the workout was handed to Catfish. Catfish gently led things forward with:

    8-Counts x10
    Low Slow 8-Count Squats x20
    Bonnie Blairs x15
Mosey back to the Great Lawn, with a quick stop at the baseball field behind Tad Gormley to do some Jack Webbs (up to 13, 11 got skipped). Continued the mosey back to the Great Lawn.

At the Great Lawn, LBTs waiting x15 for the six. Frac then came back for a rousing round of Catalina Wine mixers (x15) for the finish.

    Back to flag for COT.

Announcements: Roast on the Coast Starting Nov 5; GoRuck Tough NOLA the following weekend on NOV 12; Almonaster Qing a Christmas charity effort related to Operation Sweet Tooth (details to come)

Delicious coffee and breakfast followed. Thanks to all who assisted with preparation for this.

Thanks to all who attended and assisted with today’s convergence, and stay tuned for further announcements from the new leadership team!

  • More Rarajapari – from Reluctant Yankee

The PAX of uptown got some rarajapari on with RY as the Q. Ball and a partner. Mosey to John James Audubon.

At the statue we did a mini – macdeuce 2 sets of 4 exercises x 12 (I struggled to hit 12 – not sure why I couldn’t remember)

Then we long mosey’d to the HILL. At the HILL we lined up on the soccer field – 10 laps sprint to the other side jog back with 10 freddie merks/ 10 monkey humpers at the line.
After 7 laps the train was getting too close.

Sudden change – hustle to the other side of the train tracks so we don’t get stuck. Ran into a group of men exercising. El Wire with the attempted headlock.

Mosey’d to labrynth but the clock was ticking – Douille had to bail. Made it to the flag one minute late – sorry my boys. Picked up balls and reset for next time.

Reminder to be good humans and people. Gratitude for time and life.

  • Your Krewe is Always Backing you Up! – from Sea Man

Ahab had his whale! But he was alone! Today we had a krewe show up to avenge our friends death to the man eating jaguar shark of Lake Ponchetrain! Today 15 brave, strapping, and strong men jumped into the water to avenge our lost pax! A 4x increase over last week!

We searched for the man eater at all levels and went up and down the ladder!
Laps of 25M, 50M, 75M, 100M, 75M, 50M, and 25M. Between each lap the pax did Squats and Flutter kicks of increasing reps.

After an arduous search we spent some time with a lap of Shuffle Board (10lbs weight moved only underwater to and fro 50m)

With time left we proceeded to end the. morning with Ring of Fire. Two 10lbs weights moving around the circle in opposite directions, 10 reps each arm. Once complete Pax continued to tread water passing the medicine ball around.

    One FNG called Sheep’s Head!

As sight Q I think all future FNG’s at Zissou should be named after fish.

  • Chancun… no passports needed – from King Kong

I told Yankee that I will take the Q this Wednesday in honor of me missing my Cancun trip due to Covid Delta Variant.

11 PAX showed up this muggy morning. First stop – short mosey to the fountain by Audubon Zoo, where we did the following warmups: SSH x 20, Ankle Grabbers x 10, Lunges x 10, Self Love x 10. The fountain reminds me hanging out by the resort pool with a margarita… but that didn’t happen.

Next stop – moseyed to the main entrance of Audubon Zoo. I told the PAX that I hate to be rushed and running around on my vacation. I like to relax and stay put. So today’s focus is to stay in one place and work on our forms. So we did everything in cadence:

    Round 1
    20 SSH
    20 Air Squats
    15 High Knees
    20 Lunges
    30 seconds Rocky Balboa
    30 seconds Al Gore
    5 Burpees
    20 Crunches
    10 Merkins

    Round 2
    20 SSH
    15 American Hammers
    15 High Knees
    20 Lunges
    20 Shoulder Taps
    10 Burpees
    20 Mountain Climbers
    20 Jump Squats

Short walk to the parking lot in front of the Zoo. We picked a great view on the beach and did 11’s. Start off one side with 10 jump squats and 1 hand-released merkin on the other side. Bear-Crawl in between. After 2 rounds of 11’s, Q noticed there were a lot of small pebbles / rocks on the beach hurting our hands…. therefore, we changed it to lunges and bunny hops in between instead of crawling. Next time, I will pick a different beach (maybe less of a view with soft sand).

Finished the workout with a Round of Chancun, which included few exercises in Superman position. Moseyed back to the flag with some coconut water waiting for us before the COT.

I am always grateful and thankful to be able to workout with you PAX on a regular basis. I hope to do this for a very long time.

  • All the things a “Q” can bring – from Bieber

An opportunity to Q is an opportunity for many things. There is the “Making a Fool of One’s Self” where you don’t correctly explain the exercise and no one seems to be doing the right thing. Then there is the, “Who the hell does he think he is?” mistake where the Q (me) assigns things that look good on paper, but ultimately suck. Then there is the dreaded “Too much mumblechatter” mistake where obviously things are way too easy and you need to pick up the pace. Lastly, there is the “Dude, you ain’t making too many friends” mistake where everyone is sucking wind and asking what time it is. Surprisingly, the Q this morning at the Skinny provided ample breeding ground for all of the above situations, and I have zero regrets. Thank you to the 21 Pax who shared in today’s fun. Here we go…
