    Moseyed to the large parking lot for a couple routines on about 100 yards of Asphalt. **I treated the Pax to a River themed playlist. Took “Proud Mary” for Gabby to pick up on this.

    Routine 1: Quarter Pounder

    Sprint to the 25 yards and Do 25 merkins, Run backwards to Goal And Sprint to the 50 and do 50 squats, Backwards to Goal Line sprint to the 75 and do 75 plank jacks, Run backwards to the goal line and sprint to the hundred and do 100 SSH. mix and match exercises for the reps.

    Routine 2: Red Barchetta (Gabby seemed disappointed that YHC didn’t have the supporting song.)

    100 Yard Dash then 100 SSHs, run back to start point to plank/wait for six; 75 yard dash then 75 mountain climbers, run back to start point to plank/wait for six; 50 yard dash then 50 LBCs, run back to start point to plank/wait for six; 25 yard dash then 25 shoulder taps (2 is 1), run back to start point to plank/wait for six; 10 yard dash then 10 burpees, run back to start point and plank/wait for six.

    Moseyed to the amphitheater where Vagabond admired the rock formation on the batture and brought to YHC’s attention

    Left legged step ups
    DIPS
    Right legged step ups
    Incline merkins

    Pick out a rock for squats, more step ups (weighted this time) and derkins

  • The Arrival of Christmas Spirit – from War Eagle

    YHC arrived early to the beautifully lit Huey P Long Ave in Gretna. I had promised an arrival of Christmas spirit, so with a funny Christmas sweater and elf hat, YHC along with 8 other HIMs disappeared into the gloom.

    We mosey a few blocks for a traditional-ish warmup:

    Each year, my M surprises me with the 12 days of Christmas.

    I thought I would share the love with my own version of the 12 days of Christmas starting at the Christmas tree a sign read, “Bear Crawl” to the next sign.

    The second sign read:

    The signs continued down the mall. The final sign read:

  • HIMs Go Back to School – from Fracsac

    4 Pax made a choice to take the DRP on their journey to get right and posted to The OG on the Best Bank! War Eagle, Hokie, Shortbus and YHC were ready! With a shovel flag planted, disclaimer was given, then:

    Hit the parking lot wall for:

    Jackass Burpee Webbs

    It’s like a Jack Webb, but with 1 burpee, 2 donkey kicks, 2 burpees, 4 donkey kicks and so on.

    You may think it’s the burpees that get you, and you’d be wrong!

    Back to the main area for some schooling, Billy Madison style.
    Run a lap, do 12 Merkins – that’s 1st grade
    Run a lap, do 12 Merkins and 12 LBCs – that’s 2nd grade.
    Keep the stack going with more horrible exercises. We made it to our Junior year, and then ended with our 12 burpees required to get our diploma. We’re HIMs!!!!

  • Burpees and Levees just feel right – from Fracsac

    5 Pax made a choice to take the DRP on their journey to get right and posted to the OG. YHC traveled way o’er yonder on the West Bank, wondering who would show following a late night of crypto talk. With a shovel flag planted, disclaimer was given, then:

    Warmup

    SSH IC x 31
    IW x 15
    GG IC x 10

    Mosey to the levee, which is incredibly steep! Start off with Jacob’s Ladder:

    Run up levee, 1 burpee, run back down
    Run up levee, 2 burpees, back down
    Continue up to 7 burpees
    That’s 28 burpees so far…

    Mosey to top of levee for some 11’s. There just happens to be 11 light posts, so can’t pass it up!

    Burpees is the exercise and broad jumps are the movement between posts. Start at 1, end at 11.
    That’s 66 more burpees….94 total thus far..

    With the mighty Mississippi River receding from the steps, take advantage and incorporate into the DirtyMacDeuce…

    4 rounds of 3 x 12 rep exercises, an arm, a leg and a core. Run a lap after each round. The lap was down the riverside levee, across the bottom, then back up.

    Round 1 – merkins, flutter kicks, squats
    Round 2 – Floyd Mayweathers, Hello Dolly, low slow squats
    Round 3 – Catalina Wine Mixers, Freddie Mercs, Bobby Hurleys
    Round 4 – Diamond Merkins, tin snips, and 12 Burpees

    That brings the burpee count to 106….

  • 2020 deja vu – from T-Square

    Only two pax braved the year-end beat down at The OG: Short Bus & TSquare (Q).
    After compulsory statements, the two pax moseyed for a lap, stretched with some cherry pickers, static leg stretches, Anne’s, and Failure to Launch.

    Then it was time to roll the dice (die to be exact). Wielding a device of chance and misery, the pax took turns rolling the “2020 deja vu cube” for the next exercise in quick succession. The potential choices included 20 plank jacks, 20 LBCs, 20 SSH, 20 jack webs, 20 bob hurley’s, or 10 up/downs (high-knees til Q calls “down”, hit floor and bounce back up to high-knees..).
    Roll the same exercise twice in succession and the count jumps another 20 for a new total of 40 reps… and wouldn’t you know, we hit deja vu for the up/downs! After every two rolls we ran a lap. We rinsed and repeated through 10 rolls of the die.

    We cooled down with core: a few rounds of Lazy Boys for 15 count center recline immediately followed by 15 count right-leaning recline and a 15 count left-leaning recline. Then on to box cutters followed by a brief ring of fire (2pax brief…) and a final cool down lap.

    Closed out the morning with our final CoT for The OG for 2020… praying for 2021 to bring new opportunities & strength to heal and help those in need.
