Jumped at Okwata – from Fracsac
It was a dark and stormy night, which meant Okwata would be a slosh fest. With that YHC arrived early to scope things out and prepare. See NMM for the details of that.
3 other Pax joined YHC to bring the awesome foursome. Disclaimer given, the mosey to the front of the fountain for warmup. Regular stuff, but intentionally did not go straight into SSH based on a discussion with some fellow pax Monday night.

1 merkin with 2 air presses in people’s chair
2 merkins with 4 air presses
Continue up to 10 and 20.Mosey to the lakefront for Reverse Route 66:
11 burpees at first light pole then 10 at next light pole and continued down to 1.Do some merkins at light poles on our way to the planters near Canal. Step ups, dips and box jumps.
Mosey to Canal for 11s with squats and squat jumps. Got about halfway through before calling it and heading back to the flag.

-When YHC arrived early, someone from a nearby parked car asked if they could get a jump. I was alone and my guard went up. Of course I wanted to help, but I also read about the robberies and car jackings in the City. So I stalled until Cheese Steak arrived, then approached the vehicle. Who would mess with Cheese Steak, right? Then Wilson and JV came in.
We were able to help, but the car wouldn’t keep running, and I’m lacking mechanic skills.
Strength in numbers right? I was relieved to see a few of my brothers show up and be there for me.
We started 7 minutes late, and went over 7 minutes for the full 45 minutes by unanimous consensus.

Pole Dancing – from Rudy
8 HIM on the shores of the lake early in the morning. The weather was nowhere near as cold as YHC expected – so of course, no surprise to see JV in his tank top, making Hawg look absolutely overdressed in his typical shortsleeve shirt. YHC was bundled for a full winter day, as were Wilson and Cheese Steak. Not sure how Cheese Steak was able to move under all of those Brother Martin layers, but that’s on him…
YHC pulled the first backblast he could locate from his Okwata Q records – June, 2017. Appropriately titled “Leg Day at Okwata” – guess what we were gonna focus on this am?
Imitating the new hot Uptown workout, apparently popularized by Willie, the PAX began with speed walk (turn those hips!) to the top of the Levee. From there, a quick warmup of the usuals.
Thang 1: BLIMP ladder. 5 Burpees on top of the levee, run down for 5 BBSU, then run back up. Round 2: 5 Burpees, 10 Lunges, …. Keep adding through the rest of the I – M – P – S cycle.
Thang 2: Quadrophelia – the full 4 minutes worth!
People’s Lunge Walk along the top of the levee. We all lunge walk while the PAX from the back speed walks to the front. One cycle through got us to the House of Pain
Thang 3: 2 rotations of Step Ups, Squats, Pull Ups and a run up the levee with burpees at the top (our timer).
Thang 4: Calves needed some work. Run across the road to see if we could find someplace to do it – and Voila, a new Okwata exercise has been born. The Pole Dancers. Come on out to see and experience. The glory of 8 PAX pole dancing in the sunrise – a sight to behold!
Mosey back to the flag for some last rounds of Mary – including Wife Pleasers and Monkey Humpers.

Gator Fest/ Roll Wave – from Tinkles
Impromptu Q. I was surprised when I rolled up at 5:30 that the pax wasn’t moving. I made the mistake of asking who was the Q and it was crickets. Off we go.
Palm circle for warm up.
Mosey over to HNG for a preview of Gator Fest! The slide looks ready to roll. Rumor that F3 guys get 5 free tickets from Mens Club, look for Willie! We did some 6 to work off the fried twinkies paired with Urban South brew that is yet to come.
Mosey over to the Tulane Alum house. Don’t think we had a greenie undergrad but perhaps a MBA grad who rolls burritos. Gate was open so we took advantage of the nice yard for ring of fire.
Mosey to turf field for 4 corner blimps.
Mosey to garage for Indian run to the top. Beautiful sunrise. Our city looks beautiful from a distance- good to remember sometimes.
Mosey to Tulane quad. No beer or burgers yet, time for step ups and decline merkins.

Good morningsYHC brought just enough rope for 10 pax – holding with 2 hands overhead we started at a walking pace then with a level of confidence picked it up to a slow mosey as we ascended the levee transitioning to an Indian run towards our destination that only YHC knew.
Once arrived we dropped the rope and descended the levee lining up along the bottom.
1771 – 1+7 up and over 7+1 up and over repeat with numbers ascending and descending now 2+6 up and over 6+2 continuing until there is a reverse order 7117 yet always added the total number of reps = 8
V-Ups and Jump Squats
So 1 VU + 7 JS then up and over 7 VP + 1 JS (or you could do 1JS + 7VU same thing). The reps change as outlined above always = 8
When pax finished we did Mary until the 6 joined and finished through the reps YHC had on his mind.Then line up with the rope Indian run to the starting spot of the “H8”. 2 teams of 5 – race – as a group pax complete 5 hand release merkins run to the top of the levee cross over to center bear crawl across run down the other side to opposite side corner 5 more hand release merkins (these will be done at all corners) back up cross over bear crawl across the middle back down finishing HS merkins at the corners.
YHC had planned for a looser punishment yet it was skipped (some may say b/c YHC was on the loosing team yet there was a plan).
Align at the base of the levee – “7”
6 merkins 1 double under then 5 merkins 2 double under so on.Now grab the rope for overhead mosey to the “house of pain” (this was our recovery)
Partner up – YHC did a bad job of assigning a rotation yet we seemed to figure it out.

Timer – run to top of levee 2 burpees run downLooking at the time YHC put in an old school “Okwata rite” – Quadrophilia! We only went 2 rounds which brought about some sad protest that YHC didn’t plan well enough for the full 4 minute effect…..this will be adjusted as arm circles won’t ever make a future beatdown of this YHC!
COT – be aware as to “lost sheep”. Are we in the 99 who should be encouraging and praying for the 1 or are we at times the 1?
