September 12th – the REAL Space Day – from Rudy

9 PAX at Mothership for the Real Space Day. Frac tried to claim that there is an actual space day – maybe March, or July, or December. BUT NOT SEPTEMBER. But YHC proceeded with 4 actual space related events. Welcome to our two DR visitors – Top Soil from Arkansas (Bro-in-law of Hawg) and Crawdaddy, a regular DR visitor.

If this was an actual Space Launch – Bongo would’ve been left behind, as he chose to arrive at 632 for a 630 takeoff.

๐Ÿš€ 1. LUNA 2 โ€” LAUNCH
โ€œOn September 12, 1959, the Soviet Union launched Luna 2 toward the Moon. It would become the first human-made object to reach another celestial body. So we’re starting the same way: launch.โ€

The Thang: BLIMPS with a launch. After each letter, sprint to the next cone and return to continue the BLIMP ladder. Hawg was the wise one – field was sopping, so barefeet may have been better than soggy shoes.

Turned it into BLIMP in the interest of time.

๐ŸŒ• 2. JFK โ€” WE CHOOSE TO GO
โ€œThree years later, on September 12, 1962, President Kennedy stood at Rice University and challenged America to go to the Moon. His reason works just as well for what we’re about to do: โ€˜not because they are easy, but because they are hard.โ€™โ€

Colonel Mustard provided a stunningly effective New England echo effect. Any speech anyone gives – hire him to be your 2nd. Your speech will be much much better just because of that.

The Thang: “It’s Hard”. 4 corners at the Gazebos around the Main Lawn. Start with 5 Hand Release Merkins and 5 Prisoner 2-Count squats. Next gazebo 10 each. 15 each. 20 each. 25 each. That’s 75 total of each. That was Hard. But that’s why we do these things.

Mayhem in the lead, instructed to go one more and start 30 each. Teach him to be fit.

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ 3. GEMINI 11 โ€” RENDEZVOUS
โ€œOn September 12, 1966, Gemini 11 launched with Pete Conrad and Richard Gordon. On their very first orbit, they rendezvoused and docked with another spacecraft โ€” the first time that had ever been accomplished that quickly. So find your partner: it’s time to rendezvous.โ€

Rendevous at the Mini to grab a pair of bricks for each PAX Pair.

PAX 1: Core work. PAX 2: Take the bricks to the center of the field for 2 brickpees. Return, exchange, repeat. Caboose notes that porous bricks get heavier as they gather water. He’s not wrong.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿš€ 4. MAE JEMISON โ€” ENDEAVOUR
โ€œOn September 12, 1992, Mae Jemison launched aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour, becoming the first Black woman to travel in space. Our final mission is Endeavour โ€” grab a heavy rock and finish strong.โ€

Mosey to the rocks for our Endeavour. 10-8-6-4-2 of Overhead, Curl, Row. 10-8-6-out-of-time for Chest / Skull crusher. Return and get back to the flag.
