A small, motivated group formed the Northshore crew on a cold, windy morning.
We began with a 10 minute warm-up mosey to the Marsh and its adjacent field. The core of the work-out included two different individual challenges with time limits. The first challenge, 10 minutes in duration with a 5 iteration goal, paired 10 burpees with a 100m course carrying a 20-lb paver. The second challenge, 8 minutes in duration with a 4 iteration goal, combined 15 hand-release push-ups, a short bear crawl, 20 lunges, and 2 pull-ups separated by short run sections.
Now sufficiently warmed-up, we separated into 2 teams for a quick game of Cajun handball. Bushwacker and Jose 10k positioned themselves in opposite goals to anchor the two teams. Play was back-and-forth with stunning saves by both goalies, including Jose 10k’s horizontal dive to rob Zoolander’s whizzing shot. With the time running down and a 2-goal deficit, Zoolander, Grundy and Home Boy connected on a perfect play to score a 2 point goal and send the game in extra time. Waterpik, a handball ace, laced a perfect shot to secure the win for the reds.
We made the 10 minute mosey back to the flag pole, this time propelled by a trail car playing Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger for close-out and then transition to coffee and fellowship. Announcements included the obligatory mention of the November turkey trot and holiday morning gathering at Pik’s, so as to not forget!
