  • Lord of the Flies you say? – from Russo

Conversations tend to get out of hand on occasion early in the morning. What starts with a simple “How was your weekend?” quickly turns into something greater, and in this instance at Granny’s, it was “Next thing you it’s a Lord of the Flies situation”. You have to be there to appreciate.

  • Fall Back, Spring Ahead! – from The Hammer

We lost an hour of sleep, and hour of morning light. It was dark, chilly, and a bit eerie at the playground this morning.
Sounds like a solid beatdown at the marsh
Warmups- Apparently there was a switch with the Q. Akbar had it originally, but the hammer chose to take over. SSH, self love, grass grabbers, imperial walkers, toe touches, etc…
A beatdown of epic proportions.— upper body overload thanks to Hammer!
First, Five rounds of 5 pull-ups, 10 merkins, and 15 squats.
2nd- mosey to the street to begin our trip to the lake front. We stopped at every other stop sign with merkins and core work Classic Hammer move ignoring the legs, continuing the upper body trauma from Waterpik, huh? And then finishing it off with dirkens, sit-ups, LBCs, and irkens at the lakefront..

There was some good mumble chatter too. Hogsbreath on the job hunt, Hammer’s Houston museum trip, and Wicked going full primal mode for his track event — except he wanted to go no shirt, no drag, just speed. Upset that he had to wear his tank top, complaining that it only slows him down. Love it. Poor Jose, though, four and a half days of work… rough life. At least he only has 49.5 work days left until Summer break, 30 days until Spring Break. Damn, he doesn’t work much…

What’s the next workout plan looking like? You hitting it again soon or resting those arms a bit?

The Q sheet is open, the workouts are free, EH some new blood, headlock some brothers who haven’t shown up in awhile.

  • 2 to 22 too – from Russo

Cool for some, not for others this morning as a dozen HIM took to the streets to make themselves stronger. Very basic this week as I’ve run out of creativity but not heart.

    – imperial walkers
    – Self love
    – arm circles
    – Good mornings
    – High knees
    – Torso twists

    Thang

Given the date, I had to throw in the number 2. We would mosey around, stopping periodically for some combination of 2 burpees plus 22 of one or two exercises:
    Lunges

Midway through we made it to the Splashpad for two calf raises up each step and 2 rounds of slalom the columns.

Back at the flag, it was 11 IC penguins, LBCs, flutter kicks and we closed with COT, NOR, A, and P.

I enjoyed the camaraderie of each of you and thanks for joining.

  • Runners, Ruckers and a Tweener!! – from Shooter

With excellent conditions of 55 degree weather 8 HIMs embarked on the Scramble. Some early some on time and of course there is Cowbell right after rolling in hot. One needs to recognize the consistency picking up right where he left off from his F3 break while he shifted to straight running. PAX completed a few warmups of Torso twists, grass grabbers, Butt kicks, Imperial walkers, Hillbillies and Good Mornings. Instructions 20 out and back for the Ruckers and the Shooter route down W Causeway approach zig zagging back to the AO. Upon return completed some stretches and wrapped up..

Appreciate the post and until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!

  • Foggy on the Escalator – from Russo

I realize this may be late in at least one or two people’s eyes, but we can’t all be superstars.

    Warmup (10x IC)
    Seal jacks
    Grass grabbers
    SSHs
    Arm circles
    Torso twists
    Imperial walkers

    Thang

I tried to make at least half of the beatdown mosey-related for the RCR folks, so we did just that: moseyed around old Mandeville, stopping on average every block or two to perform reps of 10 exercises in what I call an “Escalator”, or as Chewy rightly called it: “Sudoku”. Exercise 1 gets 10 reps, Exercise 2 gets 9 reps, down to one. Next round, Exercise 1 gets 1 rep, 2 gets 10, R&R until as Steve was first to chime each will get 55 reps for a total of 550 movements. Math!

    The exercises:
    Shoulder tap plank jacks
    Star jumps
    Merkins
    Burpees
    Jump squats
    Murder bunnies
    American hammers
    Crunchy frogs
    Donkey kicks
    Imperial squat walkers

The weather: Foggy! As thick as I’ve seen this year (39 days in). This, humid so sweat was a plenty. Around 64 degrees to start, so within the 3.7 degree window that Quarterpipe will join us in.

    The music: Not Jose’s

We timed it well enough that there was no Mary, so COT, NOR, announcements, and prayer closed us out.

Coffee afterward, which is apparently a thing and I may or may not have needed a special engraved invitation for.

Thank you all for joining and making the world a better place. SYITG

  • Hammer Time: The Return of the Smackdown – from The Hammer

    Warm-up (The Forge):
    • Sledge Swings – Arm circles forward and backward (because the hammer must be warmed up before striking).
    • Anvil Hops – High knees to get the legs fired up.
    • Grass Grabbers – Toy soldiers to loosen the hamstrings.

    The Beatdown (Hammer Strikes Again):
(Each exercise represents a different part of a hammer’s swing—because every rep is a blow of punishment.)

Round 1: The Wind-Up Mini Murph
    • 5 Pull-ups (You’re lifting the hammer over your head.)
    • 10 Push-ups (Pressing down with force.)
    • 15 Squats (The weight of the hammer bearing down.)
    • Run a lap around the block, stopping at each corner for core work:
    • Corner 1: “Hammer Hold” – 20-second plank
    • Corner 2: “Jackhammer” – 20 mountain climbers
    • Corner 3: “Wrecking Ball” – 15 big-boy sit-ups
    • Corner 4: “Sledge Slam” – 10 burpees (because why not?)

    Round 2: The Follow-Through
    • Repeat the Mini Murph (5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats, 5 rounds).
    • Another lap around the block with core exercises at each corner (same as above).

    Finisher: “Nailed It”
    • Hammer Smashes – 20 jumping lunges (each leg = 1)
    • Drop the Hammer – 10 burpees
    • Victory Hold – 1-minute wall sit

    COT and Out!

Hammer, thanks for returning and reminding everyone that workouts don’t have to be fun to be legendary.

  • Grants Tomb – from Akbar
