  • Rucking, Running, and knees over toes (oh my!) – from Charmin

Bolt pushed us ruckers to a pace of 16:52. The runners did whatever it is they do, and the kots guys were late (what’s new lol).

Cot was about loving our loved ones while we can.

  • Sabbath Day! – from Vagabond

Warmup, jump rope, pax choice with rock, Sunday mornings, plank

  • El Diablo’s BDSM (Burpees Don’t Suck Much) – from Bolt

In preparation for my 3 yr MANniversary Q 6/5, while DR in The Woodlands, YHC wanted to try something new, except of course for the warmorama song bc the pax want what they want and who am I to deny them?! Started with Abe Vigoda then followed by Abe SLOgoda after Bogey, at coffee recently, challenged the idea of what’s a warmup, contending that SSH is too high impact for a warmup. Next, of course, were SSH followed by the usuals. Walk the field backwards to the playground equipment, music blaring to create pax pleasure and pain, depending on the listener (GLORIOUS).

Morning call x5: this made for a long plank and plenty merkins with 17 pax (it IS starting off to be a good morning), especially with Hand Grenada and Vagabond dragging ass to the pull up bar at the end. Mosey to pavilion where the skip rule was explained, prompting Rudy to immediately make us pay 5 burpees (no double skips so thank Rudy for Sandstorm).

El Diablo Ds: Dry Docks, (20) (Fast Tax doesn’t like screaming, pay five burpees), Dolly (25), Dips (20), Dying Cockroches (31 just cuz), Derkins (20), Dirty Hookups (20), Diamond merkins (5, they suck at the end): all in varied cadence (the Pax loved that part). Mosey back to warmorama spot and circle up with me, no more skipping allowed.

100 Burpee playlist (below): burpee the key word(s) and perform a movement in between (SSH, Seal claps, IW, OH claps). 30 sec rest between songs. YHC pivoted the fourth song to be LBC/wife pleasers and still ran outta time (Fast Tax was first to call time so that must mean it was good. Good meaning bad, not good meaning good—this pleased YHC). Honored, motivated, and appreciative as always, pax! COT.

    100 Burpee Playlist:
    Flower/Moby: SSH, “Down”
    Tubthumping/Chumbawumba: Seal
    Claps, “Down”
    Roxanne/Sting: Imperial Walkers, “Roxanne”
Get Back Up/Toby Mac: OH claps, “Get back up”

  • Birthday Q with no Plans – from Pillsbury

It was a not so humid morning with a tad breeze. I woke up later than expected, but arrived at the AO at 5:10am. I made my rounds to locate spots for our unplanned work out and hoped that I could come up with something worth it that could challenge everyone.

At 5:30 I announced I was the Q explained I was not a professional! No feet in mouth this time.

Some of us mosey over to the football for warm ups the rest hit the track for knees over toes

    Warm o Rama

    30 side straddle hops
    30 lbc’s
    30 grass crabbers
    20 mountain climbers
    20 Abe Vigoda
    20 forward arm circles
    20 reverse arm circles
    20 over head claps

Mosey over to rock pile and pick a medium rock. Since it’s Monday and that means ROCK CITY, all of the following dealt with rocks.

    5 stations each
advancement you added another 10 reps each station, which ended in total 150 reps. Sounded better in my head than actually trying to do them. Made adjustments to 5 instead of 10.

    150 overhead press
    150 curls
    150 rolls
    150 chest press
150 big boy sit-up without rock

Mosy back to rock pile and walk backwards to home base. Hopefully everyone received a well balanced workout this AM!

    Yep… runners ran

Ruckers rucked … starting late and then finishing late

Others explored Knees over toes training

  • No Knees Over Toes Tabata – from Scantron

Started off with a brief backwards walk around the south end of the track to the parking lot behind the bleachers. Did a short warmup and then mosied over to the small levee behind the admin building.

We did some up and backs over the levee, with each run ending in some derkins (10, 8, 6, 4, 2).

That was followed by a Tabata with some complaints about not having a rock.

    6 exercises
8 rounds of 30 seconds work/10 seconds rest

Catalina Wine Mixer (complaints lessened after round 3)
Calf Raises (complaints increased and Bogey tried to calf raise to the beat)
Forward and Backward Arm Circles, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps (complaints decreased)
    Squats
    Flutter kicks
Side to Sides up the levee and back (no more complaints)

This was all accompanied by the following playlist, that when done right, ends with The Final Countdown finishing you out right at 45 mins.

  • Something About Mary – from Heisenberg

Having worked out at Wolfpack on Friday with Gabby (still waiting on backblast) and Mothership with Rudy on Saturday, my arms and legs were a little sore. My core was not, so with the intent to make my core sore I devised an ab-centric workout. Arriving with 45 seconds to spare at the NOMA fountain I announced the theme to Tool, Vagabond and Catfish. Abdominal workouts and abdominal surgeries are in conflict, so Catfish went for a run.
    Everything was “in cadence”.

Warm-up Imperial Walkers, Abe Vigoda’s, Grass Grabbers, (We were joined by Fracsac and Triple Shift each of whom were four minutes late) Arm Circles, on our faces for W’s, Y’s and T’s. To the top of the NOMA steps for a Deep Sea Diver with shoulder taps

    Crunch O Rama
    1. LBC
    2. Raised Leg – Crunch
    3. Freddy Mercury
    4. Right Side Crunch
    5. Left Side Crunch
    6. Reverse Crunch

    Lap around NOMA
    Plank O Rama
    1. Front Plank
    2. Nolan Ryan
    3. Low Right Side Plank
    4. Low Left Side Plank
    5. Back Plank

Run to back of NOMA for some . . . . Mary
    1. Heels to Heaven
    2. Gas Pumps
    3. Fire Hydrant
    4. Crunchy Frog
    5. Tin Snips
    6. Penguins
    7. Flutter Kicks
    8. Wide Legged Dying Cock Roaches
    9. Hello Dolly

    Finished with obligatory “Sunday Mornings”.
    COT.

  • Dewars, Storks and Peanut Butter and Butter – from Rudy

Yesterday (April 14th) was 3rd anniversary of my dad’s passing. YHC brought some memories to the beatdown this am. At 628am, YHC opened up the Mini, asked everyone to grab a pair of bricks. At 630am, YHC turned on the 80s playlist, and the 13 PAX moseyed (with their bricks) to the Peristyle.

But wait – Cheese Steak rolled in hot. YHC back to the car to get one more set of bricks. A few minutes later, our DR visitor from Chicago (Bob the Builder) rolled in. Hokie went for more bricks.

After a brief warmup (thank you Mahatma!), we got to work. We were going to visit a few places in the park. At each place, we’d have a cycle of exercises – 60 seconds on, 20 second rest.

Stop #1: The Peristyle with bricks. My father’s favorite evening night cap was a splash of Dewars. We still keep a bottle of it around with my family to periodically celebrate. 2 rounds of exercises to spell out DEWARS

    Donkey Kicks
Eagle Wings (bat wings stuff – with bricks)
Wonderbra (peoples chair – then push the bricks out, then push’em up)
    American Hammer
    Rocky Balboa
    Starfish crunch

Stop #2: Return the bricks to the Mini, and head to the rocks by the fountain. My father was an OB/GYN. His passion was delivering babies. What else delivers babies? 2 rounds of exercises (con roca) to spell out STORK

    Squats
    T-Merkins
    Overhead Press
    Rows
    Kettlebell Swings

Triple Shift gratefully let YHC have a shot with TS’s rock while TS proceeded to one-arm Overhead Press YHC’s rock. Eventually, Frac relieved YHC.

Stop #3: Return the rocks, mosey to the little foundry. My father’s favorite treat that he introduced to my kids – the Peanut Butter and Butter sandwich (only to be made with spreadable tub butter). 2 rounds of PBB exercises

    Pull Ups
    Burpees
    Big Boy Situps

Stop #4: Stop by the Tool Wall. As the cancer took his life, he lost strength in his legs. YHC will pay a bit of honor with some leg strengtheners.

    Calf Raises
    Monkey Humpers
    Bonnie Blairs (modify to Lunges)
    Calf Raises

Couldn’t get through 2 full rounds as. we were already late. Back to the flag – getting their about 5 minutes late. YHC didn’t apologize for the delay, as he didn’t feel bad about it.

Finished with our COT. Prayers offered for other PAX who also go through struggles with their aging parents and health concerns.

Thank you all for allowing me to celebrate my father’s life. He meant the world to me. I miss him daily. But I know he has moved on to the next phase of his life, and I know I will be rejoining him again one day.
