Backblast: MRC Week 3 – “The 571 Revisited”
Date: 11/5/25 | AO: Pontiff | QIC: Mr. Rodgers
Weather: Little Chilly but perfect for pain
PAX: The faithful (and the forgetful who didn’t check the Q sheet)
After a short break, Mr. Rodgers Challenge (MRC) made its glorious, sweat-soaked return for Week 3 — inspired by the legendary 2022 IPC Week 3 “571 Mrs. Burns.”
Big thanks to Fracsac for subbing in last week. I’m sure he did his best to uphold the high standards (and high heart rates) of Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood.
Shoutout to the brave PAX who showed up knowing what they were getting into… and equal credit to those who rolled in blind, blissfully unaware. (Pro tip: it’s always more fun when you don’t know what’s coming.)
The Setup
We went old school this morning — no fancy printout, no prepped coupons, just memory and grit. The gate to the track was locked, the fall weather was perfect, and time was not on our side. But when karma (and pax) throws shade, we throw rocks.
So we sprinted to the rock pile, grabbed our “vintage coupons,” and got after it.
Warm-Up (Lightning Edition)
No disclaimer, no pleasantries — straight business.
Abe Vigodas
Low very Slow Squats (with an awkward pause to throw everyone’s rhythm off)
Hillbillys
Peter Parkers
Shoulder Taps
Short. Sharp. Effective.
Main Event – “571” Style Grinder
Format:
5 Rounds · 7 Exercises · 1 Run per Round
Each round included:
20 Rock Presses
20 Burpees
20 Curls
20 V-Ups
20 Goblet Squats
13 Man-Makers
400M Run
After Round 5: another 400M run for good measure.
Reality Check: We made it through 4 brutal rounds before time betrayed us. Sprint back to the rock pile, drop the evidence, and hustle to the COT.
COT / Closing Thoughts
The grumbling began immediately — apparently, I went 5 minutes over.
Not my fault they didn’t push harder to finish… but as a leader of men, I took accountability.
We circled up, lifted our prayers and gratitude, and gave thanks for strong bodies, humble hearts, and another chance to do something hard.
Moleskin:
Locked gates, missing coupons, no printout — nothing stopped this crew.
Rocks were heavy, the air was pleasant, and the spirit was strong.
MRC Week 3 proved one thing: comfort is overrated, and excuses don’t count.
Honored to serve and lead this morning.
