10 years on. Yup, YHC has been doing this now for 10 years. Many thanks to Bogey and Heisenberg for EH’ing me so long ago. Many thanks to Hawg for the first 2 Qs that hooked me. But mostly thanks to Bogey for actually showing up for the 10 year anniversary!
To celebrate – once again we do roughly the same drill as the first time: Lieutenant Dan’s. What I remember vividly from my first time was how I couldn’t walk right for the rest of Thanksgiving Week. Damn, that hurt, but only in a good way!
10 PAX took off in the gloom. Thanks to all of you: Mr. Rogers, Hand Grenada, Bogey, Bongo, Fast Tax, Mahatma, Triple Shift, Squints, FracSac.
Start with a warm up circle of 10x count exercises (yup, 10 years on). Then grab a rock. lots of “What kind of rock” and “Should we get one as small as Rudy’s?”. Whatever – just grab a damn rock. 10 years ago, Hawg made a concerted effort not to tell the “new guy” what to expect or what kind of rock to pick.
Over to the field – Lt. Dan’s down to the fence. They still suck, but I can at least mostly do it now. Better than before. Over to the stairs for 2 rounds of Calf Raises and Monkey Humpers. Then back to the rocks for circle of Mary. 5 rounds – the timer is a pair of PAX heading to the playground for a set of pull ups. Flutter Kicks, Penguins, Gas Pumpers, LBTs and V-Ups. Then Lt. Dan back to where we started. And finish up with a necessarily brief Bloom-Where-You’re-Planted circle.
And finally – because I felt my legs needed it: Low-Slow-Squats x11 (“one to grow on”)
I can’t thank all of you PAX enough – the opportunities to push myself physically, hold myself accountable to a great group of peers, and laugh hard at 530 in the morning. I look forward to at least 10 more years!
