  • Like Cakes, Pillsbury Rises—Finally! – from Bolt

YHC received a Sunday evening text from Pillsbury asking where I was posting in the gloom and a quick review of the Scrum showed a Q-less AO so I quickly signed up and let Pillsbury know. After texting a few PAX I knew were asking about our wayward brother of the gloom, I figured it would b a 2+ PAX beatdown and off to sleep I went. Pulling in just behind the man on the verge of being a Kotter, he admitted it’s been since before Labor Day that he posted—a stretch of time far easier to extend than to break, T-claps Pillsbury! Boo Boo came in hot and we commenced (predictably) with warmorama: RDE and a mosey to the squishy pad for the Thang:
3 stations, rotating clockwise after 1 min. AMRAP/15 secs of rest for two circuits.
    Round 1:
Step ups, tricep dips, Australian rows>rinse/repeat
    Round 2:
    Squats, incline merkins, LBCs>rinse/repeat
    Round 3:
Reverse lunges, decline merkins, American Hammers>rinse/repeat
    Round 4:
Side lunges, merkins, big Boi sit ups >rinse/repeat

Based upon the grunting, huffing, gasping, and lack of mumblechatter I’d say each PAX pushed themselves to their personal limit which was YHC’s goal for an almost-Kotter’s return to the gloom, which was punctuated by an acknowledgement from Pillsbury that F3 NOLA really means it when we say, “No man left behind!” as he received several PAX’s outreach over the weeks of his absence—way to lead KennaBrah, PVC, etc.

  • Dance you Frackers, Dance! – from Fracsac

Conditions: 50 degrees and dry with a wind chill making it feel like 40. Lots of missing Pax.

Alarm went off and YHC debated posting due to some lingering soreness. That thought passed and headed to Pontiff arriving 5 minutes early. Curious who the Q was, pulled up the spreadsheet and saw it was…..FracSac?!?!?

Planted the flag and started talking, apparently not a disclaimer as Rudy quickly pointed out. So disclaimer given and mosey to field for the warmup. Regular warmup stuff with a couple memorable moments. Hand Grenada refuses to dance. Bogey likes to get up close and personal during Peter Parkers.

What to do when not enough time to plan? Don’t act like you don’t know.

    Mini Dora:

    Assigned partners through count off.
    50 Burpees
    100 ‘mericans
    150 squats

Partner runs to 50 yard line and back.

    11s
    Burpees and Big Boi Sit-ups
    Bear crawl 15 yards between

Dance across the field by lunge walking. This really stretches the knees.

Finish off with Mary, including some wind shield wipers.

Interestingly enough, there was Mumblechatter during the warmup and then it went quiet until the lunge walks.

Thanks for posting with me and for making me a better person.

  • Rock Soup – from Hawgcycle

Conditions: 71 degrees, Humidity 93%, Wind 1.1 mi/h from NW

Pax: Rudy, Mahatma, Boo-Boo, Klinger, Fast Tax, Tenderloin, YHC

Seven pax arrived at Rock City in a soupy, gloom. 5 were foolish enough to follow YHC. Wisdom comes with age and Tenderloin did his thing on the track.

    Warm-up
    • SSH x 31; Shoulder Taps x 15; IW x 20; Peter Parker x 15; Grass Grabbers x 10; LBCs x 20

    The Thang
    • 100 yard bear crawl
    • Big Boi sit-ups as we waited for the six. We didn’t wait long.

Mosey to the Playground (the long way)
    • Pull-ups (3 sets of 10) and Merkins (AMRAP)
    • Swerkins (3 sets of 10), Big Bois (AMRAP), and Squats (AMRAP)

    Curls
    • Carry Rock to 25 yd line; 10 curls; drop rock; sprint to goal line and back
    • Carry Rock to 50 yd line; 10 curls; drop rock; sprint to goal line and back
    • Carry Rock to 75 yd line; 10 curls; drop rock; sprint to goal line and back
    • Carry Rock to 100 yd line (aka opposite goal line); 10 curls; drop rock; sprint to goal line and back

Repeato with Shoulder Presses (but only up to 50 yards)

Repeato with Bench Presses (but only up to 50 yards)

Return rocks and horses to stable back to the v-flag.

    NMM
    • I knew these men weren’t playing around after the 100 yard bear crawl. Guys were getting after it. No breaks, and stayed off their knees
    • YHC’s communication skills were not the best this morning. A little bit of a cluster with the pull-ups. Although my ambiguity at the Rock Pile worked out. I told guys to pick a rock they could press 10 times. I meant shoulder press, but some interpreted it as bench press and got a bigger rock than they might have otherwise. That made it just right for the rock suicides.
    • T-claps to Klinger for really pushing it on the last sprint of every set.
    • We only had 6 but it was a strong 6. YHC feels like we had a pretty good pace and got some good work in.
    • Boo-Boo and Rudy were keeping each other honest on the swerkins.
    • Mahatma’s extra trip around the sun doesn’t seem to have slowed him any.
    • We tried to celebrate Mahatma’s birthday, but Rudy was there and let us know we weren’t finished celebrating his yet. We thought it was over after Saturday’s Yipee bag, but I think he was wanting a small celebration at PJs. I skipped coffee, but I heard Mahatma had to buy Rudy’s coffee.
    • T-claps for Tenderloin for his consistency. He’s putting in the work every day.

  • Musta been the Right Time but the Wrong Name – from Bolt

YHC grabbed the Q late with the expectation that the FNG I’ve been EH’ing would show after the previous night’s text invite. The gloom came and as there was no text reply, I remained hopeful any pair of headlights might b him…alas Boo Boo, Frac, and Rev joined me as Mahatma was coming in hot at the start of warmup, all sans FNG. Warmarama Rapper’s Delight edition with a call for overheads while actually performing chinooks, causing confusion among the PAX until Frac called it out.

The Thang: Variations of mosey all the way to the workout equipment, stopping at each bench for burpees. Along the way YHC also called out for “man makers” causing more confusion because it was 8-count bodybuilders which caused Rev to pause and see what the movement would actually be so at nine minutes in you can see how swimmingly it was going. Arriving at the equipment each PAX grabbed a station including the pull up bar and performed AMRAP with a target of 25 minimum over the course of one minute, switching stations and resting 15 seconds. After a full circuit we moseyed back with just a couple stops along the way to perform more man makers, mary, 6 count squat holds (squat/hold/tap toes/heels/rise) and a final stop at the workout pad near the flag for dips and more mary. COT. Grateful for each of you!

  • Something for Everyone – from Boo-Boo

13 men came to the Wally Sprint for varying flavors of difficulty, but all with the purpose of becoming stronger than when they arrived.

Ruckers- Logo, Charmin, Hokie, Kenner Brah, Macgyver, Boo-Boo, Klinger, and Baloo completed 2.37 miles followed by nine minutes of Mary incorporating weighted rucks.

    Tenderloin did his thing.

Sprinters- Hawg, Frac, Pai Gow, Mambi mindlessly sprinted around the track and showed up to COT dizzy.

COT, prayers, OUT! Coffeteria followed with partial attendance.
