  • 1ST & 10 at THE A1C – from Einstein

Rainy morning at the A1C this morning.

With the kick-off of the football season, the 1st & 10 routine, from the F3 Exicon, was the order of the day.

Warmup: all IC15x; toe touch, side staddle hops, arm circles, imperial walkers, neck rolls, hillbillies(country boys), hi-jack hi-jills, seal jacks

Thang: 1st & 10, using the upper deck parking garage parking stripes as our football field (a wet one at that)
1 merkin, 10 burpees, “sprint” to the end of the field, mosey back around, the ref (Bushwacker) moved up the chains…2 merkins, 9 burpees, sprint, move up…3 merkins, 8 burpees, sprint, move up,…etc.
Bushwacker – in the lead, still doing his referee duties, scored first, with the rest of the pax a minute or so behind.

Next Thangs: with time to spare the pax did some Lieutenant Dans, lunging forward and backward, side shuffles, etc.

Mary: one minute of star stretches.

    Cuz prayed us out.

  • Round Robin at the Gipper – from Einstein

With no one signed up to que, a Round Robin was to ensue.

Moby started off the confusion with his slow cadence jumping jacks making us all look like a bunch of uncoordinated ballerinos. The warm up smoothed out as we made it around the group a couple of times.

DarkWing called an audible and we went and grabbed the cinder block coupons. Each pax chose a coupon exercise and mixed in with a few laps, time was up before we new it.

Moby prayed us out with intentions for BBQ’s nephew – a new kidney transplant recipient.

  • ROSHAMBO for the Q – from Darkwing Duck

11s were on the docket today. After a questionable game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, YHC took the q. Quick warm-up then moseyed to the courthouse. Burpees on the side walk, run to the stairs, 5 calf raises up each step, then big boy situps at the top. Run down the ramp and out the side, around the parking lot, back to the side walk. Finished right at 6 am.
    COT and done.

  • Rock, paper, scissors to see who leads?!?!?!? – from Darkwing Duck

Beautiful morning to take the red pill and get some work in. No one picked up the Q so it was a little ROSHAMBO to take the lead. Regular warm-up, then mosey to the courthouse.
A set of 11s was the choice. Burpees at the side walk, big boys at the top of the stairs, 5 calf raises at each step, with a lap down the ramp and around the side in between each set.
Ended right a 6. COT. Simple beatdown, simple back blast for a great group of HIMS.

  • Cool beatdown on a almost cool morning – from Mobydick

The Gipper opened with a cool breeze for a change. A six man pax was on hand for guided Tabata of seven exercises and three rounds. Jose 10K and Hammer were early birds. A brief period of stretches got us started.
YHC being the old grazer didn’t want to deprive the younger crowd of a full beat down dialed up a 1 min wo 30 sec rest Tabata of CFrogs/Squats/Crunches/SSH/Merkins/Toe touches/1min Run. Note the getting up and down between exercise by design to add another element. On your own pace guaranteed everyone got a full measure of what they needed including me.

From the breathing and srainibg in the 3rd round mission accomplished.
COT and prayers of gratitude for or inner strengths closed out the morning.

  • Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I’m not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don’t get in a fight. Ohhhh, back to school. Back to school. Back to school. Well, here goes nothing. – from Jose10k

    THE THANG:
It was a bit cooler this morning, 74 degrees to start an Epic “Back to School Beatdown”
We moseyed over the top of the stairs and YHC presented the white board. Time to go back to school and do the Billy Madison. Each grade represented an exercise and the PAX would do 12 reps of each, each round . The PAX would complete 1st grade, run down the stairs and run the ramp back up returning to the start. Next, complete 1st grade and then 2nd grade, run the short loop, returning to the start. The PAX would try to graduate and get through the 12th grade!
    1st Grade – Squats
    2nd Grade – Monkey Humpers
    3rd Grade – Lunges (2 is one)
    4th Grade – BBS
    5th Grade – Flutter Kicks
    6th Grade – LBCs
    7th Grade – American Hammers
    8th Grade – Merkins
    9th Grade – Freak Nasties
10th Grade – Carolina Dry Docks
    11th Grade – Burpees
    12th Grade – SSHs
COT and BBQ prayed us out.
We managed to complete the 9th grade. We now have something to shoot for next time. BBQ commented that the beatdown killed the mumble chatter. I’ll take the compliment. SYITG, thanks for letting me lead/and or reading this bb.

  • The Land of the Midnight Sun – from Steve

Jose has returned! Well, technically he was already on his third beatdown of the week (ok, as of this writing, his fourth), but for the Covington crew it was his grand homecoming. And he returned with tales of a mythical land where the sun never sets, the summer temps never hit the 60’s, and F3 doesn’t exist. Though that’s not entirely true since Jose brought the F3 with him: apparently he roped some poor bastard into doing 100 burpees / absolutions with him each day. This man never stops.

Brief warmorama, starting in a slow Gipper-cadence and then gently ramping up.

Then off to the rear of the Justice Center for a brief fling with Jane Fonda. We hit all three stages of Jane today (straight Janes, pulses, heel-to-knees), all at 15x IC, each leg.

Then looped around to the front of the JC for the main event – a series of 11’s between the courtyard benches.

Started off with the chest/shoulders: Derkins on one end, bear crawl across the courtyard to the opposite set of benches for freak nasties.

It seemed fitting that Jose would endure this one round and then have to leave for work, as he was the only Pax present to also have posted for Shooter’s brutal shoulder beatdown Tuesday, and Hammer’s brutal shoulder beatdown Monday. (YHC was reprimanded with a: “This is why you guys need to start writing backblasts!”)

Next set of 11’s were Bulgarians (2:1), lunge walk to opposite end, Step Ups (2:1).

Didn’t get to the core round, which was just as well since, really, what’s the point of crab walking when Legal isn’t there to show off.

Finally, an old Maverick classic – reverse bear crawl (or crawl bear, as the kids call it) up the courthouse steps. Followed by some calf raises, and back to the flag for an abbreviated Mary.

COT with announcement of Duke of Hazards’ VQ this Saturday! (Moby’s response: “Some $#%@& kid in diapers telling me to do 1000 burpees….”). Then we checked BBQ’s hat-o-meter only to see that the sweat lines weren’t quite up to last week’s beatdown (though still hot enough that ol’ Sonny gave the warm air one sniff before thinking, “Nah…” and settling back into Moby’s truck).

And finally BBQ prayed us out. Prayers for BBQ’s niece’s son, ten-year-old Charlie, who is going through a very tough time as he awaits a kidney transplant. And as always, thanks for this great group of men and the opportunity to lead.

  • Block of Ages – from Akbar

Good to see the Whacker return to the Marsh this gloom. 5 men suffered the humidity with a block beatdown, and we all got better for it.

Warm Up: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Arm Circles, Self Love, Shooters Self Love, Toe Touches, Grass Grabbers, Windmills, run to the stop sign and back.

    Thang:

Chest Press, Goblet Squat, Curls, Shoulder Press x15 OYO, descending by 1 each round. After each round, mosey to the playground for pull ups and 10 second dead hang. Run to the stop sign and back.

    Rinse and repeat until time.

Whacker waxed us all, and Dark Wing prayed us out.

    Announcements:
Spartan October, multiple races through November.

Thanks for the post! SYITG – Akbar

  • Deck of Death/Doom with Coupons – from Einstein

After a quick warmup, we grabbed the rain soaked coupons (which included some heavy monsters that Jose10K gifted to The Gipper), we deployed the deck – round robin style – with each pax drawing a card and choosing an exercise. We performed the card number of reps using the coupons. Joker draws were a lap around the city water tower triangle.
Everyone had a good sweat going.
    Steve prayed us out.

  • A round of this and a round of that should do it!! – from Shooter

YHC implemented some of the ISI for those participating in Zoolander’s July challenge.. After a brief warmup of Cherry pickers, selflove upright and 90 degrees, toe touches and Grass grabbers the PAX made the block.
Returned for 5/10/15 pull-ups, Merkins and jump squats.. Loop around the block. Bear crawl suicides (half court) while each PAX cycled through the jump rope.. Loop around the block.. True suicides with 10 Merkins on the finish cycling through the jump rope..
Finished with choice of plank hold for a minute..

Closed with announcements and prayers for our Country from the PAX.

Appreciate Waterpik taking us out and until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!!
