Happy New Year’s Pax! It’s humbling for YHC to be Q’ing the first Birdcage of 2022. Here’s to 2022 being better than 2021 (it’s gotta be right?). So, with a disclaimer and a quick run-down of our 5 core principles and motto for our FNG we are off!
Moseyed to the Soccer Field for Warm-Up

Mosey to Audubon statue and partner up for B.O.M.B.S all below counts are cumulative. PAX one runs around median while PAX two completes exercises. Flapjack till reps are complete.

• 175 Big Boy Sit-Ups
• 200 Squats
Next, mosey to track for a little Route 66:
• Inch Worm to Body Bag Builders starting at 1 Plank Jack/Mountain Climber/Merkin upping 1 rep at each succeeding running man up to 11 running man for a total of 66 reps.
Ran out of time, so called it with most PAX somewhere between 10 and 11th running man.
Moseyed to flag for Count off, Name-o-rama (one FNG, DEB as his last name is Walmsley and Domincan is on Walmsley and he went to a lot of Debutante balls in the past), announcements, intentions and prayer.

Gettin Sweaty after Christmas – from Triple Shift
The issue with writing a backblast a week after it happens is that you forget almost everything that happens…sigh! Well, King Kong strong armed me into this Q and I am glad I had the opportunity to lead 15 other PAX members for a glorious after Christmas beatdown.
DISCLAIMER AND WARMARAMA
I gave my usual disclaimer that I’m not a professional trainer and I am not insured so ‘push yourself but don’t hurt yourself, modify as needed.’ With Willie coming in 3 minutes late, we did 15 burpees in cadence as a penalty, so Willie won’t do that again. This is where it starts getting fuzzy.
30 SSH, 10 Slow Vigodas, 20 Low Slow Squats followed by a Plank O Rama of Peter Parkers, Shoulder Taps, Parker Peters, and Floyd Mayweather’s all 15 ICTHE THANG
We lined up and did an animal parade of bear crawls going out and crawl bears coming back. Duck Walks and Walk Ducks and finally Monkeys each side.
Now that we’re warm, we proceed to the long planter ledge and do 10 single leg squats (right leg) with the KB then 20 KB swings. Rinse and repeat with the left leg. After the single leg squats, we do Bulgarian Split Squats (10 each leg with 20 KB swings in between). Finally, we head to the wrought iron benches to perform 10 hip thrusts followed by 20 KB swings x 2. Time is running short, so we do a set of MARY with flutter kicks, dying cockroaches and box cutters.COUNTOFF, NAMERAMA, AND COT
Did the countoff and welcomed FNG Sparky and Roux Paul who came back to town after moving to Virginia. Prayers for those who are suffering and dealing with health issues. Finally, gave thanks to the Creator for the strength and breath to live another day to become better men. -
Speed Walker – from MacGyver
7 PAX showed up Saturday morning to ring in a new year the only way we know how, with a fun and relaxed get together.
We all got together at the flag and started Warmups, Abe Vigotas x10 Imperial Walkers x 12 Side Straddle Hops x22.
Then we Indian ran to the front of the Art Museum for AYOP Burpies. Time limit was set by how fast Q could finish theirs.
We then mozed over to the far side of Big lake for more AYOP Burpies, after that we finished the lake loop at the bridge and did another set of AYOP Burpies.
At this point burpies and running were old news, and we wanted to keep things interesting so naturally we ran again to the back of the museum for relaxing break of 25x donkey kicks on the wall. After that we ran back towards the Great Lawn stopping at a garden bed for Dips X 12, Bulgarian slow squats X 12, dips X 12, squatsX 20, LBC X22, and Flutter Kicks X22.
We then finished our trip over to the Great Lawn for a little bit of team work, everyone picked a misery buddy, then one man did Buripes while the other bear Crawled across the field. When the Bear Crawler finished they started Buripes and their buddy started to bear crawl across the field to reunite the pack. Once we were grouped up again we did a murkin ring of fire, followed by Crunchy Frogsx22 Dr. W’s X ( 12 I think) Scissor kicks x22 and Big Boy sit-ups X10. After that we mosied back to the flag for one last set of Buripes everyone was too tired for, then COT
The following evening Q remembered to write their First BB, in doing so they are pretty sure the missed 1-2 pax who attended and are definitely sure they missed a few exercises and messed up some of the counts, but I guess that better BB’s will come with experience.

It was a crisp, cold morning at Rock City as eleven PAX joined YHC for his 50th birthday Q.
After disclaimer, we headed near the rock pile for warmups.Warmups consisted of:
o Abe Vigodas X 10 IC
o Nancy Kerrigans X 10 IC
o Hairy Rockettes X 10 IC
o Grass Grabbers IC 10
o SSH IC 10Sufficiently warmed, we headed to the rock pile, grabbed medium rocks (most of us) and headed to the playground in search of YHC’s lost youth.
The first event, which I am very uncreatively calling “Rock the Court”, pushed the bounds of comprehension/attention for many of the PAX in attendance (resulting in 10 punitive burpees before we even began) and went like this:
Divide into 4 teams with each team occupying on corner of the tennis courts enclosure and four rocks (one for each team) placed in the center. One PAX member from each team runs to the center and performs 10 reps of the first of five selected exercises (O/H Press, Curls, Tricep Lifts, Rows, and Burpees) while the rest of the PAX are in a low plank. When he returns to his corner and low-planks, the next teammate runs to the center and does 10 of the same exercise. This repeats until all PAX on the team has had a turn, then the cycle repeats for the next exercise, and so on, until all five are complete.Leaving the tennis courts behind, we circled up for a round of Rocks Up (IC 15) and then it was off to the playground for YHC to deny his 50 years by proving he was still a child, or at least could act like one.
The Playground Scramble went something like this:
PAX start in plank while first PAX soldier crawls up the spiraled tubular slide (aptly but alarmingly described by Bolt as climbing out of the birth canal), down the ramp, through the small tunnel, then arm over arm across the monkey bars, across the balance beam, arm over arm across the next two overhead bar things then side scramble across the rock wall, all while not touching the ground (because it’s hot lava of course). Anyone touching the ground had to do 20 burpees.
Next PAX can start up the slide after the PAX ahead of him exits the slide at the top. PAX waiting at the beginning or the end had to do continuous BBS until Q called plank or some other exercise.As we prepared to bring the rocks back, for a little extra entertainment, YHC thought “what kid doesn’t like a game of Indian Run?” With rocks of course. After 1 ½ cycles, YHC lost interest…time to drop off rocks and mosey to the flag.
With a few minutes to spare, and YHC still trying to cling to his youth, we circled around the tree for Duck-Duck-Burpee, which Willie apparently forgot how to play…
At 6:15 we headed to COT for name-o-rama, announcements, intentions, and prayer, followed by Coffeteria at PJs with a special treat (homemade coffee cake) by Mrs. Fast Tax, now affectionately called “Audit.”
Gratitude to Bogey, Bolt, Frac Sac, Hand Grenada, Jingle Vader, King Kong, Mahatma, Scantron, Tax Credit (my 2.0), Vagabond, and Willie for being part of my birthday Q and making it so enjoyable.
