What a great 10 years this has been. Who would have thought I’d still be here after my initial beatdown with this new, weird ensemble of guys?
The morning was literally freezing cold and windy. I expected maybe one or two to show up, but instead I got a group of dedicated souls ready to celebrate 10 years—and two FNGs!
So away we go on my Mani-versary, reflecting back on the original beatdown that started it all, led by Reluctant Yankee (back when he used to come to City Park). See the link for that original backblast and how things have changed—or maybe haven’t:
Warm-Up
• SSH x 25
• Squats x 20
• Mountain Climbers x 20
• Imperial Walkers x 25
Mosey to the low wall by the Sculpture Garden
• Box Jumps x 20 OYO
• Dips x 20
• Right-Leg Step-Ups x 20
• Incline Merkins x 20
• Left-Leg Step-Ups x 20
• Decline Merkins x 20
Mosey to the practice track and 610 stomp location
(We never go here anymore during the Mothership.)
Circle of Jack Webb
1 Merkin, 2 arm thrusts, increasing accordingly.
Then… 5 rounds with Tyson:
Along the football field: goal line → 50-yard line → opposite goal line → 50-yard line → back to goal line. At each stop:
• 5 Burpees
• 10 Jump Squats
• 15 Peter Parkers
• 20 Dying Cockroaches
• 25 SSHs
We did this twice.
Final “Choose Your Own Adventure”
• Run ½ lap at ¾ speed, then run backwards (2 laps total)
OR
• Merkin Ring of Fire
Some did both…
Mosey back to the flag just in time.
COT
Reflected on what F3 has meant to me over the last 10 years. Welcomed and named two FNGs: Sherlock and YES! Maybe in another 10 years we’ll see Sherlock and YES! repeating this same beatdown and recording it for the future. I really hope so.
Thanks to this group of men for what they do for me and for each other. A great organization and a constant source of motivation.
See you on the radio.
