  • Introducing the New Sweetheart – from Fracsac

YHC pulled up to the Renaissance AO 4 minutes early and found Wapner to be the lonely Pax, but now we were 2! The flag was planted, a disclaimer given, and face the bacon for the warmup. 2 more pax filtered in during the warmup.

With 4 of us, YHC grabbed the 60 lb sandbag known as Sweetness plus a new toy….a 53 lb sand kettlebell! Partner up for Dora 1..2..3.

    100 burpees
    200 Big Boi Sit-ups
    300 Squats

Partner 2 grabs one of the ladies and goes one quarter way around NOMA and back.
During this evolution Pax #5 showed up and got in on the action.

  • Wherefore Art Thou, Macgyver? – from Rudy

5:29:30 – 9 PAX in the gloom start to realize that our designated Q – who so so boldly announced his Q intentions to the world (or at least to slack) – was going to no-show. YHC looked around and saw Mahatma getting ready to claim the Q. As YHC has experienced the Mahatma Q, I spoke up and grabbed it just in the nick of time. I think I heard Mayhem whispering “Whew…”

BTW – Welcome back to the fold, Babyface! Great to see you in the gloom!!

With the disclaimer given, the PAX were off to the rock pile. Quick warmup with some SSH, IW and such. Gives YHC a few moments to formulate a plan – lets grab a rock and head to the football field.

Midway to the football field, YHC called an audible and stopped by the playground. 5 stations of Pull Ups, Merkins, Squat Thrusts, Burpees and LBCs. 2 rounds through, while TripleShift showed up just in the nick of time (i.e., 15 mins late).

Next up – off to the field. Start with a Dirty MacDeuce. We were short 1 rock, so whoever was rock-less for an exercise would just do burpees while everyone else exercised.

Round 1: Shoulder Press (mahatma drew the short straw). Then lunges and LBTs. 1 Lap.
Round 2: Curls (Triple got it), Slow Squats (Hand Gernada was burpeeing), Flutter Kicks. 1 more Lap

Mahatma had now had enough and demanded that a REAL Q step up. So Mahatma took over. All Day Baby! Everyone lift rocks overhead. We’re 1 short, though??? No big deal – 1 PAX to the middle for 5 burpees, then pass off a rock. Can the PAX keep the rocks overhead while we get through all 50 burpees? All PAX but 1 (“Rudy”) made it.

Line up for a Merkin Lineup. shoulder-to-shoulder, Lotsa merkins, side crawling, hand slapping fun.

    Creative stuff, Mahatma!

Return the rocks, some last Mary and back on our horses to get to the flag.

COT, Announcements and Prayers. Thanks to all for giving us the chance to lead!

  • Uptowner Battle Frisburpee 11/18/2022 – from Fast Tax

Admittedly, YHC was a minute late to the AO…thanks to War Eagle for kicking things off.
Warmups were held in the middle of the field:
    Grass Grabbers
    SSH
    Hairy Rockettes
    Toy Soldiers
    Peter Parker
    Crab Merkins

To kick things off post-warmup, on this crisp Game Friday, we began with Red Barchetta.
Designed to get the heart rate up, much like the song by Rush of the same name, the Red Barchetta begins with PAX lining up on the end zone. The following can be done OYO or planking to wait for the six after each dash (we did it OYO): 100 Yard Dash then 100 SSHs, run back to start point; 75 yard dash then 75 mountain climbers, run back to start; 50 yard dash then 50 LBCs, run back to start; 25 yard dash then 25 Merkins, run back to start; 10 yard dash then 10 burpees, run back to start.

With 25 minutes left, it was Battle Frisburpee time.
Team 1 – Tiny Dancer, Fast Tax, Scantron, Triple Shift, and War Eagle
Team 2 – Bogey, Cyber Cajun, Pool Boy, PVC and War Eagle
War Eagle switched sides halfway through while Hokie and Vagabond were on injured reserve and couldn’t play.
Team 1 carried the day winning 4-3.
With game over, we headed to COT for name-o-rama, announcements, intentions, and prayer.
    Thanks for the fellowship! SYITG

  • Is there a wind block anywhere? – from PVC

Trying to keep warm on a crisp 45 degree morning with a constant 15mph wind

    Warmorama:
Low slow squat, Grassgrabber, Abe Vigoda, Imperial walker, Hillbillies, Peter parker, Arm circles, Parker peter

Exercised at the corners of the end zones: Merkins then sprint to other corner, Big boy sit ups, Sprint and lunge, sprint and side straddle hop for 2 rounds

Met at center of the field to play a ring of fire frisbee with 2 burpee penalties. Quite a challenge with the winds. Lots of burpees to be had. Side straddle hops while not active throwing or catching the frisbee. The Golden Glove goes to Cyber Cajun, I can’t remeber him ever dropping one.

  • Cool & Crisp Renaissance – from Fracsac

Sunday morning in New Orleans. A crisp 42 degrees with a cool breeze making it feel a bit chilly. With a shovel flag planted and Old Glory flying gracefully 5 HIMs faced the bacon to start the warmup with classic rock streaming.
Post warmup mosey to an open spot near the big lake for Embrace the Suck:
3 minutes of 6 x SSH, 6 x Merkins, 6 x Bobby Hurley over and over. One minute rest then rinse and repeat x 3.

Mosey back to the fountain for tabata.
8 rounds of step ups with 45 seconds work and 15 seconds rest.

    Mosey to tree line.
Bear crawl to tree 1 and burpee x 1.
Bear crawl to tree 2 and burpee x 2.
    Continue to tree 5.

    For the return trip:
MoT is skipping with 5 squats at each tree.

Head to back of NOMA for Sunday Mornings x 5.

Mosey to flag. 30 seconds remaining, so low plank jacks x 10 IC ‘cause Hawgcycle says we need to do these.

    COT

    NMM

This was likely the coldest day in the Fall of 2022.

YHCs glutes and quads were still sore from Triple Shift twisting them in directions they didn’t know they could go yesterday. Just thought everyone should know.

Hawg was right, low plank jacks just feel right.

No Ranger Panty sightings today. We still have plenty of cool days coming, so fingers crossed!!
