Freedom 250 at the Mothership – from Triple Shift

With the celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary where we declared our independence from Britain in 1776, an epic beatdown would be required at the Mothership.

As I arrived at 6:25 am, Squints was the only one present to participate in the bootcamp with Tool going for a run. It looked thin but the PAX showed up and an FNG found us as well. It’s been a few months since I Q’ed a workout and was obviously rusty. I started with the 5 core principles and forgot the disclaimer, D’oh! Anyway, off to the Peristyle for the warmup.

WARMARAMA – 10 LSS, 15 IP (Fingers Interlaced), 10 Slow Vigodas, 10 Tie Fighters (both legs), 10 Slow Merkins, 10 Slow Shoulder Taps, 10 Slow Peter Parkers, 10 Slow Floyd Mayweathers, 10 Parker Peters and 10 Burpees all IC.

THANG 1 – Mosey to the Great Lawn for a 1776 workout. Bear crawl out and count each hand strike until you reach 17. From there, perform 7 burpees and then repeat that sequence for 6 rounds. Not a lot of mumble chatter on that one.

THANG 2 – Mosey to the rock pile behind the fountain, select a rock and then head to the grass on the left-hand side of NOMA. I stayed in the shade to avoid the sun, but the humidity and wet grass was a crowd pleaser. We would perform 10 reps of five exercises which were Squats, Merkins, Rows, Heels to Heaven, and Curls. From there we would climb the steps, run down the ramp, follow the sidewalk then box jump up 5 large blocks on the left-hand side of NOMA then make our way back to the rocks for a total of 5 rounds. As I was explaining the exercise, Fracsac inquisitively commented that the total reps would be 250. Yes, see what I did?

With about 8 minutes left, we returned our rocks and did a slow mosey to the flag and performed 56 LBCs in cadence to honor the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

COT – Closed out with warm welcome to Michael Leperle (F3 NOLA – Jack Sparrow) and provided a few quotes from our founding fathers on the importance of Faith as a guiding and protective principle. Prayed us out and gave thanks to God for our freedoms so we can do what we ought to do for our families and our community. Blessings for 250 years of freedom!

“To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.” George Washington

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams

“God governs in the affairs of men” and that “mankind will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants” Benjamin Franklin
