  • Chad meets The Grizzly – from Hokie

On Saturday evening YHC noticed no one had signed up to take the Q at Renaissance so I signed up ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sundays gathering at 0630 had a small group of 5 Pax including one, Fryin’ Pan, posting down range from Rock Hill, SC

The last few weeks I have talked about Veteran Suicide Prevention and the upcoming Chad 1000. The CHAD 1000X has brought together thousands looking to be a part of something greater than themselves. Not only bring awareness to the epidemic of suicide, particularly among veterans, but also to help be part of the solution.

  • Running regulars at the Scramble!!

Arrived at the AO with flags already planted and the regulars. The always consistent Waterpik minus his recent absence has become a staple along with Pelican and Cowbell. We also had our famous out of work hairdresser in Steve who is no stranger to the Scramble, but YHC is super excited to have the likes of Russo posting on this Gloom. He has recently committed to the AO and has not looked back. The impressiveness of this fellow brethren is that YHC having heard not so very long ago phrase of โ€œI am not a runner!โ€ โ€œDanielson you must focusโ€ and focus he has. T ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  • Good numbers at the Scramble with lots of regulars out and a Southshore visitor to boot!!

YHC arrived on this Gloom with 2 shovels planted and another streaming across the parking lot ready to be planted. In the darkness a glow of Jose10k and his neon shirt reflected back at the Q, as if I were staring in the mirror or Steve had made the fastest quarantine in the COVID 2020 era to close the year.. There were no special plans for the day, however I knew once I saw Gideon from the Southshore my mind quickly kicked in and doubled up a previous agenda laid out by Waterpik a few weeks back. Instructions were simple following a slight warmup of 10IC Grass grabbers, Windmills, Toe Touches, SSH, Butt kicks and high knees. PAX was required to complete a 100 Merkins, 100 Mountain climbers 2:1, and 100 Jump squats along the 5k standard route done in any rep of variety chosen by each PAX. Returned with a few mins to close 10IC Crunchy frogs, flutter kicks and 100s..

Appreciate another year shared with the F3 brethren and the accountability each of you bring to the beatdowns.

Grateful to Gideon for his post and sharing great perspective on what each of us as leaders in our community brings. How we should continually be looking for opportunities to share with other men that are out there as sad clowns and just need that little push of encouragement to get out in the Gloom and will certainly become better men for doing so..

Q closed us out with COT!

    Until BBQs southern breakfast ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸผโœŒ๐Ÿผ!!!

  • Twas the Gloom Before Christmas

Twas the gloom before Christmas and all through the hood

the scramblers were gathered though the weather was not good.

The shovel flag was planted at the AO with care

in hopes that the Q would eventually be there.

The PAX nestled snug in their running attire

while visions of coffee warmed them like fire

Hammer and Pik donned their bright Christmas socks,

Cowbell’s brains were a’dangling in his tiny shorts frocked

With puddles abound there arose such a splatter

We sprang from city hall like the rain didn’t matter

Away down Massena Pik flew like a flash

and along the route helped out by picking up trash

With bright yellow shoes on his feet down below,

Shooter’s pace was quite comfortable, easy and slow.

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

but miniature Steve with his eyes all a’blear.

With little young Cowbell so lively and quick

    running beside aforementioned Waterpik.

More rapid than eagles Hammer then came,

and talking and shouting Wacker called them by name:

“Now, Shooter! now, Russo! now Hammer and Steve!

On, Cowbell! on, Waterpik! a 5k we’ll achieve!

To the top of the pier! And around the loop!

Now dash away guys, but watch out for dog poop!”

Now upon returning from our drizzle-soaked lark

we closed with an indian run round the park.

At COT Q spoke to those gathered round

inspiring words with a Christmasy sound.

Then away we all flew, coffeteria bound

but Liz’s was closed, and Waffle House we found

doesn’t close for Christmas or Covid, to do so

would deprive us of Christmas Eve coffee with Russo.

Then as soon we sat to discuss things with candor

who should walk in but our buddy Zoolander.

And I heard him exclaim as I walked out the door

Merry Christmas to all and F3 ever more!

  • Letโ€™s just keep Running!

Nothing much to write about today.. We journeyed some extra distance this Gloom chattering along the way with Burgundy who unfortunately for us will be heading out West to California with his work.. We all will miss his post and dedication to the CSAUP events held annually on the Southshore and Northshore.. Wishing you and your family sir nothing but the very best in your move out West…

    warmup

20IC SSH, Hillbillyโ€™s, Mummy kicks, Toe Touches, Windmills and skip to the end for our route down Messina turning on Monroe then West Beach back up Steveโ€™s street to Villere and back to the AO.

    Countarama, namarama, COT

    YHC prayed us out!

    ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸผโœŒ๐Ÿผ Till the next Gloom!!

  • Where Did They All Go?! (Snip snip)

Early birds were abound with Hammer in his usual cabin light- lit reading position, while Cowbell and Steve, one not to be outdone by the other, were both putting in some pre thang milage.ย

Hogsbreath and Pelican, like the grasshopper following the master, suddenly materialized from the gloom.ย

YHC and Pik doubled down one rolling in right after the other, and Bird just rolled up  and wondered if he had missed anything.

    WARMORAMA

    X15 IC:

High Knees, Butt Kicks, Windmills, Cherry Pickers, Merkins, Squats

    THANG

To help Cowbell with his self-imposed quest to hit the 1000 mile mark this year, QIC, quite poorly, explained the idea that the regular route would include the addendum audible, post-loop up W Beach to the lakefront then back on course.ย

The peer-pressure group of YHC, Cowbell, Steve, & Bird took off at a pace solely meant to keep up with the Jonesโ€™, and pulled up to the flags with mere minutes to spare.

Meanwhile, the much more sensible crew of Hammer, Hogsbreath, Pelican and Waterpik werenโ€™t quite sure how the hell the route had been altered exactly and, upon returning to an empty parking lot proceeded to waste no time with idle chatter.ย

    MARY

With just one minute left, the PAX hit The new Bushwacker favorite, 100 100s OYO

    COT

With Bird dropping…RIM SHOT… we counted/named and Pik prayed us out

FIA launch Saturday 7am at the Gipper

F2 next Thursday at the gazebo on the lakefront at a time to been finalized by weekly emIl deadline.

And last, but certainly not least, prayers for Hammer as he says farewell to his little swimmers today, that the only snips are the oneโ€™s heโ€™s paying for!

Thanks for another round at the pub, gents!

  • Audible at the Scramble

YHC decided to change up the routine slightly at the Scramble in the Gloom. Each Pax had to complete 50 merkins, burpees, and squats during the course of the 5K. It was good to see Mathlete make a surprise appearance, even though he said he wont be coming back when he learned the Scramble was our running AO.

It was good to share the streets of Old Mandeville with you, men! As always, it was my privilege to lead you guys this morning. Y’all push me to become a better man every time I am with you.

Thanks to Steve for praying us out.

  • Trotting at the Scramble Wackerless!!

4 men decided to Trot at the Scramble on this Turkey Gloom, however 1 was missing who actually threw an EH on a fellow brethren who didnโ€™t actually post but would not have enjoyed the slow 9:13 pace of 3.38 miles down an abandoned East causeway approach that on any other day would be loaded with vehicles.. The men of this morning enjoyed the modest pace and so did the YHC..

    warmup

10IC Grass grabbers, Toe Touches, Butt kicks, High Knees, Self-love and skip to the end of the parking lot..

    thang

3.38 miles and 9.13 pace returned to the play ground. Alternating core while one PAX would do called reps of pull-ups (8), freak Nasties (20), Merkins (15) and Jump squats (15). Remaining PAX did 100s, flutters, LBCs and hands to heals..

    Appreciate the post men!!

    Till the next Gloom ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸผโœŒ๐Ÿผ!!!

Thanks to Waterpik for praying ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ us out!!

  • Quick Steppin’ and Some Core Work

In the upper 40’s, the gloom was chilly enough that YHC wanted to get the blood pumping as quickly as possible. And so….

    WARMORAMA

High tempo start with: High knees, Butt Kicks, SSHs, Torso Twists, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, and some High Skips.

    THANG

The PAX took off running the usual route, and after half way, started to slowly segregate with YHC and Bird, Waterpik, Hammer, and Pelican, and Shooter and Akbar grouping up respectively.

    MARY

Upon returning to the MULTIPLE NEW SHOVEL FLAGS, the PAX congregated around the fitness equipment for some significant core challenges OYO:

    100 LBCs

    100 100s

    80 L E2Ks

    80 R E2Ks

    50Flutter Kicks

    COT

Hammer’s 1000 Burpee Challenge is nigh upon us, so bring your A game. Whether just in the gloom or additional meet-ups with lagniappe F2, Saturday will not be one to miss – especially with the long-awaited return of Maximus the Invincible , Tank! (Full disclosure, Bushwacker will be out of town)

Bird prayed us out and we all fell out into the dawning day to tackle our challenges, come what may.

Thanks for always showing up guys. I’m consistently humbled and motivated!
